Also strange that this has come about after I told youngfella that we have a few refs on here..............or not.

To be fair, as far as I know, the text didn't refer to this site at all, it specifically mentioned an Antrim refereeing thread on another site.

Can any of or contributors give anymore detail regarding the Johnnies and their problems understanding dates of birth. This seems to be a problem with the Feile  competition and managers not being able to recognise if someone is 15 or 14

For feck's sake, if they're not fighting, they're fielding over age players. What next??

Apologies for another of the "I said it myself" ones.

I was at the Down SHC final about 2-3 years ago at Portaferry. Unusually, my better half agreed to accompany me, on promise of lunch / few bevvies in the Portaferry Hotel beforehand.

During game, Ballygalget right half back clears the ball out of play & over the fence. Saw it coming & avoided aforesaid sliotar. But, wife gets the ball right on the nose, no real damage done, but eyes watering.

All I said to her was "only 1 prod in the entire ground & he got ya".

I thought all the big GAA matches were now being held in Parnell Park, to rest Croke Park for the "foreign games" !!!!!

I don't know what was said, but I was at an Ulster Club Hurling Final at Cushendall years ago between the home club & Ballycran I think it was. Anyway, I saw a young fella being press ganged & he was duly thrown over the fence onto the pitch side. Some ould fella of about 90 had got carried away & the false teeth had flown outta the mouth amid all the slabberin, over the fence & onto the turf. The young lad was thrown over the fence, lifted up the teeth as per instructions (although gingerly & with great reluctance), handed said teeth back to the ould lad, who stuck them back into his gob & he then resumed the commentary as if nothing had happened.

Hopefully alot of clubs will rearrange these matches themselves whenever the ACHL fixtures dry up in June

Aye, but will they fill the gap, which normally goes on till October / November time, given that the championships will be on a knock-out basis?

I hear that there was a terrible attendance at the game on Sunday. Must be shite for the players to put in all the effort and run out to an echo'y, empty Casement park. If the passion isn't there in the crowd, then it'll never come out of the team. Not enough antrim people care enough (including the players) about Antrim footballers. What are you gonna do? It's just the way it is.

Well, with the credit crunch, rising food prices, rising oil / petrol prices, imminent water charges etc, not many people are gonna want to fork out £8 to watch last Sunday's performance, are they? I hear the Ulster Championship match is going to be live on the TV, that'll not get many going to Casement.

GAA Discussion / Re: Injury advice please
April 01, 2008, 11:24:26 AM
Got hit in the chest with a hurling ball many years ago on a Saturday night during a game. Played on OK. Lined out again on the Tuesday night & knew I was in a bad way when I got hit early on with a shoulder. Straight to casualty, cracked rib diagnosed. Think I was out for a month or so. Rib injury can be dangerous, as there would be a danger of damage to the lungs, as far as I was told. So, take it easy for a while, I'd say.
