Well if they werent great footballers then they deserved the chop of course. As for Kielt the same guy told me he might play some role this weekend?
Apparently a hairline fracture according to the Derry thread so not ruled out completely.

It's about Leinster football and the Leinster Council, the All-Ireland is in effect a separate entity.
If you're good enough is just a cliche and a ridiculous assertion, sport at any level can be about margins, why do you think home advantage in any sport is so important?
To re-iterate I actually would believe Kildare have a better chance playing a semi in Navan/Carlow but I'm sure the players, management from K,LS or LH would like a game in Croker before they took on the might of the Dubs, the Leinster Council have an opportunity to the level the playing field, an opportunity that does not exist in the All-Ireland series but no they would sooner not promote their games and take the money instead.
Dublin have a better record in provincial grounds than Croke Park Dinny. If you're going to beat Dublin it'll be in Croke park. We've only lost 1 game at provincial grounds in the last 30 years. At the end of day its about revenue in a recession and we need to maximise it. Why lose out on 2m that the association can ill afford to lose out on at the moment. I see your point but I don't think the Gaa in the current economic climate as any choice.

Something wrong with the system whereby Limerick are guaranteed a spot in the last 12 by beating a Division Four team while Derry have to beat two Division One teams to reach that same stage.
Much as it pains me, I'm starting to think we should scrap the provincial system, OR go back to a straight knock-out.

We missed you max. Amazing we won with such useless players and no underage etc etc etc. I suppose you had €100 euro on cavan to win by a point too.
The GAAboard tourist is back I see. Remember when I posted after Tipperary beat us months ago that 'freak' results can occur in the league because of varying fitness levels and 'smaller' counties training harder for it than others, and Max's incisive analysis was:
...cant see the wood for the trees....thats as funny as I have seen in a while...not near wise. That warped sense of non reality explains it all
What's your dazzling insight on Tipp now, Max, since their defeat in championship to a Limerick team that had a comparable league record to Cavan's in the same division? Hmmm?
And also on Cavan, given that we beat last year's Ulster finalists/team who've been in All-Ireland series many times in recent years, and who count exceptionally well-run, utopian underage powerhouse counties such as Derry among their scalps of last year? Not to mention the big scalps of other years? And Cavan beat them without a minor or U21 success to speak of?
I can't wait for your laser sharp justifications drenched in hindsight and half truths....

According to todays Irish news Dooher is a doubt for this game, aggravated the groin injury playing for the clann's, came off as a precaution, hopefully it's not too serious!
The mention of Dooher and Derry always brings me back to the 2001 clash in the Ulster semis. Tyrone won that by scoring 2 goals in a couple of minutes in the second half (Cavlan, O'Neill and Dooher scored all three Tyrone goals that day).
Eamon Coleman made one hell of a run across the field to remonstrate with the ref. Tohill elbowed Holmes in the face. Derry got their revenge in the AIQF.

Didn't know where to post this article but thought it was relevant after all yer chat this week.
FOOTBALLER of the Year Sean Cavanagh believes referees must act faster and earlier if they're to rid the championship of cynical fouling.
The Tyrone full-forward accepts his side's Ulster SFC clash with Armagh on Sunday will be the subject of close scrutiny. That's a result of last weekend's stormy Ulster tie between Derry and Monaghan which saw one player red carded and 11 yellows dished out.
Cavanagh refused to criticise the players whom, he claims, will always try to get away with as much as possible. Rather he says it's up to referees to be more decisive and to lay down the law in the early stages of games.
"Maybe if referees took a bit more authority and forget about old rules and new rules and concentrate on implementing the rules we might be able to play good, free flowing football," said Cavanagh.
"You don't mind taking the hits as long as they are within the rules.
"But when players are getting away with pulling and dragging away from the ball and scuffles at every opportunity then referees, linesmen and umpires have to deal with it accordingly.
"I don't think it's a point of new rules versus old rules; it's a point of playing within the rules and having them properly enforced."

And he hasn't even played in an Ulster final yet.
