From arsenal.com

Jimmy Rimmer
Man Utd (1967-72): 46 apps - Arsenal (1973-76): 146 apps
The Lancashire born goalkeeper's Old Trafford highlight was a spot on the bench for the 1968 European Cup Final, but with his chances limited he went first on loan to Swansea City, before joining the Gunners. At Highbury he replaced the retired Bob Wilson as the Club's No 1. It was with Arsenal he won his solitary England cap. He left North London for Aston Villa.
Brian Kidd
Man Utd (1967-73): 264 apps, 70 goals - Arsenal (1974-76): 90 apps, 34 goals
Like Rimmer, Brian Kidd was part of the 1968 European Cup Final squad. His time with United, though, was much more successful than the stopper. His time with Arsenal was short and he headed back up north, this time to play for Manchester City. Kidd went on to form part of Sir Alex Ferguson's backroom staff.
Jim Leighton
Man Utd (1988-93): 94 apps - Arsenal (1991 loan): 0 apps
Leighton started his career at Aberdeen under Sir Alex Ferguson, and followed his manager to Manchester in 1998. Unfortunately Jim found life at United harder than he had in Scotland and found his chances limited by Les Sealey in goal. Arsenal was his first loan stop, that later included a time at Reading.
Matt Wicks
Man Utd (1995): 0 apps, 0 goals - Arsenal (1996): 0 apps, 0 goals
Wicks was touted as 'the next Tony Adams' having graduated from the FA Centre of Excellence. Despite an attachment to Arsenal, joined Manchester United in 1995. Court cases over the move ensued and Matt eventually returned to the Gunners without featuring at Old Trafford. A similar fate occured at Highbury with Wicks eventually joining Crewe Alexandra.
Mikael Silvestre
Man Utd (1999-2008): 361 apps, 10 goals - Arsenal (2008): 0 apps, 0 goals
Mikael enjoyed nine very successful years at Old Trafford, earning four Premier League winners medals. He became a fixture in the French national time while at Old Trafford and is Arsenal's fifth signing of the summer.

Wenger: 'There is interest, always, in Barry'
By Richard Clarke
Arsène Wenger may still sign one more player before the transfer window closes and, to use his exact words, "there is interest, always," in Gareth Barry.
On Wednesday, the Arsenal manager pulled off a surprise by bringing in Mikael Slivestre from Manchester United. The Frenchman can fulfil roles at centre back or left back but not in central midfield, the area in which Wenger had said he needs re-enforcement.
"I can surprise you sometimes, as I got one who you did not expect," said the Arsenal manager at Thursday's press conference. "And there still might be one more player coming in.
"You know the position, but I cannot tell you much more than that." When asked directly about Barry, the manager replied: "There is interest always."
"I do not want to give you any names," he went on. "But we are not in a desperate situation because we have Alex Song back from the Olympics, Abou Diaby does not look too far away and hopefully we can have good news from Tomas Rosicky in the next two weeks.
"We are not short, short but one more body is possible."

I think he'll be a good adition to the squad.  He should be good enough to keep Senderos on the bench for a few games at least or maybe even play as a holding mid-fielder.

Oh, I didnt post it but that story was on arsenal.com

Arsenal announce signing of Mikael Silvestre
Arsenal has today signed French defender Mikael Silvestre on a two year deal having joined the Gunners from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

Silvestre (31), an experienced and versatile player, has been with Manchester United since 1999 winning a host of domestic honours including four Premier League titles, one FA Cup winner's medal and a League Cup winner's medal. Silvestre was also part of the UEFA Champions League winning side of 2008 and made a total of 361 appearances for the Manchester side, scoring 10 goals.

Silvestre, who debuted for French national side in 2001, has also made a total of 40 appearances for Les Bleus. Highlights of his international career so far are winning the Confederations Cup in both 2001 and 2003 and reaching the World Cup Final in 2006.

Mikael said on signing for the Gunners: "I've spent a large part of my career at United, the last nine years, and I'll remember that time fondly but feel I'm ready for a new challenge. Arsenal is known for playing technical and skilful football, and has a young but experienced squad. I'm really excited about this next stage of my career, hopefully playing my part in helping the Club to new successes."

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: "We have a strong squad but a young squad and Mikael's versatility, experience and calibre will provide the extra depth we need to reinforce our challenge for honours this season. His defensive adaptability will serve us well and it's a big plus that Mikael has top level experience and a great understanding of football in the Premier League."

Mikael will join up with his team-mates immediately and will wear shirt number 18.

Auenschutze should win tonight, the trainer says so. Shit price though in the next at sligo, my boss' horse out over the next few says-inner voice its called, will post if i hear anything.

I've had Inner-Voice in my tracker since it was second to Afasheen in Roscommon a while back, stormed home late on in that race.  Anywho, I was away both times it ran since, winning once at 11/4 and placed in Perth (I think) at an e/w price so I missed the e-mails.  Was going to have a punt on it tonight anyway but any info would be appreciated Niall.

If I am correct they won Ulster last year and were beating by the eventual All Ireland champions the year before that. Perhaps the hype of all the underage talent in Tyrone is only a myth!!!!!!!!

They won an Ulster last year, but it could have been an All-Ireland. And the previous year they where beat by a decent enough Donegal team. If I'm not mistaken it was Roscommon won the All Ireland that year.

Very true Tyrone86, after Connacht Roscommon beat Tipperary, Meath and then Kerry in a replay to win it out in 2006

There's an "Irish" bar in Agadir situated between the beach and main Square.  I couldnt swear whether or not they show live GAA though, it was early May '07 when I was there.  To be honest I wouldnt hold out much hope.

not big profit on the sale but a profit all the same. Lets hope nasri can fill the void. We need more goals from mdfield ala pires and freddie

Do any of ye think that Nasri and Cesc are very similar players.  Will they be able to play in the same team or has Wenger another role planned for Nasri in the same way he moved Henry from the wing?
