Came across him a few times in Belfast around the bars, certainly there is mixed reviews about him, but never the less a sporting genius.

A friend asked him once while playing , 'Are you watching the UK/World chamionship' (not to sure which, not a big snooker fan)

Anyway from what the boys told me he had win it a few times.

He replied by saying he could'nt afford 'Sky Sports'
Actualy crazy to think this guy had won the competition and couldnt afford now to watch it on his TV

Sure this wasnt a case of "Ask a stupid question get a stupid answer"..??

Sky never have shown the major tournaments..

Not exactly the 'Lory Meagher Cup'

Benny was named at No.13 but lined out at wing half forward, was interesting to see how he worked down the line, was he moved into the corner in the second half? Cudnt really see, was quite low in the cusack.

But as J OGorman says, two different types of player, I wouldnt see marty as much as a goal threat (as benny) but he covers alot of ground and playmaking and point taking are certainly very good. But ya wouldnt let Benny sniff the inside of the line against ya or he would take ya for dust by the looks of it, bit like linden in that sense.

Paul Mc Comiskey was excellent, good to see him back to his best after a bad injury a few years back i remember at QUB

There gonna have a very tough time keeping any of those teams fans remaing in the competition to not enter the pitch on all-ireland final day.

What if Dublin win? There would need to be some plan set up for the Hill etc

QuoteWell as a Derry man and I cant speak for all of us, but I have always supported the Ulster teams, was at the match on Sunday and cheered for Down, and actually backed Tyrone but with slighlty less enthusiasm and would always support Antrim in the Hurling in Leinster etc Seeing Armagh lift Sam in 2002 was something I had huge respect for, very very deserved, and there was huge support that day from Armagh for Derry minors.

any wonder they give you abuse, seeing as there wasn't even a northern team playing on sunday  ;)

Good spot  ;D, its a bank holiday here yesterday so slighty mixted up in the ole days  :D , but the absue was directed at the players. But still you cant tar all wth one brush, most Dub's are 100%

Interesting thread. No surprise that Ulster is out in front in the poll, due undoubtedly to the history aspect.
And the fact that the majority of posters on this board are from Ulster?

What is the story with that? Do they use other forums or they to busy watching the rugby?

So Oakleaf whats you rclubs excuse for not winning the championship. We played Errigal before the Ulster championship started and your trying to say that Dromores failure was due to not having their county men at training, so how did Dromore win it last year. Away and show some respect to our Club. Cassidys better rid of you lot.

Dublin Abu!  :D :D

I never ever got this "cheering for your own province" carry on.

You never hear Kerry or Cork fans shouting for each other.... same goes for Meath and the Dubs...it seems to be a peculiarly Ulster tradition....one which I won't be participating in.....

Most Connacht do it too.

Well from working with leinster lads, (Dubs), from what I hear they support any leinster team over another provinces team apart from Meath

That a player or ball can "dissect the posts"
If Diana Ross was able to do it at USA 94 then I think the Gooch definitely can! No bother.
PS. Anthony Tohill had a trial with Man Utd and played in their Reserve Team. . . FACT!!!
it was shwn on the telly - or highlights of it were.
he looked completely out of touch as he wasnt as nippy as the wee soccer players playing against him (he was centre half and wearing the green and yellow away jersey if I rem correctly).
Looked more like Geoffrey mcgonigle such was his 'agility' by comparison to the wee soccer lads!

He also played nets for Derry city the odd time back in the day

That any player ever

"got turned inside out"

or

"could turn on a six-pence"

He got took to the cleaners (maybe only a derry phrase)
