What do you boyos watch anyway. This is an average Down team and have gotten to this stage by beating absolutely no one, Longford followed by offaly and then Sligo who were just begging to die. As Donegal, Armagh, Antrim or even Derry had of gotten that draw they would be in this position also. Down have had great fortune with the draw. Lick won't win this game. Kerry are the team with the luck on this occassion

Londonerry got a handy draw also, Kildare are nothing special and they tanked Londonderry.
Id say we will do a lot better than Londonderry, and im sure we are a lot better team than Londonderry.
Should you not be on a forum about the terrible state of football in the strokers county.and leave the championship talk to the 8 best teams in the country. ;D ;D ;D

Yerra, Kerry have already asked Armagh how to beat Down in Croke Park

After all Armaghs win in the Division 2 final really built them up for a tilt at the Championship.
Come on home paddy your work is done.
Its that long since yee were in it sure the Club championship must be nearly over in Armagh. He He He  ;D ;D ;D

Sorry lads but maybe sligo are no where near as good as you thought.
We believed the media hype about, and were unsure what to expect,  but we didnt have much of an issue on the pitch.
How another craic at getting into an All Ireland QF can be classified as meaningless is beyond me.

Another myth about to come to an end
"Down always beat Kerry in Championshp"
Good to see the armagh bitterness at full strength again.
My God you guys have a severe inferiority complex with down.
Get over it yes we have 5 times the All Ireland titles you have
we dont expect to beat Kerry ;D ;D ;D ;D

Cork damn lucky to get roscommon - rossies could sneak this too is cork dont wake up !

Id love to know what Down man would ever be so stupid to claim that.
We have a proud record against them which will go next weekend.
Thats a bullsh1t statement.

We are playing Kerry next weekend , who GAF if the club games go ahead.
Its gonna be a long week worrying about playing the kingdom. Down could get tanked here

im gonna have many sleepless nights this week. Our defence is brutal, if anyone runs at Bgi Dan he wont stop them.
Marty Clarke froze against tyrone.
Im thinking Kerry could do to us what we did to Sligo. I will need a couple of pints before this one.
nothing to lose though as no one will give us a chance. go out and play football.
Kerry wont be worrying about their route to an All Ireland final. Meath or Kildare after us.

Down, Dublin, Kildare, Roscommon and Meath are just there to make up the numbers 1 may be luck to get to a Semi but thats about it.
As a Down man our best chance of a semi is Meath or Roscommon but i think we are better than what we showed in the Ulster semi. But dont fancy being strangled again so soon.

i understand it cant be easy to get beat in a provincial and then play again 6 days later. But surely now what nearly 10 years into the qualifiers teams and their management should have already planned for the prospect of defeat in a provincial.
The days have no ref to it, Kildare have played 5 weeks in a row Down 3.
I would say if Tyrone or Kerry, Cork etc had lost a provincial final last weekend they would not have put in the terrible performances shown by Sligo, Monaghan or Louth yesterday.
Counties need to prepare better.
My previous post may have been a bit harsh but Give Down credit if they are let play like that they have the Forwards to inflict maximum damage only for sligo keeper id say at least another 2 goals would have been scored.
Down will need to up their game for whoever we draw this evening.
Hard luck Sligo.

Just back, i didnt expect Sligo to win, but i didnt expect us to get hammered. The 6 day turnaround is huge reason, there was no effort today at all, it was back to the wexford game. Down will go crazy with hype now but ye beat nothing, absolutely nothing. This was a pale shadow of the Sligo team that beat Galway and Mayo. Ye cant judge Sligo on this, we showed nothing from the start to finish in atitude or workrate. In fact some of Down points were goal chances and they missed 2 in 1st half. After 10 mins Down sensed we werent up for it.

The only man to come out with any credit is Eammon O Hara, jees did he battle hard, even after a serious looking hand injury he battled on. Could be his last game for Sligo. A sadder day if thats the case.

