The Tribune is one step away from the Sunday World IMO. The lads father is dead, so can't defend himself and I'd lay money neither the DUP member or the source is named. Sounds like a Suzanne Breen exclusive fiction.

In what way is Breens work fiction? Did she photshop the picture of Gerry and Liam Adams in a Dundalk newspaper or has she said anything that isnt remotely true?
I was listening to her on Today FM on Friday and she seemed to know Iris quite well and seemed to hint at further revelations to come.

The problem is we have no way of knowing what she says is true as she doesn't do supporting evidence. If she does here I'll be happy to take all that back.

Seany has said this too and he has been proved right so far.

Ziggy, Seany may have known the story was about to break but he doesn't know whether or not it's actually true. I don't see the point of stories like this other than for crass titillation (a la the Sunday World). The McCambley family has been shamed already, the Viris humiliated and the Punt is toast. Why use a dead man to inflict further damage?

Sarcasm will never detract from the fact that the thing that dare not speak its name in SF circles is that 69-94 was a bit of a defeat - not an honourable draw - and calling the campaign in that period as heroic is like saying that Jade Goody with a face-lift would make her attractive.

A face-lift and worming treatment still wouldn't make her attractive at this stage.

The fact remains that those republicans who condemn the attack yesterday - but prior to 1994 would have talked of LEGITIMATE TARGETS - have a bit of thinking to do. If it was not wrong in 1972, 1982 or 1992, then why was it was wrong yesterday? Thus, logic dictates that those who attacked the RUC throughout the Troubles, in hindsight, are "scum" "traitors" and "evil". People cannot be choosy with the truth. Same aim, same logic! The most popular ballad in Republican pubs and clubs is Sean South. South's intentions in 1957 were to kill police officers, so why sing a song to the glory of a man who tried to kill police officers 50 years ago, and condemn those who did it yesterday? ps - the IRA killed a Catholic policeman from Ballycastle the day before South was killed. A man who had a GAA background! So, please lets not take the high moral ground when it is, obviously, clouded by hippocrites with short memories. If attacks on police officers are wrong, then they were always wrong - or is there something I have missed?

Hmmm.... I think there was something happened in the intervening years (1994-2010).

Not sure, but I have a vague recollection...

There was something...

Let me see.

Hmm...

No, it's gone.

Mustn't have been important.

Of course you're correct, can't argue when 'logic dictates'.

Rumors that the Punt is going to walk this afternoon.

I didn't put Campbell in because he is so obviously dim - the Dupers couldn't possibly go for someone so stupid, could they?

Surprised to see Dodds the front runner. From what I know of him, he isn't interested in slumming it with the Irish donkeys at Stormont (not to mention a total liability of a wife - and we know where that gets you!)

lads i know this is a bit of topic but could anyone name or tell me where i could find the 1968 minor squad that was defeated by Sligo in Croke park? any help would be useful

Call into the Irish News offices and they should be able to sort you out. The Linen Hall Library should have the back issues of the Irish Press which will have it or maybe even the Irish Times on-line archive (though I'd be sceptical about the latter). Otherwise ring the Anglo Celt (Cavan town) and ask them.

Well I just meant over the next few weeks Ziggy. Things could go either way, the Punt is replaced from within, or SF collapse the current arrangement at their next Ard Chomhairle meeting and then it will be elections.

She said she was standing down last week for "health reasons". Try to keep up!

Aye but until she actually hands in her written notice, she continues to get paid - presumably for doing feck all.
