Do they not have a hurling club in Larne?

I use to coach a university team for my sins and a guy from Larne turned up at the first training session with a pair of Shinguards on him.

Yeah, Larne Óg I think they're called.

Latharna Óg. 50th anniversary next year

Yes I thought the ref had a great game and added to what was probably the best AI final Ive seen.

I thought the ref had a stinker and let Tipp backs away with murder in the first half (although I understand these were hard to see on the tv) also I thought it was against the rule book for a ref to ask an umpire about where a foul occurred.  Nearly had huge ramifications on the game.

Ref had a shocker on the big calls. Neither penalty was actually a penalty, though that's a moot point as they were missed, but how Stapleton stayed on the field after pulling Power's faceguard is beyond me.

OK. We're all set. 9.30 PM tonight. 10 team league. For newbies, it's PPR, so bear that in mind when looking at 'rankings'. PPR means that Running Backs, Receivers and Tight Ends get a point per reception as well as yardage points. Most leagues are standard scoring, which rewards only yardage gained and Touchdowns. That means if you look at a ranking, especially for Running Backs, you might see someone ranked high, but people below him will catch more passes and therefore be actually more valuable in PPR.

It's not a big deal, just bear it in mind.

I feel bad for Antrim Autopicks, but I have sent 3 reminders so I can't do much more.

Absolutely no need to feel bad AZ, all my own fault combined with other circumstances. A year out might do me some good to get refreshed for next season, anyway  ;)

Tebow is out of football at the moment, but I've seen a few comments that if he came back and tried as a Tight End or a Full Back he might be able to make a career for himself.

If you can pay £10 to watch Sky Sports for a soccer match, you'll be able to do the same on Saturday. The match is on Sky Sports 3. As long as you can get that you'll get the match.

I don't know. BBC have a different agreement again. Is that what this is about? You're trying to blame Sky for the Galway game not being on TV?

I'm just asking as it seems to be kinda like Rumsfeld's "Known  Unknowns"  RTE are missing a trick by not showing the Replay.

BBC can only show live matches that RTE are also showing. That's the deal they signed

Ferris well past it now at international level, be lucky to get back being a performer for Ulster.

You might be right. But if any back row forward in Ireland could afford to lose half a yard of pace through injury, and still be international standard, it's Ferris. I's be confident he'll be blindside again by the November series.

I can't see it. A back row of say SOB, Ferris and Heaslip wouldn't have the right ball carrying/winning turnover balance. POM has been excellent thus far.

That back row didn't do Ireland any harm against Australia in the last World Cup. O'Mahony has been superb and the six shirt is his to lose but a fit Ferris will extremely difficult to leave out

What age were you? 8
Who was playing, what year ? Galway v Kilkenny All-Ireland hurling final, 1987
Who did you go with ? My dad
Do you remember anything about it ? Virtually nothing of the match apart from the reaction in the crowd when Noel Lane scored Galway's goal, though couldn't actually see the goal. Clearest memory is the scoreboard flashing up the news Stephen Roche had won the World Championship

Kidney was terrified of giving Paddy Jackson responsibility when he was forced to play him last year, Joe has his work cut out to build up the lad's confidence at international level if he's going to head to Saint Denis as the starting out-half.

Surely Madigan is a far better option than Jackson?? No??

Jackson looks like a terrified schoolboy except when hes singing on youtube!!

Jackson's played well for Ulster this year - albeit not taking the kicks when Pienaar has been playing - while Madigan hasn't been able to unseat Gopperth. Plenty forget that after the Scotland match last year Jackson did rightly in the draw with France including nailing some difficult kicks

All over bar the shouting. College football is amazing.

Auburn will play Florida State in the BCS Championship game in January. Alabama will be represented in five consecutive BSC title games now, and the crystal football hasn't left the state since that streak began. Incredible.

I never thought in my wildest dreams that when the dust settled on the 2013 season Auburn would be one of the final two teams. This year's run is even more stunning than Cam's back in 2010-11. From win-less in the SEC last year to the national title game, this is the sort of thing that just doesn't happen in a sport as competitive as college ball. Malzahn was an inspired choice.

A seminal season? Check.

A team of destiny? One last test.
Say what you like about auburn, but that running attack is mightily impressive. Mizzou are no soft touch on defense but the relentless attack from Auburn was special. Had my doubts before the Alabama came but have to say what i seen there last 2 games was unreal. Their defense is atrocious though.

Any bets on the total number of points in the national title game - couldn't see it being under 100 points (per team lol)

It's hard to imagine anything more impressive than Tre Mason - 304 yards, four touchdowns and his da was in De La Soul.

Rose Bowl will pick Stanford or ASU to play against Ohio State or Michigan State if Auburn go to the BCS. If OSU go to the BCS I reckon it could be Stanford v Auburn alright.

The Rose Bowl love their Pac12/Big 10 match-up so it'll almost certainly be Michigan State, even if they lose to Ohio State.

If Auburn win the SEC and aren't in the National Championship Game, they'll be in the Sugar Bowl.

Alabama are probably headed for the Orange Bowl as it has the first pick of at-large BCS teams this year.

Well the way they've restructured the bowls in recent years means certain conferences are tied to certain bowls. The Pac-12 and Big 10 champions will always play the Rose Bowl in the event of the teams not playing in the BSC title game and the Rose Bowl itself not being designated as that year's BSC title game.

Yep, and the Rose Bowl more than any of the others seems to really value the conference tie-in. A few years ago, when Ohio State were in the title game they picked Illinois just to preserve their Pac 10 (as it was then)/Big Ten match-up.

I am pretty sure Hill St Brasserie has closed. I was past there a couple of weeks ago, and from what I could see, it was gone - it might be one of those Home Restuarants now. If I am wrong, then apologies

You could be right, I have tried ringing a few times and no answer.

Might look at this Porterhouse recommended by CD!

Was at Porterhouse on Tuesday and it was very good
