Name the two players who were direct opponents in midfield in an All Ireland Minor Football Semi Final (within the last 20 years) who have gone on to win Senior International Caps, one at Soccer and the other at  Rugby.

What year did Kevin Moran last play in an All Ireland Senior Final?

1977?

Not correct. Kevin Moran last played in an all Ireland  senior final for Waterford hurlers in 2008. Jimmy McGee asked that one at a quiz in croke park one night and it caught everyone

Connacht Final 1970  ;)

I recalled hearing that there was a connacht final televised in the seventies , so rossfan is right.

QuoteThat same year saw him line out in the halfback line with Mayo minors in the Connacht Final against Galway in Tuam. They lost out to their neighbours that day and Galway went on to win the All Ireland title. The year 1970 marked the first ever live television broadcast of a GAA provincial final and both the minor and senior games were transmitted live form Tuam on that occasion.Courtesy of the Mayo News

QuoteSetanta unveils Premier League fixtures

Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal each feature six times on Setanta Sports, which for the first time includes top pick Saturday 12:45 games on BT Sport, in the opening few weeks of the 2013-14 Barclays Premier League season.

First up on BT Sport on August 17th at 12.45 is Liverpool's clash with Stoke at Anfield, which will be followed by Aston Villa's trip to Arsenal at 15.00 on Setanta.

Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal each feature 6 times during the opening weeks, with the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool scheduled for November 23rd.

Another top pick is Tottenham's clash with Manchester United on November 30th at 12.45 on BT Sport, while another early highlight on September 28th sees former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas welcome his former mentor Jose Mourinho, who is back in charge of the Blues, to White Hart Lane.

The same afternoon Manchester United will host West Brom on Setanta, while Manchester City will entertain Everton in front of the BT Sport cameras on October 5th.

From August 1st Setanta subscribers will receive three new channels BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN resulting in an increase from 33 matches to 71 Premier League matches over the coming season. Setanta subscribers will have 28 BT Sport Saturday games with a 12.45pm kick off and 18 of these will be top pick games which means Setanta subscribers will have access to the highest profile fixtures on 18 weekends over the season.
Fans of both Liverpool and Manchester United do not have to wait until the start of the season to see their teams in action as the Reds' pre-season game against Preston North End will be broadcast on Setanta Ireland this Saturday, July 13th at 15.00.

In addition Steven Gerrard testimonial against Olympiacos will be shown on BT Sport on August 3rd with Rio Ferdinand's testimonial between United and Sevilla set for August 9th.

"This is a very exciting time for us in Setanta with the addition of BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN," Brian Quinn, Marketing Operations Director of Setanta Sports said.

"To have 71 Barclays Premier League games this season including 18 top picks is fantastic.  We feel that our initial fixture list as announced today will appeal to most football fans but of course fans of Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal will be particularly pleased.

"Having games like the Merseyside derby, Spurs v Man United and Chelsea v Spurs is a real step up in quality for us. Also BT Sport have only used 5 of their 18 top picks which means there are even more big clashes to come."

QuoteThe last Galway v Mayo minor game in Connacht was 2010 in Castlebar. Strange that it wasn't fixed for Saturday in Pearse Stadium given that the Galway seniors are playing there that day.

This wasn't going to happen as there wouldn't be agreement between central council and connacht council over the sharing of the spoils - once again the ordinary punter being a secondary priority to the connacht council bank balance.

Mayo Minors seem to have got lucky alright in recent years with venues. In all honesty, the Mayo Leitrim minor game should have been in carrick yesterday with the Leitrim seniors and the Sligo Ros game being the standalone fixture. And now they avoided going to an away venue for the second time in a week by the game being moved from Tuam.

Very poor effort. Ray Silke even mentioned Dessie Sloyane as one of Sligo's main men , albeit subsequently correcting himself. these lads do little or no research in advance of these shows and the overall quality is very poor.

Some brilliant Mayo Ros clashes back in those days - we only had to turn up in 85 after beating galway in tuam and were soundly beaten 2-11 to 0-8, did Noel Durkan from ballaghdereen get one of the goals. Mayo had brendan lowry playing that day too, i think it was the weekend of the liveaid concerts if i remember correctly. that day will always be remembered for the mayo lads chairing dermot earley off the field. Then in 86 the roles were reversed, mayo hot favourites and a vintage performance fromTony Mc saw us home. A monaghan man Tom reilly did for us in the Hyde in 88 and then we had two marvellous games in 89 - we should have won the first day, paul earley denied a goal at the death by gabriel irwin, Tony Mc scored two goals in the replay, the last in injury time but we couldnt hang on, and jimmy burke from aughamore fell over the line with the ball in extra time long before joe sheridan made it fashionable. To make matters worse, a bird shat on me walking out of the hyde that evening.Duggan was the star of the show in 91, did he score 8 in the replay. 92 saw the broken crossbar and a start of two decades of almost unbroken mayo dominance.

The Ros-Cavan rivalry has a lot of slack to take up in 2014. Never really liked the Caaavan man on Shannonside anyways

This coming from the County the produced Joe Finnegan, Willie Hegarty? We won't fall out over it though, rarely if ever listen to Northern sound/ Shannonside

hold on now a minute, joe finnegan isn't ours - hes a mayoman
