Cavan / Re: Official Cavan GAA Thread
January 09, 2014, 06:39:09 AM
Longford only started 2 of their starting championship team from the summer in their 2 matches to date. Last night one of them was the goalie. A lot of experimenting going on with jack at the moment whether its the right thing in the long run is debatable but if the team that lines up against Cavan is remotely close to the ones that have played in the last week then we are rightly foooked!

SS I think i know what you were referring to but I did think we had moved on from there..parties and all. Insiders story is a lot more plausible but I can't understand how one individual can be allowed to control it like this. Its a poor reflection on the co. board. When I was back in dear old ireland I had with work the need to visit the leitrim and cavan websites quite frequently and up until about a year ago Longford would have been the best of the 3 for having things up to date. Right now its so far behind the others its embarrassing.....anyway shur I'll get all the news here I suppose..

On a slightly different note is there any reason the Longford website appears to have have died a death with the exception of results/fixtures. Living on the other side of the world means  i make more use of it than I'd like. Surely to God having a full time paid secretary might at least guarantee that there would be a modicum of keeping it up to date??

Well done to the Mullinalaghtas........I'm sure whatever Peter done the Laeder will note the unjustness of his red card.!! Going by that particular publication they are the only unjustly treated team in the county and unfortunately for them it appears to happen quite regularly!!!

And actually in Arva (which is a small town) when it comes to catchment area they really have a very small area to pick from. They are about 2 miles to the Leitrim border and about 1 to Longford (and there are only a couple of houses in co. cavan on these roads), If you then consider how close to the town the catchment areas of Gowna, cornafaen and Killeshandra (actually part of the same parish) come then most of the players either come from the town itself or within a couple of miles of it.

QuoteArva is on the border of both Leinster and Connacht, Dromard and Colmcille in Longford and Carrigallen in Leitrim.
ah rodney..where the 3 provinces meet. not a nicer place in the world!! The local soccer club even takes its name from it....UCL

Ah I knew he didn't own it. Hence the question. Thought it was strange to begin with that they set it up the way they did with him when it was almost certainly gonna be a temporary position he had with the team. Having a different s&c coach is likely to have avery detrimental effect on him trying to run a seperate business from there.

Was at the games last weekend. Just incredible to see so many irish out here playing the game. Our 2 boys had a great time. Incredible the amount of non irish playing. One young lad from kl could kick frees as good as you'd ever see. Great to see bernard brogan, brian mullins and mark rohan out celebrity bainisteoring. Also martin skelly who gave a lot of time presenting medals and meeting people etc. The legend michael o'muircheartaigh is a patron of the asian gaa as well and did some commentating on jeromes videos and presenting medals and spoke to anyone that spoke to him. He's probably in about 5000 photos after the weeekend. A real legend. Oh malaysia is crazy spot though!!

That redcafe is a gas site....for the past 2 weeks you couldn't avoid the rafael has to play right full, smalling should be playing centre half he's not a full back, rios goosed, evans should be starting ahead of him, what is wrong with hernandez he can't get a game... much better finisher than welbeck, young and valencia are forty different shades of shite and he won't give Nani or Kagawa a run at all...they are 50 times the footballers....................low and behold they get Rafael at fullback, Smalling and Evans in the centre, Nani and Kagawa ahead of Valencia and Young, the we pee god love him up front and every tenth post in relation to last nights games is .....and utd with their second string outfit!!!!! oh the irony

Why do these places need so many pitches. ...cavan have the 3g and half size training pitch behind breffni and I'd say
its loads. Was at the Louth one last year and there must have been 5 mostly  flood lit pitches.  When are even 3 of them used at the same time. .....