I would of made a few changes for the game myself but Walsh went crazy, ok i was ok with Coen for McGee, Kennedy for Phillips and S Davey for Gilmartin, But he started McGuire CORNER BACK, I agree with Ross at FB, Harrison started CHB, then 15mins in again he changed 2 backs,it was like musical chairs, the defending was naive and atrocious but the bulk of our problem was coming from midfield, we got ate there, there 2 midfielders basically had a free role in the pocket and just turned and ran at us, the  wing forwards roasted our wing backs aswell. When we got the ball we looked clueless, S Davey couldnt pass the ball 15 yrds with marren showing, he'd somehow kick it the backs advantage everytime, i remember costello looking up and kelly in loads of space and he'd garyowen it, the wrong option was taken every time, it was a nightmare from start to finsh. I dont care what anyone says the bulk of the Sligo players only gave 50% effort today, everything was half hearted.

You can exclude Kennedy, mcgovern out of the above as they did there best and were thrown in at the deep end, Keelan Calwey whilst had a very bad day today and had better 1st yrs than EOH and Kelly but he needs to work alot harder, McGee was inconsistent but needs a few yrs conditioning. Donovan i thought was the only defender to turn up today, but hes had better days. I wish Johnny Davey a speedy recovery, with what looked a serious injury.

I want to thank McGuire, Sean Davey for all there effort over the yrs but its time to hang up the boots, i hope O Hara sticks around, but doubt he will, he will go mental in that dressing room tonight, no doubt.

I said off the board if we lose to Roscommon it will put us back yrs, and i said if we win it would put us forward yrs, i think im right, it has put us back yrs, undone whatever positive work KW has done. If KW has any sense it will resign for the benefit of himself and us. Hes brought as far as he can and he should sense a sharp decline now. Looking back he done a decent job but loads of mistakes, and is still learning, i think he will be a top class manger some day but he is well overhyped at present especially by Galway folk who really want him to be good but hes not as good as ye think.

This has compounded the disaster of last week and multiplied by 10.There was close to 10,000 at todays game and  i reckon 7,000 from Sligo, huge crowd imo, great roars and lots of chanting, and i was proud of the fans today, we really tryed to get them going but nothing would.

We need Brendan Egan back next yr, I need to see Quinn at CHB in championship, we need to blood Conor Davey at FB in the league. The best thing about Div2 is will seperate the men from the boys early on rather than imploding in championship. Im angry, im annoyed, im embarrased, im depressed, and im pissed off. 3-20 to 0-10, still cant fcking believe it. Where did it all go wrong? Disaster.

Down wont go crazy just because we beat an over rated Sligo team.Even at your best we would still have beat ye. No need for your sour grapes

We lost by 1 point because Roscommon are a poor team relying on Shines frees. If we weren't so ill disciplined we would have won the game as Ross didn't have enough good forwards to score. Our tactics were non-existant while O'Donnell had Ross playing the a well thought out plan.

back in 1991 we played meath in a ALL Ireland Semi final losing by one point in a game we should have won that day we scored 1-11 Derek Duggan Scored 1-8 (8 free's )

That was some goal he scored. what happened to him afterwards?
91 wouldnt have mattered, no one would have beaten Down that day.
as wee pete said that night
we are the team that beat the team that couldnt be beaten

You remind me of my dad, i remember he turned around to a celebrating meath fan & said "Down will beat ye" (he's a donegal man BTW) & TBH Down were lucky Colm O'Rourke was only half fit for the All Ireland final

Your right about Colm O Rourke. but Down built up a massive lead that Day. And as they did in nearly every game that year they had a twenty minute spell were they just about did enough to get over the line.
Was one of the best moments of my life, hill 16 was ablaze of red and black, took some hours to get home, stopped in every town and village on the way, we were congratulated by meath fans in Drogheda fair play to them.
We gave the rest of Ulster the belief that they could do it.

Media totally writing down off for this one.
Sligo are certs.
Hopefully the Down bus driver doesnt end up in Clones.

congrats Roscommon, no one gave you a chance, the press didnt even have the decency to mention your chances.
You were shown no respect whatsoever by the media, it was all Sligo Sligo Sligo.
Well done and best of luck in the Quarter finals, unless we get by sligo and meet you that is.
Great to see such celebrations as im sure sligo would also have shown.

In his article today in the start today he had a right go at the Dubs. His Ulster bias is sickening to say the least he never has anything good to say about a team outside of Ulster.

I wouldnt say that, he has a pop at Down at any given oppurtunity. Granted we give him plaenty of choice
