I was driving up to Dublin this morning, careful on the M7 lads!, and Ger Gilroy gave the Ulster fans an awful doing on Newstalk's morning show at about 7 am. He basically said they were the worst supporters for abuse he'd ever sat in with.

Now, having said that he *is* a Leinster nancy boy ( ;D Dinny), but even so ....

GAA Discussion / Football Coaching Materials
January 22, 2007, 05:03:30 PM
Hi all,

I'm looking for some new and interesting drills, both physical/aerobic conditioning, as well as ballwork, for an adult football team that have been together for a good few years and are in danger of going a bit stale.

Something new and interesting in terms of drills will help keep them interested, and will hopefully get them through the drudgery without them realising it.

Any ideas or internet resources would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I'm going to have to say that Offaly will get promoted from Division 2, probably in second place to Roscommon, who have all their tough games at home.

Who does Brennan write his Diary for? Could be an interesting column this week :D

If that's all that was said, the Trevor Brennan is psychotic. I have my doubts.

Sometimes it has to do with the background. A plain background makes it easier to pick up the posts in an instant look. Goals with 'Loud' colours or no background at all are sometimes harder to locate. Of course a good forward will be more or less instinctive anyway, but the scoring goals tend to be the ones where half backs and midfielders score their points more often.

I'd love to know what was said by the fan.

GAA Discussion / Re: GAA Hard men (all counties)

Based on lads I've seen in the flesh, I'd say that Offaly's two hardest men were probably Sean 'Clocker' Grennan in football, or else perhaps Richie Connor, while the 80's vintage of hurlers had a few lads who weren't behind the door when the physical stuff went on. Probably Padraig Horan as the one with the most bloody tendencies, as befits a good Rynagh's man :)

You know, if some mouthpieces in the media didn't continually bleat on about what they are 'entitled' to, and what the GAA should and shouldn't do, I honestly feel they'd have more traction within the GAA for what they want. As I've said before, most GAA members are at least supporters, if not members, of other sporting organisations. It's natural to co-operate across such a wide common support/membership.

But my back, and I count myself liberal, gets up every time Cathal Dervan or Floppy Deleany or their ilk start trying to apply meeja pressure to the GAA.

I think that is the case exactly Hound. I see Liverpool playing 3-5-2 next season. At the moment the team would be along the lines of Reina, Finnan, Carra, Agger, Pennant, Sissoko, Alonso, Gerrard, Riise, Kuyt, Bellamy.

I wouldn't mind that to be honest.
#24344
Well Sissoko, Alonso and Gerrard are going to be battling for 2 positions as it is. Another one will add to the confusion there. And then Stevie G can do a big sulk if he's on the right to accomodate Mascherano.

No need to say Steven Gerrard is not a central midfielder. We've heard it before.
