I dont understand this interest in buying young keepers just to farm them out. We've got Carson who is a good keeper, we had Kirtland. We need one good solid keeper(Reina) and one other who would be happy playing second fiddle. Not a young kid who is going to want to be playing as many games as possible. And someone with more talent than Dudek!!
Like BCB i'm not going to go too over the top on last nite's result. We need to start plugging away in the League and try and get a bit of confidence back before we meet some of the bigger teams. And as for anything in the Champions League past this stage, that would be a bonus.

GAA Discussion / Re: Medical Standards at club games.

I well remember having my shoulder dislocated in a match & having to drive myself to hospital - that was a load of fun.

Well i've dislocated my shoulder a few times myself and if my club couldn't spare someone to drive me to casualty after the accident then i'd be having serious issues with the club. It doesn't require a trained doctor to drive you to casualty. I agree there should be someone there with at least basic first aid training in order to deal with any immediate action. However like Wobbler said, a doctor would be able to do little more than a first aider anyway without having the person in care and having access to all the proper equipment.
Playwiththewind if i was you i'd be asking some serious questions of people within your club who felt it was ok to allow you to drive with a dislocated shoulder.

GAA Discussion / Re: Croke to get a roof

I've been on the Hill for all Dublin's games in Croke Park against nordie teams in the last 10 years and I can't recall that one been sung in big numbers on the Hill - which is surprising given its quite tame. Maybe this year we can get it going specially for you.

I have heard fans from the North calling Dublin fans "fenian bastards", on numerous occassions - all of which I found very funny.

I've heard both sets of fans giving abuse. My stance on the Hill is that it creates a great atmosphere at a game that might not be achieved in an all-seated arena. But getting back to the point of the thread a roof is just too extravagant for the needs of the GAA. It would take funds away from other much needed areas.

I was kinda hoping that the step up to the Permiership at his age might be a step to far for Larsson. But he looked sharp and fit, more's the pity. If you compare his touch to that of Saha's, it's no wonder he links play up so well. He looks to be a good bit of business, and may be the difference in getting the league again. But what's the story in March? Can there still be a deal done then to get him to stay on til the end of the season or is it tied by the Tranfer window thingy?
Other points, thought Carrick was poor enough again. Doesn't offer enough of a threat for me for 17 M.
However as much as it pains me to say as a Liverpool man, if you were offering me one player in the Premiership perhaps even the world now, i'd prob take Ronaldo!! I think he has been fantastic. And i reckon he'll get better!!

Terrible performance. Never really looked like causing a threat. Thought Garcia, Crouch, Pennant were all crap!! I would clear these out for a start. As i said before if Newcastle were stupid enough to offer 12 M for Crouch them liverpool should bite their hand of. When he plays for liverpool we become one dimensional like Dinny says!! Lofting a long ball in to a big target man!!
Kuyt to me still looks like he'll be a great signing!! Works his ass of and has great control on the ground.
Ref the Alonso booking. If def wasn't a booking as there was contact but whether or not it was a penalty i'm not sure. Ref should have just played on as i felt the card was harsh.
Henry did feck all for so long and then makes just one chance and puts it away!! He'll be back to his best in no time unfortunately!!

Dont get me wrong KKcat. I think a roof would prob help the stadium. It's more a case of priorities. And a roof on croke park would not be near the top of my wish list!!

It seems the GAA are more interested in having a spectular center piece to impress everyone than actually putting the money into promoting the games. This money would be better spent either up-grading other pitches or invested into promoting the games in areas of need. Putting a roof on Croke Park would not be very high up on the list of priorities i would have thought, unless of course there are other none GAA factors.

Tyrone / Re: Tyrone Club Football and Hurling

Heard also that McElholm was taking winter training for Drumragh so he may be intending to go there in the new season.

There's been no decision made in Drumragh yet about management for the New year.

To be honest i'm very surprised that mickey's doing this. And your right Bummer it's a bit tough on the players involved! Surely they would prob get more minutes on the pitch playing for the uni's than in the Tyrone panel were there will be even more rotation!!

Have to say i'm not for what Mickey is doing either. If there's a rule that players should put perference in their uni's rather than the counties then it shouldn't be bent or twisted for anyone. If all managers were doing the same it would leave the competition dead for the Uni's.
And sure Mickey can still get a good look at the three players if he wants. And what better way of assessing whether they are good enough for county standard than to play against all the county teams.
I've great respect for Mickey and his views most of the time, but i think he's wrong here.

That's the problem, for such a big fella he's always going to get plenty of chances with his head. Unfortunately he hasn't a clue how to head the ball!! If you ask me he's better with the ball to feet than he is in the air!! The misses against Blackburn were terrible!! It would be like Newcastle to offer £12 million for him alright!! And if they did i'd bite their hand of for it!!
Newcastle is a graveyard for decent players!!

Great performance in the second half by Liverpool. They played some of the best attacking football i've seen from them in a while. An to do it against Bolton who are so hard to break down normally is quite a result. Kuyt is proving to be a very important buy for us!! Works very hard and is very unselfish with his distrubution.
Pennant finally put in a good game, but he needs to start doing this week in week out to justify him staying!! Too unreliable at the minute.
The defence is beginning to find form again as well. Carragher is getting back to his best and even Hypia, who i had my doubts about at the start of the year, is playing well.
Just a real pity we mucked thing up so badly at the start of the year as both Cheski and United have dropped points in the last wee while!!
