Didn't see the first Carberry/Meade at 2.10. 16-1, led from start but weakened about 4 out. Looked a good e/w til that. Finished 5th from 18
2.40. Another 5th at 6-1. 13 ran

Oneill asked about the corner forwards... Were you not watching Cork's march to the McGrath cup/ Munster double last year? Masters likes to be handed the ball. Neither having the physique or the speed to win his own ball. When he gets it, if he is given an inch on his left he can swing it over from the right hand corner flag. Can not kick with the right. Entrusted with the free taking, he can have good days but 45s are outside his range.

Kevin O'Sullivan has been knocking on the door for a while now racking up scores for his club and the Cork juniors. He's big enough but seems to struggle at this level.

Yes, but I was wondering how the rebels themselves saw Masters. He did seem to be a man on form for the majority of last year, esp against Kerry, until it came to the crunch. Is it true he was courted by the American footbal?

Meade horses tomorrow -

Rock House  - she's running at Fairyhouse 2.10. I'd stay away. Fell last time out. Never won in 8 attempts with a second and 3 thirds. Probably it's biggest price yet though with some quoting 66-1.

2.40  Island Life - seven runs and placed 5 times with 2 wins although 3rd last time out when odds-on. Prob 4-1. Prob Carberry. Prob win.
3.45 Saddlers Brook. Very interested. Ran once, finished 3rd of 12. The lady Carberry on her. Prob 8-1.
4.20 Riccardo. Madden riding. One win from 6 and that was the debut at 9/4. Usually Carberry. Madden rode once before finishing 5th from 27. Adventurous around 33-1.

There is the possibilty that the final against a team like Chelsea is a step too far for the youngsters. I have actually bet on Chelsea on winning by 4 or more goals (and Arsenal winning on penalties to keep it interesting).

In terms of hype, the 6-3 win at Anfield against a team that possessed Dudek, Aurelio, Hyypia, Gerrard, Gonzalez, Luis Garcia, Carragher, Alonso, Bellamy and Fowler was some achievement no matter what happens on Sunday.

A myth, you must be joking. Arsenal's 'average' is pumped up by Almunia and Gilberto. To average 23.5 is incredible.

In the Carling Cup, Arsenal have fielded Denilson (19), Walcott (17), Traore (17), Diaby (20), Djourou (19), Fabregas (19), Connolly (19), Randall (17), and throw in Clichy, Hoyte, Senderos and you've one hell of a young team.

Besides, the serious lack of experienced players Arsene has used has been phenomenal. In all 5 games he has played Jeremie Aliadiere, Manuel Almunia, Denilson, Armand Traore & Theo Walcott - they're our carling Cup foundation!

Intriguing match-up this Sunday. It looks like Wenger is sticking with his experiment. The Carling side has shown much more passion than the first team in recent weeks so I'm looking forward to this. Sort of a no-lose situation.

Maybe if we close our eyes and pretend they're singing about Freddie Mercury's group, it'll be easier to digest.
