Valencia have to be closer this yr, they have added to a previously strong squad but I'm unsure if they have right manager in Quiqe Sanchez Flores. Lost 3-0 on Villareal the other night and ended with 9 men. Rossi scored a pen, think he'll do well.

Awful what happened to Puerta the other night. Passed away yesterday.

Without doubt the most exciting league.

GAA Discussion / Re: Donaghy's "tackle" on Ryan

There is no rule that suggests a red card is warranted when a cycnical/professional foul is committed, thats not to say it shouldnt be addressed. Thus, the yellow was the correct punishment. I was delighted he made the tackle as would any fan who's country player made it in order to prevent a clear cut goal chance.

ALSO comparing a crude foul the Star made on Ryan to stop him progressing with the Gooch being taken out by Francie is a waste of time. There is no grounds for comparison.

Cork will give us a lot of trouble. Dara needs a great game, not 10 mins here and there as has often been the case this yr. That said Murphy is a a worthy allstar and wont be dominated for a full game so I think Gooch and Sheehan will be the deciding factor as they may have too much for Cork. Kerry by 1-2pts in a tough (surprise surprise) game.

So 1.5 games really if you exclude the provincial (which isnt relevant) game.

Quality ball=better ball coming in.

Bottom line I think its naive to dismiss a tactic that won Kerry an AI last yr on the back of a bad game.

While the 15 there are all great individually the team just doesnt "shape" up.

Sorry didnt fully read 1st post. Still Tohill as forward??

I suppose we'll agree to disagree but the Star's change worked last yr cos we mixed it up with a combo of decent long/high ball to him as well as quality ball to corners whihc relied on their movement to cause trouble. Our game was so one dimensional in the 2nd half against Monaghan (I can understand where you are coming from as a result) it played into their hands but better quality ball can ensure this is avoided. It was so hit and hope it became more and more frustration and it negates what people like the Gooch naturally brings to the game.
Also we got alot scores against Cork from hitting Star so its not all doom and gloom. Just think you're being a little extreme.

What were u doin there bigman?

Silvestre or O'Shea. Though I think we'll look to strengthen there again but not before we take care of the Neviller's replacement first.
Surely Evans will never play left back???

I always liked Heinze as a player, as i think most united players did. But as soon as he hadn't the bottle to fight for his place against a very average player in evra, then he went way down in my estimation. stomach for the battle is the biggest attribute to have in sport and he doesn't have it.

True but I'd take Evra above him all day at the moment. Admittedly he has his shakey games but is better going forward and is improving defensively. Heinze on the other hand has gone back an awful lot which was a consequence of his injury sustained in Villareal 2 yrs ago. He turns like a bus and is more suited to centre half now but I'm sure he'll do ok with Real where he'll prob replace Carlos ar LB.

Mossy was v unlucky yr after being taken off 20 min into the Cork game in Killarney. Any of 6 could have been taken off as Cork were dominating midfield but he seemed to, unfairly, get the blame. Hasnt had a decent run in championship since.

My Griffin at midfield suggestions are probably getting repetitive but would like him to start there.
