This was discussed at length at the time and I think everyone was in agreement that there could have been better and more central facilities that could have been invested in.

But we are where we are and going over old ground will not make the builders go in and lift the stands at Corrigan and move them to Randalstown or Antrim

Unfortunately with Antrim there has been plenty of if's and everyone is an expert looking in. We'd only, at this point been without Casement had we just kept it open and played there till when the builders came in.

Good point, the money should have been given to Tir na nOg  ;D

I'd say you are one of the clubs with the best facilities in Antrim as it is. There's a ton of land around it to potentially expand (depending on who actually owns that land). TNN, Antrim or Ballymena would have been perfect IMO but I suppose there's no point crying over spilt milk.

From a selfish point of view, I'd love Casement to be built to have that proper home for Antrim GAA although if I'm honest it probably is a waste of money. How many times have Antrim even filled Corrigan for a county match?

If Casement doesn't happen if the Euros pulls the plug on the money is there a case to build something smaller elsewhere?

Spoiling a vote is better craic anyway, can write whatever you like on it

I've worked in the count before. You can get a bit of giggle at the table about something written on a spoiled vote alright. That's probably about all who sees it.

Is there a way they can find  out who's  voting card it was that was  spoiled?

Like, if  you wrote "f**k the DUP" on yours,  would there  be a way of the DUP finding out  you did that, so  they wouldn't bother to send you an election  leaflet next time (last  I heard , parties knew if you voted at all , so maybe they'd know  you spoiled your vote?)

Or what about if someone wrote something  offensive or  racist? Is there any comeback?

Asking for a friend  ;D
Ballots have serial numbers attached to you / electoral register. Confidentiality is a bit of a myth & ends outside the voting booth. If you wrote I'm going to shoot wee Jeffrey D you'd soon get a swat team visit.

Yeah this is true. The two folk at the table mark you off the register as having voted but they also call your number out and the other person writes it down to what ballot paper it was issued. For example your number 43 so they'd write 43 beside ballot paper 654 then if there was something on there like a death threat it could definitely be traceable.

Quote from: lurganblue on February 13, 2024, 09:16:10 AMThe kickoffs need a real overhaul. Either move the kick back 30 yards and encourage returns or do away with them and just start offense from the 25 yard line

It's not that long ago that they moved the kick offs forward as the amount of injuries coming from special teams plays was higher than any other plays. I don't think they can really abolish them though as while in the majority of games they're pointless. If you're 2 scores down late in the game, the possibility of an onside kick still gives you a chance. They would need to come up with an alternative to that before taking it out of the game.

There are some really random things in the sport. Not least the KO where they charge down the field even though the ball has been booted into the far stand. Weird.

This is a really stupid post.

Harsh. The poster clearly doesn't watch the game so asked some questions which have been answered.

He didn't drop it though. He wasn't intending to catch the ball, but it hit the foot of one of his own players so he had to try grab it to prevent one of the Chiefs catching it and scoring a touchdown.
I have to say I really enjoyed the game even though I wanted San Francisco to win. As I watch more and more games, my appreciation of the defensive side increases (unlike Gaelic Football). Mahomes and Kelsey sparked into action when the chips were down and experience won out. SF should probably have stuck more to the running game.

Because the way it's designed is you see where the kick is going then make a decision on what to do. If the ball rolls into the end zone you start the play from the 25 yard line. If the other team get to it before the end zone you could be starting at the 1 or 2 yard line. His intention was to fake the catch to then make the Chiefs slow down and not catch it before the end zone. If he did catch it, he could make a run forward and the play starts from where he gets tackled. Once the receiving team touches the ball it's fair game so in this instance the guy was trying to block the KC player but it hit his leg and therefore became live and up for grabs.

He was incredibly unlucky on that play. He was letting the ball go to roll into the end zone for a touchback but it ended up hitting the coverage mans leg which made it a live ball and he therefore had to try to get it and react to something that happened about 5 yards in front of him.

Overall the defensive players and coaches had a great day to really stifle key offensive players and it wasn't until they tired a bit that the offences really got going. 49ers were superb for most of the game. Probably the most criticism I'd give them was a period when they were in front when they moved away from McCaffrey. If you can, run the ball and manage the game.

Good defensive battle. 49ers had some huge opportunities but the Chiefs continually get shit done.

Both defences are making plays TBF. 49ers look a bit better in possession but not converting on key plays. Proper old school battle.

I don't mind Maroon 5. Couple of decent tunes. I was never really a fan of Usher.

Favourite one ever was Dr Dre for me.

49ers dominating, particularly on defence but need that to show on the scoreboard.

Goalie pulled ball down from going over the bar with his stick and it dropped in behind the line
Forward came in an fouled him afterwards but by that time he was picking ball out of net area just behind the line.
Bad mistake but like most of these things there was plenty of players outfield that fumbled ball and lost possession leading to scores.
Between that and the Dublin physio delaying play and the time not added on, it was a sick way to lose the points.

Good to have Campbell and mc Kenna back, some of the new players struggled but let's judge them after a full league campaign.

That makes sense actually. I saw the stick going up and thought it was the usual that the goalies do when the balls going over the bar. So he pulled it down and into the goal, disaster.

I thought Coby was brilliant as was Niall McKenna. Coby's goal was brilliant TBF. Great catch, then he was taking the point then realised he had space and finished brilliantly.

Hopefully we can bring a few of that bench on and get them time on the pitch. Still very young but it would be good to see them kick on.

Another good episode with Lindsay Peat. Competed internationally in rugby, basketball and soccer as well as winning an All Ireland with the Dubs.

Probably the least interesting bit was the GAA story as I remember watching Cliodhna O'Connors episode a few years ago and that kind of covered that same period and the mad run of losses to Cork.
