Can anyone confirm or deny the story the Belfast Telegraph and Hoganstand are trying to push that a Coalisland supporter lent over the railing and "hit" Leo Meenan?? I didn't see anything from were we were

I was in the stand and I seen the incident but obviously couldn't see who the culprit was as it was over on terrace side but have since heard the name involved....the Irish Independent are following the story as well so won't be the last we hear of it.

When I heard who it 'reportedly' was it doesn't surprise me in the slightest !!!

So what exactly did you see?
Around the 24th minute Meenan was standing up against the wire facing the field, about to hit a sideline ball whe a "well built" chap reached over and warmed his ear.
Just saw it on the video of the match, No bother identifying the culprit from the video. Though as I am not from that part of the world I couldn't name him.
Would love to get a yarn with the man that done it to see what his motivation was. Would could leo have done on him
Do you think there is any justification for a cowardly blow from behind?
no

I think Coalisland put everything they had into the 2 games against Clonoe, wont be easy getting the intensity back up to that level. I guess Killyclogher will have an easy day and run out winners by 4-5 points

Ha, not too many championships I can mind were won as easy as your prediction

Coalisland for me, just think they have the extra power and when they match Killycloghers pace I think they will edge it. How Steven Mc Nally was let was go from the county panel is a mystery. Absolutely great player

I would fear your theory on Coalisland put everything into the win over Clonoe, at the whistle you would have thought they had won the Championship on their celebrations

To GaeltheGael - You mentioned Rhyss Quinn from Clonoe. If it's the same player I'm thinking of are you having a laugh?? I'm nearly sure he didn't play either Omagh game or v Carrickmore. Against Coalisland he looked seriously out of his depth and like a headless chicken, constantly fouling

Just a prediction could be wrong, Not too many finals are won easily but I remember in 2007 Coalisland being beat by 10 points by dromore.

Its all well and good coming up with suggestions on how to fix the total disastrous fixture schedule and the joke that is reserve football, there has been some good ideas too, but the people with the power to change this will not take one blind bit of notice to any of it! Thats the problem! an unwillingness from the county board to do anything other than suit themselves.

I know this has been mentioned before a while back but some questions need to be asked of the county board regarding reserve football. I just looked over the fixtures on tyronegaa.com.Div 1 reserves havent played since the end of august and before that only had a handful of fixtures due to holidays etc and out of the last 20 games played 10 were conceded. No reserve championship played yet. There has to be some major changes made if they want the reserve leagues to survive. Im only talking about div1 here too, god knows what shape the intermediate and junior leagues are in.

I said it a few pages back, it is time to simply scrap reserve football in Tyrone and forget about it. Just play a senior league, D1, D2 and D3. Nobody cares about it at a board level, and players at nearly all clubs lose interest after a while.  A lot of clubs seem to struggle to field a reserve team with a lot of games forfeited as the season goes in all divisions even D1.  Reserve football is dead in Tyrone.  Time to bury it.

What happens to the clubs that have enough players to field every week?? do they just join Division 3 of the ACL?  Scrapping it would be harsh, they could try changing it slightly. They should play ALL reserve games during the week or on a friday for a start. Thats a total no brainer!

After watching the two semi finals over the weekend i have come to the conclusion that the standard of club football in tyrone as dropped.  Although it may be competitive and quite a number of teams have a realistic change of winning from the start, i do think skill levels have went down.  The reasoning for this has to be put surely to blame on defensive systems that teams put in place where stopping the other team from playing is nearly is as important as scoring yourself. Just my opinion.

Agree with this 100%

Whats is peoples views on players taking legal cases against other players on things that happen on the GAA field?  On my early morning delivery run i heard a story about ongoing case about a current player from my own club and player from a club not a million miles away with the player from my club being charged with GBH. I don't know if the story is true hence why i don't want mention names or the opposing club.

My views would that in most cases what happens on the field stays there but in cases where it can't be i think it can be dealt with without going legal.
What are your suggestions here?

I am saying things can be sorted man to man, club to club without trying to get some man a criminal record for something that happened on a football field. If it comes down to some cub looking money then sort it out but a criminal record can cost people their jobs and lively hoods.

Dont act like a tr**p on the field and you wont have to worry about getting a court case brought against you!

You obviously never played much football!

I played a fair bit, but whats that got to do with it? things sometimes get out of hand and a few punches are threw etc that all can be sorted out there and then on the field by the referee or the teams themselves. But there are some boys out there that think they can get away with anything because its on a football field. If you done it on a saturday night you would get lifted and end up in court so why not the same if you do it on a football field?

Cant blame the lad for wanting to go, Jst because he's a top Gaa player doesnt mean he shud be tied down to stay wile lots off other boys head abroad to Oz/NZ/USA etc
He'd prob be lyin up on a beach in Oz if it wasnt for his Gaa committments anyway so fair play to him for havin a 3 month holiday! And no doubt he's got a wee fone call with a tempting promise of a wee brown envelope with id say well over 10k in it anyway!!

over 10k?? I seriously doubt that.  I think that  these sums of money that players are supposed to be getting for going to the states are getting blown out of proportion! Flights a job and maybe a couple of thousand dollars when they get there. maybe someone like Canavan back in the day would be getting that kind of cash.

The sad thing is OSE 14 was that the Omagh physio was actually going on to provide assistance to an injured Ardboe player when she was attacked
