I understand that the new S&C coach is being very well received by the Tyrone players. Adding to the solid base they had previously but more meticulous preparation. Be interesting to see if this has any effects on how they play but any comments I have heard back are very good. In fairness he has come from a professional set up, so he is bringing all of that with him. Seems like a very good appointment.

I understand that he is removed from the players WhatsApp group. So looks as if the story is correct.

QuoteCookstown tried that behaviour in D1 awhile ago too. Very few teams in senior football will let a newly promoted team bully them or attempt to.

Cookstown of 2010-2013 came to mind here. They became the most hated team in the county for a while. It hasn't ended well for them in the long term however they did win 2 all-irelands. Lochmacrory doing a cookstown without the silverware :-\

I mind that outfit alright, played against them....some interesting characters. Unfortunately now seems like they are seeing the results of dividing the club

They weren't that well behaved on Sunday past either.

QuoteThe match up will be
McNamee on Clifford
O'Brien - R Brennan
HP McGeary on Geaney
]

I can see Meyler picking up O'Brien. Has the legs to match him. And probably Brennan on Geaney.

Expect Tyrone to be very competitive this weekend. Stating the obvious but we need to converting the majority of our chances, including any half goal chances. in the AIF last year our conversation rate was very poor, even in the last 10 minutes when we were coming back at Dublin we were snatching at chances.

Sean O Se is still a cub but he can be so good with his frees and we don't have that sort of free taker from distance. Harte and McShane have improved our ratio of frees converted from inside 40 yards but I'd say our frees from 40 yards out isn't as good as Dublin or Kerry. Couple of missed frees can be the difference.

Brian Kennedy, if he starts, needs to learn to break ball or at least be a spoiler. Yes he is young but if his only job this weekend is to stop Kerry winning clean ball on their kick out then he'll have done a good job. Morgan won't lump it out though, like Mayo did in the match in Killarney. Tyrone are ahead of Kerry in terms of kick out strategy, we'll get possession there. I don't think we can live of scraps, possession wise and score more than Kerry but I think we are smart enough and more experienced than Kerry to hold our own there.

I can't see us starting like we did against Cork in the first half, we were so slow in that half, but will we push 2-3 men up front? Maybe tight in the first half and see how the game develops.

watched the highlights there on TG4. Young Canavan is a good one. Spit of the father, the way he plays. Same run, head up, two feet, slipping tackles. If the U20s were out he'd be straight into the senior set up.

I dont think I ever saw Hampshey ever roasted as bad in my life either. Suppose Murphy was due 1 against him as Hampshey as regularly won that battle

Surprised Hampsey started. Didn't train at all last week. Thought Harte said he wasn't going to start a player if he wasn't fully fit.

I'd love 4-5 Kieran McGeary's on that team There was one instance in the second half, game was over and Donegal had another break up field, ball came to Paddy McBrearty. McGeary was behind 2-3 other Tyrone players who were jogging back and he sprinted as hard as he could to make up ground. Didn't get the block in but he gave it a good shout. Attitude is so important.

Just noticed on the Derry goal, all the Tyrone defenders stopped when the ref blew the whistle for the catch by the forward. Forward plays on, quick pass and back of the net. Moral of the story now is NOT to play to the refs whistle and floor the forward when he catches the ball.

Cluxton for me is the best in his position for the past number of years and rightly could/should be awarded an All Star each year that Dublin wins the All Ireland. He is so important to how they play and rarely makes a mistake. I think the mistake Beggan made against Tyrone should be a massive black mark against him. That wasn't his job to shoot wildly from distance. It wasn't a goal keeping mistake, like dropping a ball on his own goal line, that would be understandable but he ventured upfield and hoofed the ball to no man and cost Monaghan a chance to draw that game.

In the AIF Cluxton was inch perfect. The mark of a standard out player is that calmness under pressure. Cluxton for me is the common link that makes various Dublin teams over the past number of years so good. When he goes Dublin just won't be as good.

Spectator hit with Brooks Koepka tee shot looses her eye. Pros very rarely duff their tee shots but it is a bit mad standing so close to the tee box when lads are driving golf balls at 190mph or whatever speed they leave the club face. Not long before there are exclusion zone around tee boxes and spectators around greens and fairways will be issued with hard hats.

Great to be back in an All Ireland Final. That doesn't happen too often in the history of Tyrone football so it is a tremendous achievement. Credit to the players and management for that.

On the game itself, very much a mixed bag from Tyrone. Looked like they would steamroll Monaghan early on but poor shooting and shot selection kept Monaghan in the game. Then to give away two stupid points in the last minute of the first half. Sloppy pass for the first one and Morgan fluffing his kickout again. It is his role to make sure that all defenders are outside the 21 before taking his kick. That said defenders need to be sprinting outside the 21, to allow the quick kickout. I'm sure Monaghan were wondering how they were level at half time.

Tyrone were poor in the second half. Just about deserved to get over the line but had they lost they would point to Peter Harte messing up his chance and McClure ballooning the ball when in acres of space but when the game needed to be slowed and possession kept.

Loads for Tyrone to work on for the final but can they even get close to Dublin?
