Ive never been up at the car-boot sale, is it a club run initative to fundraise or just an act of goodwill to help the parish?

When was that announced? I was over at the pitch last night and at 7.30 our match V Kilclief was still on according to our secretary and registrar. Next weeks match against portaferry II's is due to get postponed due to Ballela Cemetery Mass. I was hoping that we could get a few more matches played at this time of the year as once holidays begin and with Championship around the corner the league peters out.

Antrim / Re: ANTRIM HURLING

I may have heard him wrong but i thought i heard Austin O'Callaghan sayin that that 'Antrim ran out comfortable 9 point winners'!? Shocking that after he closest final in a few years where antrim just pulled away by 3 points in the end that the BBC dont even relay the proper info. The re-run show is tommorrow night, due to today being a bank holiday.

The senior match was atrocious, probably the worst standard of a match i've witnessed between down/derry/antrim. The game was littered by poor lifting, ground striking and on too many occasions players were taking the ball on their stick instead of in the hand and then getting dispossed. Nearly all six goals came from errors from the opposition instead of good play, which says alot! Convery scored 1.9, pointed a penalty for derry, Magic scored 2goals as did eoin clarke, think paddy coulter got the other as well as a few points. Down must improve alot for next week, in the first half they missed about five scoreable dead ball chances. Had derry not conceded those first two soft goals they had the game there for the taking.(Micky Conway should have been sent off in the first half after playing poorly, lifted Eoin Clarke who has on the ground into the air by his helmet before dumping him.)

Hard luck to the down minors who made a great comeback from being roughly 12 points down at one stage to nearly snatching a draw. Darren Hamill scored about 1.6 for antrim, think hippy donnelly got the other, Padraig flynn did an admirable job on him when switched after antrims early onslaught. Downs goals came from james coyle, aidan clarke and a conor woods penalty, paul keith hit two or three good points from play. Must commend Desy Mc Nally the antrim keeper who pulled off a brilliant save from nearly the last puck of the ball to prevent a replay.

Down: Graham Clarke, L Clarke, S Murray, F Conway, G Clarke, A Dynes, M Ennis, B McGourty, A Savage, E Trainor, C Courtney, J Trainor, E Clarke, G Johnston, P Coulter.

Jerome Trainor, Ciaran Courtney and Paddy Coulter after drafted into the attack with Andy Bell, Gary Savage and Ciaran Coulter losing out.  Acording to the BBC.

I'l be going down tommorrow and I feel the minors have a real chance, they won the U-16 milk games at this age level and in mal magee and Conor Woods they'l have two of the best players on the pitch. Ive played in two minor championships in recent years and i feel this team has scoring forwards something which the teams in the last few years have been missing. Antrim always seem to score two goals in the first ten minutes at this level ending the contest, prevent that and we'l have a game!

A farce of a feis hurling 7's competition took place in dundrum council pitches last night. The matches were refixed for last night after two referees turned up kitted out on sunday night with no teams contacted! Last night Ballela, Kilclief and Liatroim turned up out of the senior teams with Ballela beating kilclief roughly 5.5 to 2.4, we now play liatriom in the final. In the junior section only hilltown and castlewellan turned up so both teams went home again and will play in the final.

Mark has two cracked ribs in his back and a cracked bone in his elbow. He said it was the narrow side of the bottom of the stick not the butt as i first thought, certainly nothing like a Brian O'Meara v Liam Dunne type tussle. Im sure he'l miss a few matches and a week or so off work.

It was Mark Cosgrave he's 20, but could pass for 16 tho! About 5'7 and prob under 10st.  I hadnt heard it was broke, i'l hear more tonight at training. He played on for the duration of the match but he told me after the match he was in some pain. He's a real hardy soul and i think opposition this he's an easy target due to his stature. He said he and the full back were running out following the puckout and the ballygalget fullback drew into him, i think with the butt of the stick. I'd asked him did he do anything to provoke it and he said there was nothing!

Aye we were saying last nite that the lad who was doing umpire scores more for us when he's off the pitch than when he's on it! :D The turnouts have improved a bit over the last few weeks, although Mal seniors depearture hasnt had a bearing on it, just been the case of a fews more lads showing a bit of commitment. Was that a full strength galgets 2nd team? What team are spike and paudi mc manus playing for this year?

Ballela 1.5 Ballygalget 1.12

Broke even around the middle but ballygalget have more than 1 scoring forward which made the difference. We hit about 12 wides to their 2, possibly 3!

I see in the programme the UMFC match between Down and Monaghan is listed for next sunday in Crossmaglen, due to leaving cert commitments. Is this match likely to be refixed to preceed the replay on sunday? I'd imagine this would be the most logical decision and would make for another good double header!
