I too liked U2 at an adolescent stage of my life but there is one thing that Paul Hewson said that still forces me to examine the physique of Irishness.

It goes a little like this:

"If an Irish person is driving through the country and sees a bit beautiful house, they think, fecking bastard. let's destroy him."

But:

"If an American is doing the same thing, they think, I want that"

10 years old

Armagh vs Roscommon (1980 I think)

There with the lads from the athletics club

Sitting in the Hogan watching my dad walking around the edge of the pitch at the same time as the teams took the field, as he'd arrived late

I really bought  a house near an airport. I'm right under a flight path. Those BA bas*ards won'd even  consider moving the flight paths an inch.

Just not PC.

PS saved about 25 grand on an equivilantly sized house and went on a really cool holiday with the difference. Maybe I should have triple glazed the house instead!

A Man United fan in denial, that explains that so.
It's funny isn't it Dinny. Being a Man U fan in the past meant you could associate yourself with success even if you came from a county that is not Kerry or Kilkenny. I suppose it must be hard now for some to get used to the new misfiring reality. Man U always used to score and now they may or may not.

A bit like Laoislad above I am enjoying the demise and I think some Man United fans are going through the 5 stages of grief.

Some are in denial, some are just angry, some are bargaining (if we had RVP fit, if only), some are depressed and some have just accepted it.

Schadenfreude sums it up.
Things are going to get a lot worse before they get worse at the theatre of dreams.
Optimistic so :'(

Just watched your link. Great stuff

Many years ago I lived near there and had to drive part of that route once a week. Scary driving.

Best of luck to the lads

Isn't there some obligation for Parties to remove their election posters after "x" amount of time? If so has anyone ever been fined for not doing so?

Has anyone ever been swayed by an election poster? If they made them more like the old tennants cans with the blades on them, possibly. ;D

Quite a few years ago I went with the wife to the Connemara Coast Hotel. Got a great deal and had a great time. The rooms were a bit less than I expected, and I wouldn't be sure about the kids.

Had a fantastic time though.
Why not send her with with a friend whilst you hoover out the car etc

In my my post I used the phrase "humble opinion".

I've also stated it was a great effort, but was only trying to say / ask if that was planned in the training ground as it appeared to ask alot of Suarez if it was? His reading of it after he appears to ran forward was incredible.

Not splitting hairs. I'm delighted for them

The corner for the Suarez effort.

No idea who took it (SG?), but in my humble opinion that was dire; hard to believe it was planned. Doesn't take away from the recovery / insight shown by Suarez though.

Still, great result; perhaps Liverpool have grown a set now

Instil the correct norms and values and then let them work it out with a gentle guiding hand.

Try to remember what your parents did and said.

Don't worry too much. I actually understand exactly what you're thinking, "christ I can't believe I'm a dad, what the hell do I do, I'm not my parents"
