Was the general consensus not that Jackson did ok?
I havent seen the media comment on whether he was good or bad. The lynch mob on here were going to say he was terrible regardless. There were certainly a lot more inconsistencies in the defence's evidence which is to be expected as there were 4 of them and everyone was drunk. There are enough gaps and contradictions between the girl's evidence and her earlier statements for PJ and Olding to almost certainly get off though. I thought she did sound coached in some of her comments. "I utterly refute everything you have just said" struck me as an unnatural response from a 19 year old but then she can hardly say "you're full of shit" in court either.

I did hear a rumour her parents work in the field - dad either a judge or barrister and mum a solicitor.  (could be b*llshit though)

Heard medical and uncle was a a barrister, could be bullshit and wouldnt make a pile of difference, she answered very well and the guys didnt, its just down to the jury

I'm not confused, I wanted him after Fergie as he would have been able to attract the better players and possibly won something (like he's proven) he was still very good manager as his tactics then were defensive but never pretty... Utd still needed to have a big name after Fergie, he'd have been gone by now but I'd say Utd would have won a league with him TBH

Booked to go to Iceland Tuesday week on a whim last night  ;D. Only £200 return for three of us. Anybody got any useful info??

Daughter just back from Iceland yesterday. They had a blast and did the heap, photos are amazing and for my daughter to come back impressed is pretty impressive! If you have a 17 year old you'll understand!

But seriously expensive!

The Funeral Murders on BBC2 was totally compelling. Remember the time well and must bring back some memories for MR2 etc from the area.
Anonymous interviews seemed conveniently bullshitty
Aye stood out a mile. "Nuala" in particular was fake as fcuk.

The documentary was really good but defo strange to then have Nuala tell us what her mum saw when everything else was from first hand witnesses. Not being bias but thought some of the soldiers and RUC guys interviewed came across very badly.
Nuala's mum seemed to see a lot of stuff for a woman who just happened upon this when she was walking by. The abduction, what happened in Casement Park and the execution in waste ground away across the road on, up an alley on waste ground. Going by the footage, there didn't seem to be a large amount of people in Casement or on the waste ground but Nuala's mum was allowed to casually dander around. Nuala seemed very affected by what her mother saw. I'm not sure I believe Nuala.

Nuala was completely full of shite! I've never heard so much bullshit! The rest was what I expected, I'd expect the cops to say what they said...

I had some flashbacks from the Stone madness!! Don't know how lucky I was being so close, Tom who was on from the Healy funeral directors is a good friend and a club team mate of mine and remember before the carnage of shouting over to him! His da was never the same to be fair..

Thought Murray spoke really well and for me the best reflection I had of the time

See the problem with Rory is that he portrays this image of being 1 of the lads, up for a laugh. Then we see now he's looking to limit the alcohol sales at golf events because someone kept shouting his wife's name...he's a complete paradox of an individual who doesn't know what he wants to be. He wants to be Tiger and have the same aura, but he neither has the stature or ability to do so. He needs to cop himself on. Great golfer and all he is but he needs to define who he wants to be instead of this middle of the road tosspot.

I think he just wants to be a great golfer... keeping people happy who are tosspots doesnt really need to be done i'd assume, the media stuff is about trying to say the right things...

Being Tiger on the golf course is everyones dream (if they play golf) but off the course i'd say Tiger can be a twat

They were poor witnesses

Certainly appeared so compared to the composed, assertive and combative complainant who was operating at a different level of intelligence and maturity than the accused.  Little things like that stick in the minds of jurors, so long as they didn't find the complainant too sure of herself in dealing with 6 days of questioning.

Coached?

As opposed to two lads whose careers involved portraying an image to the public? They had every advantage in that regard and still came across terribly.

Where do you get off, lad?

Strip joints!  ;)

Thanks everybody.
Thanks Crossbar for the offer but I got a more central one which is extremely handy.
They know who they are and it is appreciated
Post their details as it might save me a few quid next time I'm up shopping.

Why did he not just park it at the airport, the miserable cnut  ;)

Its was strange there was no mention of Fr Alec Reid in the documentary at all, considering he gave the soldiers the last rites and was present when they where abducted first.

Casement took some hammering then

Publically slating players seems to be the last resort, but he made a lot of valid points

He accused players of hiding or not showing personality. Now that may well be true in some cases but it was well down the list of obvious problems that has resulted in serious under performance all season.

He accused players of hiding and lacking personality, yet he doesn't want players to pass the ball through the midfield, he wants to play 2 holding midfielders and play it long from the back looking to get on the end of second balls and knockdowns. As an example he chose Fellaini over Mata in the biggest game of the season. It has deflected the conversation away from his own agricultural style football. He has accused the players of playing with fear when this is the very trait that forms the basis of his playing style in big games. Play it tight, take no risks, full backs stay back in position, get it forward quickly and hope for a set piece or a mistake from the opponent. Yet he has made this all about the players and some people continue to lap it up.

It could well be he asked the players to play with no fear and attack them when on the break..

Not his biggest fan, wanted him when Fergie left, as in my view he would have steadied the ship a lot better than the muppets that came in behind him

Recorded it will watch it tomorrow, half expecting to see my face.. so soon after Stone! The place was on edge..
I'll look out for you. Did you have hair in 1988?  ;D

Flowing locks!

I remember standing at the roundabout at Kennedy way for the Stone carnage and one of the news team came up to us and were asking why are there so many people out to mourne these IRA men and woman, as a 16 year old your were mainly curious to see if something would kick off, as they generally did at these funerals, but I remember saying that people are out to show respect for these fallen volunteers or words to that effect (i'd no political views growing up despite the day to day), the view of a young teenager i suppose growing up in a place that during those times was relentless, shootings and bombs going off, riots on plenty occasions following various incidents..

Bizzare times. The Michael Stone is the one that sticks out, watching the ground blow up was almost unreal, hearing the cracks of Stone's gun go off and watching the fellas (including my older brother) chase after him, madness

I picked this film (Rocky) when it came out over here to watch over Easter with my dad and two brothers, I picked it because they were showing both, Rocky 1 and 2! Must have been 1980 or thereabouts! I remember my da saying at the start that it's looks crap! But at the end of both films we'd ghe gloves out in the house having boxing fights!

I picked the next film, Airplane!
