i just watched my Sam 2005 DVD after reading that article earlier

O'Neill was simply awesome as were tyrone on many occassions that year

O'Neills penalty v Dublin in the replay was leathal-ive never seen better

some of his scores from play were outrageous--i stuck the DVD on after watchin 15mins of the O'Byrne Cup Dubs Carlow game and my faith in the greatest game in the world is restored

O' Neill is a genius, sheer f**king genius and i would love to see him play again at the same level as he performed in that year

I also was dead level at head height on the Hogan Stand side with O'Neill when he scored that rocket against Mayo in 2004

What a player and what a loss to the game as there arnt many or enough with his natural ability

they are obviously trying to stop hoods and smickers wearing stripy Fred Perry jumpers coming in and stabbing people after sinking their 24 packs of buds

is there a pandemic of 24 pack of buds in west belfast or are the boys just weightliftin them just walkin up and rown the road--over the last 2 years iv been shocked at how many smickers ive seen strugglin, carryin these up the road like it was a cross they had to bear

in primary school as a 10yo high ball came in about 30 yards out, i stayed knowing the ball would bounce over the full back who went to it--ran onto bal 25 yards out with only the keeper to beat--(no better feeling in the world is there?!) keeper came flying out i toe-tapped it over keeper's head the fisted it in to empty net as it came down--have never 4got it and still tell the keeper about it who ended up going to my secondary school!

one more--championship debut for club-- ball came out to me 20 yards out out after being crashed against bar by a teammate--i wa running towards goal fast, collected ball--full-back and keeper in front of me--went to blast it--full back and keeper dived to block it-both landed on their holes as i toe tapped it back into my hand--calmly stroked it into net in the summer sun

wouldnt it be great if life was like that every day

Just how good is Evan Doyle? I watched the game on TV last night and he looked pretty impressive. Was that his normal standard or just a one of? I never heard of him before.

thought he was a class apart--best carlow player on show and mom by a distance

real natural-put in some great blocks on brogan and always seemed to have time on the ball and moved at a serious pace
at the start me and my mate were laughin assumin Carlow wud b crap and Doyle stood out as he was bald--but by 15 minutes in we were laughin and roaring him on like he was a cult hero!

didnt waste one ball bar a kick that went dead at the far right corner near the end--deserved not to finish on the losing side --in glad carlow got the draw for him more than any1 else

wud also like to know if this was a one off performance--however he looks like a conditioned athlete unlike most of hs carlow teammates so id say it wont b a one off

he looks like a typical example of a great player in a mediocre county team who will never win anything and as a result not get the individual honours he would have the potential to ascertain should he have been born in the kingdom or the city.

But for the moment due to Setanta's live screening enjoy ur moment in the sun Evan Doyle

been here a while and plucked up the courage at long last.

so where do Antrim stand now, are they any better than they were befor Jody took over? can they progress or are we destined to be in the nether regions for ever?

the result against Monaghan would suggest we have not improved--however monaghan were v. good last year and seemed to play a strong team when compared with their 1st 2 McKenna cup games. We are also missing the Uni players and have some injuries so we wont know until well into the league how well we will fare in the championship

I would be sceptical as to our chances of beating Queens 2moro nite

when i read IN on a monday the first thing i look for is the team lineups, the subs that came on and then the scorers--the quotes and match reports are just paper-talk and are usually boring--i'd bet that almost anyone on this board could do a similer match report to any IN journo

In the summer i like to read the player ratings-they are a good read

The thing that is really worth reading are some articles ie against the breeze--Heaneys article today was good--or as mentioned articles that give an insight as to the player himself and his life
