GAA Discussion / Re: Dublin v Tyrone

On the assumption that none of the longterm injuriesie. Dooher, Gormley, Mcguigan, Gormley, Holmes, Gourley or Cavlan are fit my pick for Dublin would look like

1.McConnell

2.Ricey 3.C McGinley or Joe McMahon 4.McGee

5.D Harte 6.Enda McGinley 7.D Carlin

8.Kevin Hughes 9.S Cavanagh

10.T McGuigan 11.Mugsy 12.R Mellon

13.Penrose or N Gormley 14.P Rouse 15.A McCarron

C McGinley's lack of mobility worries me so if fit I'd put in Joe Mc.

Reckon that Enda Mc would do a great job sweeping-up and starting plays at no.6 until Gormley returns

Although the Full Forward line lacks experience, the new guys have all looked good so far and very few experienced options exist. Think that big Rouse has the potential to bring a slightly different dimension to the attacks and would keep Mugsy in the centre had a big game their against derry.

Still a strong team as they seem to have relative sharpness at the moment, they diffently won't get a hiding

Still, I can't how the Ulster Council can justify the big fuss as they let the same action pass last year. Unless they had officially warned the Tyrone County Board last year on the QT.

Cavo's ratings would be no suprise to me allways thought he was the most naturally gifted player I'd seen play for Tyrone

Surely Mickey Harte committed the same sin last year when he kept Rammie Mulgrew out of his uni squad so he could have a look at him.

As it went unremarked last year, you'd wonder why it's got all the fuss and attention this time around?

McGourty in registered to play football with St Pauls, played in some pre-season friendlies last year and for the U-21s in the recent East Down Championship

Onion Bay, if I mind right Harte withheld young Mulgrew from his college squad during last years McKenna Cup.
The article you refer to (haven't read it yet) seems to be a dramatic extension of the same policy.
Would agree that it doesn't make much sense, the stronger the college teams are then the more compettive the matches are and the county teams benefit in the end.

"also heard that 2 hurlers showing well; mcgourty & johnson"

Seen McGourty play in the U-21 Championship recently, looks like a fine young player for the future.
Would be doubtful if he's a ready made solution for the 2007 team, but definately 1 to be groomed for a midfield slot, needs regular football.

As far as I know the East Down U-21 B final ended in confusion today with the ref blowing up early.
He sent 2 off from Ardglass late in the second half, didn't seem to regain control of the situation and ended the game.
The talk afterwards was that he abandonded the game with no result to be registered.

I played in 2006 (all comps) for the first time and thought it was a great set-up, will play again for sure if it can be kept going.

Game was very one-sided although the Knockbridge lads kept going to the end.
The new DJ showed up well and scored around 2-5 (i think) some great touches certainly showed more than in the Kilkenny final when I seen him last, goals were a penalty and a flukey one from a free that the keeper should have caught over his head.
Usual claasy performance from Paddy Hogan at centre half and a big performance from a young  guy in midfield Paul Murray or Murphy.
Cheers again for the directions

GAA Discussion / Re: 20 Questions

1. The unfortunate truth.
2. Last year's Dublin Tyrone Quarter-Final
3. Ger Cavlan, on he's day a genius
4. ONeil, usually a good mixture of knowledgeable comment and pure nonsense.
5. 3 strikes and you're out for foul, abusive or outwardly sectarian comments
6. The Gooch
7. Yes of course, but they seem to be becoming a thing of the past, with managers insisting players show commitment by choosing
8. N/A
9. My wee cub meeting Sean Cavanagh on the pitch at Casement during the presentation of the McKenna cup. Any mention of it still brings a big involuntary grin to his face
10. Standing in Healy Park in May listening to a group of young Derry gabshites simply laughing out loud at Tyrone's abject performance that day. Had to grip the rail with both hands and keep repeating to myself, don't turn round, for god's sake don't turn around.
11. Either,at my age a glimpse of either is welcome
12. Breaking Ball
13. N/A
14. DJ
15. Pray that all of last years injuries clear up (esp. Brian McGuigan), uncover some cover in relation to scoring forwards and get 1st choices established for key defensive positions (FB and CHB) and defensive/holding midfield position, early in the season.
16. Pressure up the field on delivery and double-tag with a sweeper role if FB is struggling.
17. A long championship season for Tyrone. In Tyrone for the Sigersons to perform on the big days, In Down St. Pauls to adapt to life in Div3
18. Hopefully Tyrone, sneaky feeling for the JOM fairytale in Mayo
19. Kilkenny, on route to 3-in-a-row.
20. To become more involved and post more, currently find it difficult as recently so many of the threads disolve into he-said-she-said drivel so quickly
