Back in the day we (St michaels) used to dish out hammerings like this when there was 1 senior team and 1 junior team in the parish shows that all the turmoil in the area has really hurt the underage more than anything.
Befor this "turmoil"their was always 2 senior teams in the parish....Ballylinan & Arles
When the juvenile club St michaels was at its best mid 80s until early 90s arles were a junior team mostly maybe an intermediate team for a few years ,they were relegated from senior I would say 84/85 .
I'll agree to disagree with you on that one Gmac. I'd need to refresh my memory a bit. Arles were very strong during the 70s and early 80s at senior level if my memory serves me well. And when the row started they were a senior club.
Don't want to bore the other users but the last championship game Arles as we knew it was a loss in the intermediate semi final versus the rock in 1993.were junior b team 87-90 junior a 91 ,intermediate 91-93 .

Graigue made a huge mistake letting Joe Higgins move to Kileen..what were they thinking. I now hear their present manager is gone although it may only be a rumour... Kileshin also let their manager go last week.....

I don't think it's fair to say it was graigues mistake, Killeen probably looking that €€bit€€ more appealing as a football challenge to him.
I like the way you put that De vil....the dollars will overcome any challange and may he get as much as he can..and as long as he is happy to be associated with an ailing squad that will disintegrate overnight IMO
Why would he not want to manage the top challenger to portlaoise best move for him on what will be a long career in managing . Joseph's will be back lads don't be so bitter ye had it good for 30 years can we not have some success .

I wouldn't mind somebody getting paid if they had a good back room team including a good strength and conditioning coach , if the last manager was only getting expenses I'm sure his enthusiasm was easily picked up on by the players and the results followed.
In the last few years we have been beaten by Antrim louth Tipperary Longford so we are either dreaming about how good we are or we are league team and find it harder to compete in championship football. We need to generate some interest in the senior football team and I think a high profile manager can do it , go outside the country to the uk and USA and try get some sponsorship from laois people abroad see if there is any interest it can't hurt.
We either go all out to improve or forget about it I don't think there is any middle ground

The Irish support in LV is something else so Dana White is gonna milk this cash cow till the tit is dry.
Thousand of Irish from the cities in the states there as well as the ones who travelled from home.
On another note Irish fans need a new song or anthem other than the ole ole ole getting old that one.

Is McGregor struggling with the weight?  He looks very gaunt and drained over the last week
I thought the same he looked brutal , very thin in his face

I see Caitlyn is getting the Arthur Ashe award at the espys  for courage ,surely there is someone somewhere in sports who has overcome an illness or tragedy that deserves it more.
I think there are far more courageous athletes out there and espn should do some homework and find them, every move he/she has made has been calculated to maximise exposure and money making opportunities.

I think ciaran whelan summed it up perfectly on the sunday game that the laois players either had no desire or the energy to follow their men back or regroup when the ball is turned over ,it's a simple thing hat every team has to do in today's Gaelic football sprint back to set up the defensive structure when the ball is lost in attack

Good game ,Looked like a lot of the laois players were blowing hard all through the game , couldn't track their men back and tired passing in second half also Meredith did not look fit , think Kildare will be favourites the next day .
#2353
Kildare inside forwards getting very soft freed compared to Laois inside men .
#2354
Brutal performance by referee from a Laois perspective
#2355
If the gaa officials had a rule where they allowed the players to drop the gloves like they do in hockey how many of these mouth pieces would be interested in sorting out there problems Man to man ?
Not many I'd say most of them would be the ones looking for protection from the refs.
