GAA Discussion / Re: Qualifier Draw?
July 15, 2007, 06:44:53 PM
at first glance my q/finals are (no insult to any county omitted)

Tyrone v Meath
Sligo  v Monaghan (mabye)
Derry v Kerry
Dublin v Cork

if this is the case, GAA will have major problem with second q/finals

Derry v Kerry
Dublin v Cork

Dublin will want Croke park for themselves v Cork,  (Cork will piss and moan about a neutral venue) Hard to see Kerry v Derry attracting a huge audience by them selves in a q/final

we have a pretty inexperianced forward line at this point.

lets hope it works. Kilcoyne just scored a point.

I felt coming in to the game that Mayo would have to score 2-10 or thereabouts. hard to see that happening now. Hope we come out strong or our season will be over.

The outstanding tie today is the Derry v Mayo clash at Celtic Park

As I have said before, you cannot make this sh*t up.

mike finnerty on mad west is brutal, dont know from the tone of his voice whether it is almost a goal or a mile wide. almost reminds me of brian carty, not quiet though.

Derry 0-5
Mayo 1-1

Sounds like Derry are dominating, very luck goal for Mayo, or would almost be over.

An unusual angle, but Mayo may benefit from the fact that they a playing a team, who six days ago played armagh, in what by all accounts could be described as a tight phyiscal game. Not too many teams have played Armagh in the past ten years and had not a few players sore for a few weeks. (no indicement of Armaghs style, I wish for their sheer intensity, that they were still in. well worth paying to see in my mind)

Any resonable Mayo fan that left croke park last September, did not expect Mayo to win an all-ireland within the next two-to three years, I hope all the tinkering around has at least brought us a little closer to that goal. We will know a lot on Saturday evening.

Not convinced by Howley, cannot get it out of my head, how last year in the league semi-final v Galway in Castlebar, he made some crazy runs up the field and was within 35 yards of the goal , but had no idea what to do and more than once doubled back out the field and lost the ball.

Thankfully, JOM has finally figured out that Gardner is not senior standard. We are still lacking in size,

is macdonald fit enough to play any part in the game.

Mayo have nobody to blame for any tough draw or trip, but themselves after their performance against Galway. Sligo's win today, shows that due to our lack of physicality v galway, we were beaten out the gate.

there are no easy games left for Mayo, as if they win next week, will play either Cork, Galway, Laois(Dublin) and Monaghan (Tyrone) a week from Sunday.

Were there any positives from a mayo standpoint yesterday, The manner in which they won can be alll that bad, as Cavan Levelled the game with 20 mins to go.  Will Macdonald be able to play any part, what solutions do we have for Backs, Howley has not impressed me at all, seems we are crying out for a full-back line.
