I think your comments had a racist slant to them Xenophobic at least. Others obviously agreed.

My views on Micko have been aired a fair few times on various incarnations of this board, so I won't bore ye with another missal. To sum up I believe

1. Micko introduced the early variety of 'puke football' to Kerry. (Witness Pat Spillane and Ogie Moran sweeping up in the half back line).
2. Micko introduced a diving culture to Kildare and Laois. Two proud counties that would not naturally go down suddenly developed amazingly slippy feet when within sight of the posts.
3. Micko is a very good tactical coach, but a cynical auld fecker who plays the media like a cheap guitar.

Also, apart from the cynicism and 'cute hoorism', I think an important factor Micko brings is simply the 'Micko factor'. In early days with teams he inspires them simply based on 'Micko says we are great, and sure he knows'. That tends to wear off though. To be honest, I think he did pretty well at Kildare, but I think he underachieved at Laois. If a local manager had only managed 1 Leinster title from that Laois production line, they'd be getting a bit of criticism, or at least a bit of 'Sure why wouldn't they win one?'. I would expect Wicklow to become competitive for a season or two, and then fade away. Micko would jump ship before it became obvious, thus preserving the legend and ensuring another offer will come his way.

I must admit I didn't see the bit about 'Foreigners' playing in Croker. I was suckered by the GAA presidents horse manure.

Obviously, I would totally reject a statement like that as well.

Shite. I just realised I wandered into another of these multiple personality wind ups. This is getting tiring. Should we start banning IP addresses?

That is an awful slanderous thing to say about past GAA presidents with absolutely no proof. To say all ex-GAA presidents are rich is a joke to begin with, and to suggest that they are taking back handers is disgraceful, unless you have proof of this.

To your main point, to be honest, I'm sick of the spending that is going on in provincial grounds, unless they get proper use. Limerick is a huge white elephant sitting on the Ennis Road, I don't think it's ever been full since it was done up. I'm all for having nice facilities, but I'd prefer a 20,000 capacity, with nice stand, toilets and facilities rather than a 45,000 monolith which never gets fully utilised.

I think that's correct Harp, re the 10 times rule. But i think there is no limit about picking your weekly squad other than that. You may, if you wish select a new squad each week, and make sure that every one is playing that week. (Assuming you adhere to picking Tiger, for example, a maximum of 10 times per season.

You actually can change your A player , B players and C players for every round. So in effect you are picking a panel of 8 for the week, but a fourball that will gather you points every day.

Example

i pick Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson for the week from pool A. They are my 'A' players for the week. On Thursday I give Tiger the start, but he shoots a 76. I can then bring Mickelson on as a sub for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Or if Tiger goes back to form with a  66 on Friday, I can swap him back in for Saturday etc. etc.

Have a look at the rules link on the top right coner of the page, because some of the scoring is quite funny. Each round is actually a seperate game. In my above example, if Tigers 76 leaves him more than 10 shots behind the leader, I get 0 points for that round. The round of the day EACH DAY gets 20 points. A shot behind the round of the day (NOT NECESSARILY THE TOURNAMENT LEADER) gives 18 points, 2 shots 16 points etc.

To be even more detailed about it consider this example.

Thursday (Best Round of the Day 64)
PlayerScorePoints
Jay Haas64(Round of the Day)20
Ernie Els6616(2 behind Round of the day)
Tiger Woods750 (More than 10 behind)

Friday (Best Round of the Day 65)
PlayerScorePoints
Jay Haas800 (More than 10 behind Round of the Day)
Ernie Els718(6 behind Round of the day)
Tiger Woods6618 (1 behind)

Saturday (Best Round of the Day 64)
PlayerScorePoints
Jay Haas752 (9 behind Round of the Day)
Ernie Els780(more than 10 behind Round of the day)
Tiger Woods6616 (2 behind)

So coming into Sunday Jay Haas woud have 22 points, but be on +3 for the tourney (if we assume par 72)
Ernie would have 24 points and be on -1 for the Tournament while
Tiger would have 34 points and -9, despite never having the best round.

Lynchbhoy, in fairness you are the one who said that Souness had an anti Irish agenda. It's up to you to prove the allegation true, especially considering that the facts and stats obviously imply otherwise.

In fairness I think you might be getting your clubs mixed up. I remember a 'Souness is anti-Irish' storm at Blackburn a few years ago. I think he basically sold or dropped 3 or 4 paddies (McAteer, Kenna, Duff, etc) but that was fairly much refuted along similar lines.

I remember Souness as a fella who came in and tried to impose a certain culture on LFC, and failed miserably because he tried to do it all in one fell swoop. A phased approach with an aging team might have been better. He also brought in players who were patently not LFC type players. That was his failing at LFC. I don't recall any anti-Irish bias there whatsoever.

QuoteWe felt that he didn't come up to inter-county standard and that was after watching him a number of times
Jaysus, talk about a hostage to fortune. If Dolan does join the family circle in Westmeath (Dessie Snr as trainer next year??), then I'd back him to score a hatful if they come across Roscommon in the qualifiers or somewhere.

His performance against Offaly in Mullingar, alluded to above, was top drawer. A properly motivated Frankie would be a benefit to most county teams. I think the Tan Man has given him all the motivation he needs :D

Laois, you select new golfers every week. You don't stick with them all year. Get rid of your NA ones!!

F*cks sake, they were awful. Why would anyone buy them? And every time I see that flecky abomination I think of Glen Hysen!!

What's the story with the Dub stars? I see it's got 'foreigners' who presumably play in the Dublin county championship, but does it also include county hopefuls? And why are Griffin and Goggins on that team?

Also, I didn't know Shane Ryan was old enough to have a son on the Dublin panel :D

I was thinking that alright, hence the smiley, although in fairness the smileys on the new board look a bit like a puzzled face. Must use the grin :D
