GAA Discussion / Re: Ulster Club Championships

Anyone know how to tune into Q101.2 on the internet? Unfortunately I've been down with the cold all weekend and I am unable to make it to the Greencastle v Drumhowan JFC Semi-final. I've tried listening to Q101.2 on the internet before, but it never connects. Does everyone have this problem or am I doing something wrong?

Did Robert Robinson not finish off our Irish friend, when he found out that he wasn't Cam?

No, turns out Connor is alive and well. We just don't know where.

just heard on the wireless that live reports of the errigal ciaran match are being broadcasted from Q101 thanks to the "great" Paddy Hunter.
so obviously game is definitely going ahead!

I wouldn't take what Q101 says as gospel truth. That said, I haven't heard anywhere else that the game has been called off.

Does anyone have any theories as to what happened in Lou's 'missing week'? All we know it, that he got a tattoo on his back.

Also, how did Lou miss that week?

Anyone have the odds for the JFC? Be interesting to know where Greencastle comes in the pecking order.

GAA Discussion / Re: Harte calls for GAA World Series
November 17, 2006, 09:04:01 PM
Could it be that Harte says these things at Gala Events and other GAA events that he has been invited to? Then when he makes a comment about what he believes in, the media prints it? Noooo, that couldn't be it guys and gals!

GAA Discussion / Harte calls for GAA World Series
November 17, 2006, 07:10:46 PM
QuoteTyrone manager Mickey Harte has urged the GAA to abandon the International Rules series and replace it with a GAA World Series for winners of the senior, intermediate and junior All-Ireland club championships.

"We need to begin to generate an international dimension to Gaelic games," Harte said at a debate in DCU about the future of the International Rules series on Thursday night, November 16.

"Let's not forget inter-county football started with the clubs. Clubs represented their counties in the first instance. Clubs can also represent our country at junior, intermediate and senior.

"We have teams in virtually every part of the world and there are certainly teams who could meet that standard. We could begin by having a World Series at club level."

He added: "It might take time, but so what? Certainly Gaelic football is being played elsewhere."

There should be a European competition set up. All Ireland Club Winners of Seniors, Immediate and Junior levels in each country, including Ireland, should play each other for a European Cup.

Are you heading down on Sunday? Good luck!

I hope too. I'm dosed with the cold today and feeling pretty shitty. Plus I've an assignment to hand in on Monday. All being well, I'll be there.

You see Ziggylo, when you do a bit of research the knee-jerk re-action isn't alway the right one. In fact it rarely is. Posters on here aren't stupid. That's why so many voted no.

You see Hedgehog, I didn't make any sort of judgement. I wanted this to also be a discussion, rather than just a voting thread.

Out of curiousity, who voted no and why?

Whatever the reason, be thankful it's now being looked at. That said, would have been nice if it was looked at after the muliple requests from GAA players, rather than the single request from FAI and IRFU.

Wales soccer manager John Toshack was given a tour of Croke Park yesterday and was blown away with how good it is. He said, "Now the modern Croke Park appears to be able to retain that magic within the surroundings of one of the best arenas in Europe, if not the world."

He also added "The view for the supporters is superb and I'm sure our fans will take up their full allocation of 7,500 tickets. But as a manager it is the pitch and dressing room areas that concerned me most. On both counts, I was delighted with what I saw."
