Good article in the Irish news about Dunloy footballers. They are definitely a club who have produced some good footballers over the years e hurling has taken precedence. Them and ld should be very interesting.

Good win for them in that reserve cup last night too.

I fancy them tomorrow night to cause an upset, very good side

It'd about being shaffed,3pts up even 1 pt up and LD didn't keep thier end because they thought they wouldn't finish up as winners off the group if pg1 won by 8 or more so as I say shaffed us and not pg1 as I said, that's why 10/3 was appetising to day the least  f**king cess

Yas gonna play intermediate next year?

GAA Discussion / Re: Standard of Refs
August 06, 2023, 06:31:01 AM
Wow referees get it tough. Hoping to get back into the game after retiring as a player, don't think the dedication of a coach or manager would be for me. Was thinking might take up the whistle but how I've seen referees treated prob wouldn't be worth it. I've always treated refs with
Respect, if I've ever questioned them they've answered me cause I haven't resorted to calling the
names. My young boy is football mad and if I was refereeing would I want to bring him to a game where his da is beingcalled every name under the sun? Def not. I've played nearly every position apart from GK and I've prob had more bad games than good, the luxury being I've had 14 other fellas to pull me out, if a ref is Having a bad game it's him and him alone takes the flak.

Fair play to the referees, hardest job there is.

Is there an appeal from St.Endas about being relegated to division 2? is there a restructure of the leagues?

What would they be appealing? I think they were looking points from money glass game but it was a draw so would get them 1 extra point and they're still down.

No issue with testing any county player who is in receipt of GPA funds

I think it's one of the Sports Council pre-requisites for doling out the loot

Taking that money confers a certain responsibility on a player IMO

Now, club teams is an entirely different thing entirely...
If the GAA really did want to make a stand they'd do random testing of club and county teams. Zero tolerance, anyone with illegal drugs in the system gets a year ban. How long does the likes of coke etc stay in the system?

Are we doing other banned substances for club players? how long would Anabolic steroids, give them a year ban also, anyone using ventilators to the scum bags

crazy, lads who are maybe young and dabbling get drug tested, banned from the club for a year, their parents find out and they are the tall of the town/ village. What is that gonna do for the lad, make them feel better or send them further down the substance abuse road.

We talk about the GAA being a community organisation but we are gonna ban lads/ girls from taking part and being involved because they took a recreational drug? seems a bit much to me

Head to head includes score difference between the teams.

Unless TNN take something at St John's they are gone along with St Endas.

are St Endas down regardless of their result against St Galls?

Which makes we wonder. Are us GAA folk also responsible for the alcoholism and gambling problems rife on our island? Is it our fault that our locals won't integrate nicely with those "freeloading foreigners"? Was it our fault that paedophilia was allowed to run rampant in the Catholic Church, or that wifebeating was traditionally such a popular pastime in Ireland?

I'm not sure that the GAA has not turned a blind eye to a bit of wife beating even in more recent times.

In relation to cocaine, the GAA didn't originate the problem but it should not turn a blind eye either.

Serious question, what can the GAA do, bar maybe run the odd workshop to highlight the dangers of drugs there's not much else they can do

Entourage 19 years old today...it was an enjoyable watch!

What a show, Jonny Drama has to be one of the best characters ever in a TV series, class comedy value. id also love to see a writer try put a character like Ari Gold in a show now just to see twitter explode, he was class. What a show

advantage rule in gaa is terrible, surely if a player passes the ball and his team continue on then that is the advantage? I hate the 5 second rule make it easy for refs, if the player gets the ball away and the team are still attacking then thats the advantage.

Step back and think about this.

One of the most mediocre wingers in Ireland's history is about to hit the 100 cap mark.

That a series of managers have had to rely on McClean should be indication enough that Ireland aren't underachieving these days, and that the manager isn't the issue.

Well , think  about this then ....... Aidan mc geady  got 93 caps.  Yup, you read that right,  ninety three. That is more  than Paul McGrath,  Niall Quinn, Packie  Liam Brady or Roy Keane

Mc clean  at least gets stuck in . Reckless at times , but  I'd have him in the  team ahead of mcgeady  any day. And  ahead of a  lot of those other players  around now

McGeady was a far far better player than McClean would ever be, not even close

Need the white spray, for both for the kicker and the lads that don't know how far 13 meters is..

I know that's partially in jest but it would be far more effective in Gaelic than soccer, any free inside the 45 should be marked with the spray unless it's quickly taken

North Belfast is getting stronger I think - the Pearses club too are improving and Ardoyne football wise for where they were at have improved a lot. I see a lot of things appearing on social media now pushing for them to get council pitches etc which they seem to get very little of. Also St Endas now has a large membership and division 1 in both. (They are more or less north belfast...).

Hopefully longer term it'll be good for the county.

(Not to forget the wolfe tones club too)

seen that as well, think the tweets I seen were from the Wolfe tones chairman, then seen Pearses ones comment too. Madness how tough it is to get GAA council facilities for them hopefully they can get some good news soon
