i also didnt like the booing of the minor lad who kicked mayos last free kick, no call for it in our game. however im not gonna be negative about yrone cos their performance yest was fantastic.

much better organised, far better game plan and they stuck to it and it came off for them in the end.  great game to be at. riddled with mistakes but for the neutral that made it all the more exciting. tyrone showed far more hunger and i think on the day thats what it came down to. great team, well done!

General discussion / Re: Is the North is a strange place?

QuoteI had an illuminating discussion one night with a couple of mates who you would loosely describe as Republicans and the overwhelming tone of the conversation was how much dislike they actually had for the Republic.

A large proportion of NI republicans are less nationalist than the typical Fine Gael voter.
QuoteAs a republican I certainly wouldn't vote for the Mickey Mouse (or should that be Bob the Builder?) state that passes for a 'republic' in the Free State.

And then you wonder why people in the 26 counties are not that warm towards people from the North? No doubt a UI will be more than just the 26 counties being extended northwards but it will inevitably more resemble the part of the country that has actual managed to run itself than the bit that hasn't.

republican is a word that has been misused in recent years and i agree with armaghniac. i also feel that sinn fein have monopolised the phrase as well. anyone now who claims to be a republican but does not agree with sinn feins policies is immediately looked down upon.

Lads I personally wouldn't have a problem with someone selling premium level tickets forw a few quid extra....
As someone has already stated you are paying for the whole package, not simply 2 tickets!!!

it makes me sick to be honest.  anybody selling on ebay is bound to personally know someone who would be very interested in going. if it was a friend of mine or family member and they had them on ebay before offering me the tickets i wudnt be very happy.

the whole "umpires" issue really is gettin out ofhand, it needs sorted by the start of next years season. its a disgrace that a man standin beside a post of behind a goal cant see which side of the post it went. it has and will continue to lose teams games and trophies. its really startin to get out of hand.

canavan at the min but in a few years probably the gooch. he has more overall to offer than canavan. hes like a brian mcguigan and canavan rolled into one. his playmaking ability is as good as his scoring threat! we seen this through the c'ship and also in the club c'ship.

as i say i could be wrong i just think people are gettin fed up with the cross final. not an amagh person myself but been to last few county finals and big crowds there but not massive. would imagine probably around 5 or 6000. most other counties would get bigger crowds due to new and different teams bein in finals and most likely it will be close. not so in armagh! no disrespect to cross. worthy champions!

Would I be throwing the spanner in the works by thinking that Kerry were not the best football team this year?

Fair enough they won the All-Ireland but lets face it they had easy run to the final cept one game verus Monaghan.  I know a team can only beat what is put in front of them but if Kerry played in Ulster there is no chance they would have come out of it.

Monaghan for me was the best team this year...if they had of played longer than 20 minutes verus Tyrone they would have been ulster champions...and with a bit of belief they would have beat Kerry!!!

i think kerry were also always going to beat monaghan. i know monaghan had them on the ropes but kerry did what brilliant teams can afford to do - they didnt panic. they stuck to their plan and knew in the end it should work. armagh were also v good at this namely against tyrone in drawn ulster final. 4 points down with time more or less up. but i think kerry win these matches on the talent they have on the bench. no doubt everybody said the same thing when MF Russell came on "jesus its unreal that they can have a man like that on the bench" and its true. their depth of talent for me make them the best in the country and the team to beat.

i said dublin myself, but not by too much mind you. and they have a long way to get near kerrys standards at the minute IMO. which says alot for the rest of the country!

I love hearing stories like that, I think it highlights what is great about gaelic games.

im the same myself great to hear those wee things.

as for mr mcgeeney must wish him all the best im sure he'll be back round the county set up in the near future to lend a hand where he can. a fantastic footballer who played to his strengths, knew his limitation and worked on all aspects of his game to the limit. i think everybody can learn a bit from him and i have to admire his passion for the game and his passion for winning. its just a pity he didnt get sam once more. like canavan i think he deserved another and would have been a nice way to end his career. all the best to him anyway.
