Quote from: thejuice on May 06, 2024, 08:31:28 AMIt would be great to see a real minnow win this.

We'll need a 3 tier Championship for the real minnows to win one.
Of the 4 Finalists to date 3 were once strong Counties going through bad patches with nearly 20 Sams between them.
if actually agree with you in that. But like junior inter and senior. 2 in final go up each year regardless of league position

I think Antrim had a fair few injuries in league. Lost back now. But surely it's Kildare , Fermanagh Down to lose , that been said would love to see a Wicklow Sligo or Antrim win it. Can Leinster teams do a 3 in a row ?

Reckon Wicklow have a scalp in them as well.
yeah I'd agree with that

Meath v Kerry Portlaoise?
Tyrone v Connacht Breffni if Ros, Longford if Galway?

Portlaoise? Good god man have you any idea how far it is from places like Ballinskelligs to even Limerick!

Thurles at least I would hope and if that's not available, Nenagh or the Gaelic grounds.

from places like bettystown and ballinabrackey (both clubs have players on Meath team) portlaoise is same distance as from Kerry

Meath v Kerry. Will be one hell of a game. I'm not been cocky but I honestly believe that we will win and go onto win the all Ireland

Quote from: Schkite on April 30, 2024, 03:24:46 PMWould be happy enough with that draw from a Monaghan perspective, though Meath and Louth probably thinking the same thing.
. We would be if we had a different manager. Unfortunately under Latin boy I fear we have no chance. Next year under the u20 manager we will take a giant step forward but this year is a write off for our senior team I'm afraid. Would love to be proved wrong.

Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on April 30, 2024, 09:29:11 AMNot being smart here but one of the lads from the Meath team that was interviewed had as strong a Dublin accent than I've heard from any Dublin player in a long time.

Is the Dublin Meath border where Meaths football stronghold is now? Dunboyne (always had sun accent) rathoath and ashbourne. They'd be among the top 8 in county.

Fantastic win. A great attitude shown by all. The future is bright with these lads. But we have to install O"Bric as senior man to fully achieve what these lads can. Well done to all.

Quote from: Jell 0 Biafra on April 24, 2024, 03:34:31 AMCongratulations to Louth and Meath.  Hopefully those U-20s can be part of successful senior teams.
.
Lot of them u20s are from the minor all ire and Leinster winning team from Meath.  That's why so many of us gets annoyed when we here no underage succes been spouted by o'se and co. We have extremely talented footballers coming up. Some on senior team already like frayne etc who have won Leinster at underage and indeed in this group who have minor all ire medals. Now that does not guarantee success at senior but it gives a good foundation. O'Bric the current u20 manger and the one who managed the minors to all ire has to be installed as senior manager next year. To allow these players to come through and develop what is there. I said it before under him Meath will win Leinster and challenge for sam within 5 years. But if we keep with Colm we will go nowhere and probably lose many of these players to other sports

Brilliant from Meath tonight. With two of our best players out injured. (Along with earlier injuries). Some performances. Great game management and brilliant performance from sideline.

I have a problem with who sponsors a team having an input into who manages the team. I find that worrying, I know it's gone on for years and years. But it's very worrying. Look at cork and Sligo this weekend. Meath can't do that. Why ? If we draw say Kerry and Galway in championship they will hammer us.  We need a total wipeout of every delegate and official at cb and at management. Start all over. That's our only hope

Quote from: imtommygunn on April 17, 2024, 08:36:24 AMAh thanks. Fwiw as an Antrim man I would speak highly of mcentee. He has brought a professionalism to the Antrim setup. We still aren't a big team by any stretch but he's definitely done good things imo. He has his detractors with not letting players go for club games but I think that is par for the course for county managers.
.

No problem. Yeah Andy can be a bit rough. But players genuinely want to play for him.

Quote from: imtommygunn on April 16, 2024, 08:49:14 PMWhat do you mean by what has happened since?
O'Rourke I take it? Someone had a good post up yesterday about him.
yep.
Look I idolised him as a player but he just hasn't worked out, he had the rift with McGill (Meath poty) and he hasn't played since, James mcentee motm v Down (round robin) in tc gone , Shane mcentee, gone, harnan gone , young Flynn motm in tc final gone, Danny Dixon gone  I could go on. But it's not only that. Cb cut legs from under mcentee in last year too by voting against him continuing. Last year we had eivers (Donegal all ire winning coach under mcguinness)and garrigan (Meath ladies all Ireland winning coach) involved but apparently they were unhappy with level of their input both were dismissed this year. Eivers left navan and straight back to Donegal where he is doing a great job. Garrigan was given something by Meath co board. We were promised a top level coach. We didn't get one. We did include Trevor Giles a fantastic player but not much experience on the coaching end of things.
So my point is that what has happened since hasn't improved us if anything we have regressed.
