QuoteOnly England are allowed to win vintage 6 nations titles.

Don't be so sensitive.

It hasn't been a good 6 Nations but neither have most of them, so what.

Do you expect us to win the Grand Slam and have all the other countries proclaiming it as the greatest ever and bowing to our greatness?

100% correct muppet.  If we are to win on Saturday i'll be delighted.  What the journalists say wont make a difference to me and it shouldn't to anyone else.

We haven't set the tournament alight but we've probably been the best team - time to drop the chip on the shoulder

Barnes is an honest, excitable and in my opinion, a very fair pundit.  Anybody that takes an interest in rugby and doesn't just dip into it for 6 weeks of the year would know this.  He consistently praises Ireland when they perform well and criticises them when they don't - the same as he does with all teams.  It is understandable if he focuses a bit more on the English as theat happens to be where he is from.

As for Guscott, he is an extremely smarmy git.  However, he did say 2 weeks ago that when he looked at the Irish team he saw 7 Lions test starters in South Africa (generous praise indeed as i think it will be 5 at the very most).  If it is his opinion that we will choke next week then he has every right to state that. He has a tremendous amount of evidence to base his opinion on (i.e. - every high pressure match we have played in since we re-emerged as a force).  We ALWAYS choke.  Lets change that habit this week.

Sonny Joe - was at them surely!  Was also in Bellaghy last week and the amount of ball won at midfield was nothing short of alarming.  I think its fair to say that in recent years our best ball winning combination has been Bradley and Doherty (ably assisted by Muldoon at times as well as the ball winning skills of Murphy).

In response the the other question, my half back line would be O'Kane, McCusker and McGuigan (With McKaigue as first back up for winghalf - he will be a superb county player in time).  I would also utilise Barry McGoldrick in the position that McGuigan is currently employed in.

But am I the only one who feels we are but pawns in mickey harte s game

If we can win an AI without O'Neill, anything is possible. Could Kerry win an AI without Cooper?

Are you comparing the two? Catch a grip!

Interesting side - obviously still toying around to find the right combination.

Glad to see Barry McGuigan get his chance - would prefer it was in the half back line though.  In saying that, he is one lad who can operate in a number of positions.  Would like to see Patsy Bradley back in midfield as well.

At some point we are going to have to get the half back line in order - i'm not a fan of any of the current incumbents.

Whatever happened to Seamus Bradley? He has been left off the last two panels.
Would also like to see Ryan Dillon given a shot.

Don't think there will be more than 2 points in this either way.

That's a much better idea Benny but it takes the massive jackpot to attract idiots into buying a ticket in the first place.  If your suggested odds were on offer i would do the thing much more religiously than i do now. Can't remember when it started (1996 perhaps?) but i've won a tenner twice in all that time and i buy a ticket most saturday nights.

Congrats on the 5 no's girt but it must be a bit frustrating knowing that you were so close to something life changing.  Just think, you could have been living the life of Mickey Carroll!

I've noticed that Donagh tends to follow the party line in matters like this.  Everybody knows what happened in the bar that night, who was there and what exactly it was agreed to tell the authorities.  The fact that anybody feels like they can defend the actions of the multiple party members that were there that night is disgraceful.

I'm only commenting once on this as i have a personal interest in this matter that i don't want to get in to - i don't normally comment on the moronic tit for tat political ramblings of a few on this board.

BTW, Ronnie Drews family should have been consulted given the notoriety/political cover up now associated with the bar.

A few less Tyronies would help

I was waiting on someone to suggest that. Funny enough, I concur completely.

I agree with this as well.  If only there was a way to set some kind of quota.  The sheer amount of them means that all potentially good threads/discussions will deviate to the following discussions :-

Mickey harte is a bollox (Pre July last year)
Mickey Harte deserves a nighthood (Post september)
Mcmenaman is a p***k
McMenaman is a hardy boy
How much better is Sean Cavanagh than everyone else in the country?
Is Canavan the best player ever to lace boots? Is he f**k, what about Frank McGuigan, 5 points from the left...........
Was Mugsys goal the greatest score ever at Croke Park? Was it f**k. what about Doohers point last year
Tiger Woods comeback from injury? reminiscent to Brian McGuigan......
Brian Doohers bravery....???!!!
Brian McGuigan is awful unlucky isn't he (i agree with this by the way, just doesn't need to be reasserted in a daily basis
Leona Lewis the best singer to be discovered on reality tv show - what about Malachy Cush?
Kerry have some full forward line - its not better than ours
Beards - hilarious!!!??
Phone numbers on arms
Goading on the ground
Bollock fiddling
Dog fighting
Shite Irish news articles by Harte

Needless to say, it slightly irritates me that every conversation turns to one of the above!!!

QuoteI think there are different levels of thinkers within the GAA as there are in religion, business and other matters.  Harte is a deeper thinker than most and even if he dosent use buzz words or phrases or sensationalist attention grabbing language to me his deep thinking and analysis of the greater picture would put a few on here to shame.  Even if all we want to read is about the players and their bad habits and Mickey comes on and outlines a philosphy which a rising undercurrent of opinion believe might serve us well, we should turn the page if we dont understand - theres a few on here would rather throw cabbages - tis like a modern day Judean stoning somedays on here.   Perhaps too many here read the star, the sun and would forget more about Amy Whinehouse than they would remember about GAA.   Ask yourselves the wee question: Are you the junk food addict eating Lobster in a Michelin star restaurant but craving a sup of chips with it?  What level of thinking do you buy into the GAA, Is it pay for play, opening Croke Park or producing better balanced young irelanders?     I believe Mickey has the promise of a Mark Conway or Peter Quinn as one of the great deepthinkers within the GAA, who see the car before the headlights as opposed to those who just see the headlights.

jesus, what a load of unadulterated bollocks. It would be great if the mods enemies of free speech  on here weren't  so biased..... we could  have a proper discussion on Saint Mickey.

Perfect description of the previous post.
