On the rough basis going by the percentages last Friday - In a GE -  FG 45 seats, FF 40, SF 30, Lab 10, Loonyleft 8, Greens 5, and a scatter of about 25 -30 various shades of Independent.
Some craic trying to form a Govt then  :D

At some point, FF an FG will cop on that they have far more in common than differences. (Where did I hear that before) and stop trying to con people to believing they are different.

At what point will our politicians bring the future plans of Jose Manuel Baroso to the doorsteps of their electorate.

As with all things The Hug Tackle would end up being abbreviated to the Huckle and youd have lads being asked at training "can ya do the huckle buck"

Tabhair dom mo chóta.

Longford is a lovely little county. Theres parts to it you'd never think existed. Been exploring all sorts of obscure boreens looking for different routes from work in Westmeath to home in Nth Roscommon. Been winding through Longfords off the beaten track venues skirting the border with Cyaaavan and on into also lovely Laytrum.

Dromard have a fine setup.

Offaly to spring the trap.

1.  Eliminate O'Byrne, McKenna and all meaningless competitions.
2.  Eliminate the Leagues.
3.  Leave Provinces intact and give them April to May to run their competitions as stand alones in whatever format they want.
4.  Run the All Ireland series in conference format along the lines of NFL and  retaining q/f, s/f, final format from Jun to Sep
5.  Drop compromise rules and leave Oct to March completely free to clubs
6.  6 months Club games, 6 months intercounty. Every gaa player in the country knows where they stand.

One of the worst afflictions Ireland suffers from is its entitlement culture. I am old enough to remember no live games bar All Ireland finals and semi finals. Even then there was one year rte didnt show an ai semi because it clashed with show jumping or something. No one has a right to anything for free. I went to see the local u16 in their div 3 final last year and was happy to pay a fiver in.

The one when Paddy McCormack sustained the eye injury that ended his career?

What age were you? - 9/10
Who was playing, what year  ? Offaly v Donegal 1972/3 Grounds Tournament
Who did you go with ?  Da
Do you remember anything about it ? Running  on with me little autograph book when the teams were kicking in and getting autographs from Martin Furlong, Paddy McCormack, Mick Ryan, Martin Heavey, Willy Bryan and Tony McTeague

It could be Plain. Don't remember it but remember me father talking about it when we were in McCormacks pub in Edenderry around the late 70's or early 80's.

I can understand kicking to touch for field position but is it ever a good idea to kicj away ball straight to an opponent. England were denied a try by inches and hit the upright with a penalty. Ireland had no such near misses
Thought Ireland were flatered by th margin. Sexton made some awful mistakes.

Its just another facet of progressive thinking v's human nature. One seeks to celebrate difference the other hates it.
We are a conflicted species and most likely always will be.

Its not for nothing we came up with the normal distribution curve.

Nth, Sth, East and West Divisions or conferences seem the most sensible way.
Keeps broad geographical connections and you still have 4 divisional/conference councils running their own competitions so no loss of power or esteem.

Only problem would be with the counties moving home. At least one of them would refuse to go along with it.

I don't know the intimate details of what went on with Adams and his brother but if he has questions to answer then absolutely they should be asked and answered in a law court.

My only problem is that I don't believe the motives of Dail politicians are anything to do with justice for his niece.

what did they do for you that made you think they were the 'most capable' was there anything you could point to eg medical card for a relative.. planning.. bin collection..
I not making fun of you.. Im serious was it a family thing what attracted you?

No recollection of any personal family "favours" from politicians.
There was a historical element, my grandfather carried arms for the Old IRA and I remember him being a big Dev supporter. That transferred to my mother and on to me. In my own youth I remember CJH as a brilliant politician and economist and his involvement in the Arms Trial added a bit of a dangerous edge that was attractive to an immature youth with republican sympathies. I grew up at a time when civil war politics were still very raw (and that not so long ago) so if you supported one side you hated the other, well in my house anyway.
It all started to fall apart with the dismantling of CJH and Bertie and McCreevey just killed it.
you now realise the three names above are now lower than a snakes belly and that dev was probably a double agent working for the brits who put countless old ira men to their deaths and who stole money donated by americans for the irish public.
I would hope that you would realise that the combined efforts of ff fg and labour to corner/embarrass Gerry adams are based on a fear of sinn fein gaining in the polls and nothing to do with his niece or the mcconville family or the families of the two police killed in south Armagh. expect more and more of the same as the election nears and don't forget but for sinn fein's intervention Irelands current president would be a ff bagman.. that's how easily it is to cod the irish voter

Are you not Irish? Do you not vote?
perhaps you Mexicans will let us nordies elect our president next time
Actually I completely agree about the treatment of Adams by competing politicians. Its all completely cynical and self serving. The use of the issue of his brother by politicians is stomach churning and just compounds my own cynicism towards politics in general.
