yes, but is it not all the more reason for everyone to answer questions?
I don't see why just because you have a job you should keep it or be automatically entitled to say I don't think I need to do an interview.

... and next thing you know ... he gets injured!

I think it's a great idea.

Is it only limited to Div 3 or 4 teams or all teams?

I can see a race to sign players from some Dublin clubs in a few years.

But my main point here wasn't about Banty or his staff ...

I was just looking at Banty, O'Brien, Brennan, McGeeney etc - reappointments and listening to talk of people not wanting to do interviews.

I would have thought it a good idea to have a review every 12 months.
Like I said, to ask questions like ...

Would there not be an opportunity to ask questions of him such as ...
"Why or where do you think we lost both matches this year?"
"Do you think we, the County Board, can do more to help you in X area?"
"What are your plans for next year?"
"Where are the main areas for improvement in your opinion?"
"From your experience over the past 12 months and longer, where do you see the areas our county needs to invest in underage?"
etc

Thoughts?

It's not turning out to be as big a threat as Mickey Harte suggested it might then?

I think you're mixing managing up with coaching
Then can we blame the coach for the flops as well or do we just applaud the coach for the successes? ::)

I think you are the one mixing up roles. Banty is the one who got in the coach and trainer, both of them have no doubt about the manager or maybe they have been well and truly hypnotised by Banty's bluff

Ha ha ... not sure it was the Banty's Bluff that hypnotized either them ... rumours are it was Banty's Bank that did that!

Maybe I am not as cynical as you, or so inclined to make very silly glib remarks
but it would not dawn on me that the integrity of men like Grimley or McElkennon can be bought.
Hypocritical. You made plenty of glib remarks earlier.

And what's integrity got to do with it? You're spouting pure rubbish to think or suggest that money is not the main motivating factor - everyone knows the situation in Monaghan.
Read the posts a bit more carefully.
You are glibly claiming that Grimley and McElkennon's fulsome expressed respect for Banty is motivated by money.
I regard that oft expressed respect from both of them, towards Banty as manager, as genuine.
In particular I regard McElkennon's statement as genuine when he went on record as saying that he would continue with his job in Monaghan as long as Banty would continue as manager.  I also regard the many times Grimley expressed his respect for Banty as manager, as genuine.
Yes, to degrade that expressed respect for Banty as manager by Grimley and McElkennon as motivated by personal gain (coins falling from Banty's pocket) is indeed cynical and attempts to put a slur on the integrity of those 2 men.
Oh thanks for clearing that up. For a minute I thought they were doing it all for free and the good of their health.
So the only reasons they're all with Monaghan and the motivation is all about integrity and respect for the Banty?

Sure.  ::)

That's a bit harsh, though I guess the manager has been gone for some time ago now.

I guess backroom teams may be a swaying factor at this stage.

Anybody have any details of proposed trainers, selectors etc.

Good point.
Which one is Jim Kilty with?

GAA Stars playing Aussie Rules in 2010.....

Adelaide Crows – Brian Donnelly from County Louth.

Brisbane Lions – Pearce Hanley from County Mayo, and Niall McKeever from County Antrim

Carlton Blues – Zach Tuohy from County Laois, and Setanta O'hAilpin from Cork

Essendon Bombers – Michael Quinn from longford.

Nth Melbourne Kangaroos – Conor Meredith from County Laois.

Richmond Tigers - Jamie O'reilly from County Down.

St Kilda Saints – Tommy Walsh from County Kerry.

Sydney Swans – Tadgh Kennelly from Kerry and Chris McKaigue from County Derry.

and Down minor player Caolan Mooney has just signed a two-year rookie contract with Collingwood

I think Meredith was delisted and Quinn will probably be on a plane home soon enough.

Is Walsh home or going back?

I think the issue is that an interview would be pointless. If the CB don't know what they're getting with Banty by now, they mustn't have been paying attention in recent years.
How is it pointless?

Would there not be an opportunity to ask questions of him such as ...
"Why or where do you think we lost both matches this year?"
"Do you think we, the County Board, can do more to help you in X area?"
"What are your plans for next year?"

etc

This is not specific to Banty, but every manager in the country should have to answer those few basic questions - from Counihan to McCartan to McGeeney. None should be above it.
They all should have to come in each year and have a 'chat' or 'interview' and answer a few questions.
It's never a witch hunt, it's an opportunity to explain to your employers what you've done and where you're going with things.
Banty isn't an employee.
You can argue that term - but the point being made is the same.

Noel Connelly - no substance. Just bluff and bluster in the dressing room.

John Maughan - been there and failed. County Board man and will not learn from his mistakes.

James Horan - untested, cannot take the risk. Does he have it anyhow?

Tommy Lyons - bullsh**er

Denis Kearney - yes he has done well with clubs but not good enough for us.

Anthony McGarry - nah, done nothing. Strike him off the list.

Micko - an old mercenary.

Tommy Carr - failed everywhere he went.

Harsh but IMO a true summary of each

Lyons will get it

I hope he does too as, for the rest of us, it'll keep him off the Sunday Game

Fair enough, but do you know enough about the likes of Connelly, Horan, Kearney and McGarry to be deciding that's a true summary of each?
The first two yes and the following two, not personally, but from what've been told probably close enough.
But let's be serious for a second ... they're not in with a real chance at all.

Lyons will most likely get it once it comes down to an interview and he spoofs at them for an hour and blinds them with BS.
