Tyrone should try out some new talent. They aren't going to win anything this year by the looks of things.

It's a bit premature to be writing epitaphs in January.

Rochford almost in tears. Calm down, man.

These guys put their whole lives on hold for days like today. He knew that this team has probably just had their best chance of an AI slip away. I'd be surprised if he wasn't feeling the pain.

A O'Shea RTE MOTM was 12/1 NOW 14/1/ . This sunday will see Aidan in his prime

I'm expecting that AOS will answer a lot of critics on Sunday. He has never really delivered against the Dubs but I have a sneaky feeling that Sunday will be the day that he does.

Congratulations to Galway. Great composure when the chips were down. Goals kept Waterford in it but the better team won on the day.

Dublin are different gravy. OCallaghan has given them direct running and finishing on top of what they already had. There's no team that are within 10 points of them on this firm.

Mayo have surpassed themselves this Summer and on our past years efforts it is no mean feat. 7 semi finals in a row and now our 4th final in 6 years. The glaring fact that we've failed to get over the line remains but I remember the Sunday game panel writing us off a few weeks ago as not being mentioned in a top 2 or 3 and that will no longer be the case. This team keeps rewriting their own history.

Whatever work they're doing down there in Kerry is certainly paying dividends. They've gone from being pushed around like U12s against Dublin a few years ago to total domination.

This is about Galway hurlers but would also fit Mayo ...

"Galway is unusual in that a fair portion of their supporters tend to be both hugely demanding and deeply pessimistic, creating a uniquely difficult and pressured environment for a player to operate in."

I can tell you that it's never acceptable to be beaten by the likes of the Rossies even if we're on our last legs. Rochford has to go if we don't win the AI this year. Unfortunately our ladeens are f*cked and I can't see how we are going to be right in less than a week. Anyway our sideline will probably throw it away even if we manage to get 15 fit players on to the pitch.

That's surely the last nail in our coffin. We were out of gas today and 6 days is too short a recovery time.

Donegal have imploded totally now. No subs left for these black cards.

That could be the worst call of a black card ever.

It's not going to make any difference to the result so it's not too bad from that point of view.

We could be down a fair few players through injury and suspension for the next round. Looked to me like Harrison had a hamstring problem again and Keegan will surely be out for a while too. Doherty and Loftus have played their way into contention and that might be a good thing to come from tonight

Our training and game plan seems to stifle attacking instincts. Look at Jason Doherty as the prime example. A goal machine when he came onto the team and now a workhorse. Regan and DOC don't look like the scoring threats that they were a year ago. One of the big criticisms of COC is that he doesn't score enough from play. How much of that is down to the role he is being asked to play?

Natural forwards don't seem to be part of the plan unless they are athletes first. Loftus and Irwin never got a decent run in the league and both of these were lethal in our u21 run last year.
I'm afraid that the huffing and puffing in front of goals today is a culmination of favouring work rate over ability when choosing forwards all the way back to Horans day and his dropping of Conor Mortimer for that exact reason.

Galway seem to have the upper hand on us at all levels recently. Hard to see us winning in Salthill this year when we couldn't last year in Castlebar. A year older for our lads and a year more experience including promotion to Division 1 for Galways young guns.  We should certainly be going in as underdogs and with the amount of mileage on the clock for this team, I am afraid that the young legs in the Galway team could run rings around us again.

I'm not sure that either goal should have stood. DOC took way too many steps for the first and I thought Cillian was in the square before Loftus passed the ball for the second.

Sligo didn't give up and Mayo just did enough to keep them at arms length. Kevin Walsh won't have learned too much today about what sort of challenge Mayo will put up to the champions the next day.
