Tourlestrane 0-05 Castlebar Mitchels 1-10
So it's Castlebar versus Corofin next Sunday 13th November in McHale Park as expected.

..Castlebar at home in Connacht while Brigids have to play Aughawillan at 'home' in Carrick because the CC won't let them play in Kiltoom.

Prentyism at its best. Mitchels designating a fûcking training pitch at McHale as their home pitch to skirt around laws (made when CC stewards failed to prevent a few Corofin yobs from heckling the ref after the 2011 final) while Brigids will likely play two games in Carrick that should have been in Kiltoom if Corofin make the final. Brigids honestly designated their actual home pitch and are paying a heavy price for it.

It pays to cheat in Connacht.

Such a whining little queen.

Mullan is proper corner back so will add some depth there as we are a bit light in that area in terms of cover.

The rest of the players called up don't really seem to address the issues we have at the minute - a physical threat at the edge of the square and a reliable free taker.

I don't know much about McHugh. I think he was minor in 2013 but has not featured in any of the u21 squads since so I'd hold little prospects for him but who knows.

We have plenty of depth in the half forward/midfield/half back lines at the minute which is where most of these lads seem to ply their trade so I think they will find it tough to make the cut.

Could McCullagh do a job at 14?

I know little re McHugh too but his scoring return over the last few seasons is excellent.

Being top scorer two years on the trot in the Division 2 probably suggests he's a free taker so maybe that's the thinking there.

Did Conor play any games for Tyrone this year.

Definitely played in the O'Fiach and McKenna but think he barely featured in the league (if at all) and definitely not in the Championship.

I think they went for Boyle as he was the populist's choice since he was a name. However Durcan deserved it in front of Boyle and I'd have had O'sullivan ahead of Boyle also for that matter. Similar with McHugh (although he had a strong case for one), his family name done him no harm and Donnelly edged out Brennan/Acheson unfairly imo because of his name also. As with all subjective awards, there is political manoeuvring in these selections but I wouldn't take them too seriously. Look what happened McMahon last year when he should have lifted POTY but they give it to McCaffrey instead because of media image.

As for POTY I imagine Keegan will get it and deservedly so imo. However as with mcMahon last year, it wouldn't overly surprise me if it goes to the more clean cut image of Fenton.

Ryan McHugh was a cert for me, he was immense in pretty much every game he played this year and you like who Donegal played in Championship football this year - Fermanagh, Monaghan x2, Tyrone and Dublin. I think he should have his third all star in a row if things weren't as political as they are.

Donnelly is quite fortunate, he had guys like Acheson and Brennan up against him here from two lesser counties and Brennan in particular was superb this year.

I didn't think Boyle was very good this year, he is quite rash and undisciplined. Durcan was much more deserving of one but obviously they decided against fitting sqare pegs into round holes this year.

How do you mean? They were both half backs all year

I would view centre back as a more specialist position than a wing back, the traditional view would be a 6 holds ground while the wing backs are allowed freedom to roam forward.

Danny Heavron should definitely be in there.

Totally agree. He was brilliant all season and was the best player on the pitch as Derry led tipp in inj time. Tipp get 2 or 3 players in the top 50 and we get none. But it's a bit like alan brogan picking his top 15 from the season. Mayo were arguably the better team over the 2 games v dublin and but for 2 freak own goals and other bits of bad luck lost. Brogan only had 2 mayo players in his team of the year with 7 or 8 dubs. Crazy given how even it was between the 2 teams.

I would say he plays an almost indentical role for Derry as Peter Harte does for Tyrone. He just always seems to have so much time on the ball and has that really classy finishing and composure. Why's he not committing for Derry next year? He's very much a late bloomer as he wouldn't have been one of Derry's most talked about player in the past 5/6 years but he's definitely head and shoulders their best and would make any county side in the country for me.

I watched the documentary yesterday.

Thought it was outstanding with a lot of unseen/unheard footage from the early days.

There will never be a band like them again.
Did you see it at the cinema?

It's available for download.

What's the truth in the story that Conor McKenna was kicked out of Aus because he was playing for Eglish and drinking this past 7 weeks.

Wishful thinking I would imagine.

So you were guessing? As I said before you stated it as a fact
You have no entitlement to speak on behalf of the Tyrone players unless mandated to do so.
You have no idea of how many Tyrone players go to Mass or not.
It was a daft assertion to make.

What???

Saying 5 decades of the Rosary before a match is daft and mind boggling when you consider the teams Harte has put out that dive/sledge etc. He still fails to eradicate the nonsense from his teams and has yet to forgive RTE for their mistake even after they apologised... Not very Christian behaviour!

The apology was about as sincere as your impartiality when it comes to Tyrone and Mickey Harte.

Harte had the death of his daughter used in a radio skit about him and RTE decided no action was appropriate against those who carried out and sanctioned the skit. I can fully understand why Harte felt there apology was disingenuous and how can you forgive those who show no remorse or means to atone.

You act like Tyrone are the only team who dive and sledge, some of your own county men don't come out too well going by recent publications - then again sincerity isn't something that would be associated with you.
