A class act sure enough Fivesams, but not in the same league as Paddy Doherty, the score getter supreme. Some talent on that field, nice to see them again

Sunday will be our day of Shame. Black Armbands should be worn by all G.A.A. people. Our fore-fathers will be spinning in their graves. What thanks will we get for it, naught but the hard word.

Apparently there is a third division Hockey match on, which would naturally take preference.

Would try Lynch at MF alongside Coulter with  Dan Gordon at FF. Would also play Molloy at CHB creating a strong physical spine down the middle

What the hell are you on Gael. What has Eddie Mc Grady got to do with this debate. Who are the Down men attacking Greenan. For gods sake man, take your own advice and sober up.

Johnie99 is spot on, Matts obsession with the Tea and Sandwiches is getting past a joke. Time he copped himself on

I concur fully with Greenans views on this issue, but the debate took place and we lost, so its foolish and unhelpful that he should raise the issue now. Yes we were sold a Pup, but no point crying over spilt milk. Lets chalk it up to experience and move on

I dont think Medals are presented on the Hogan Stand, following the game, at least i have never seen it happen. Presentations usually take place at Co. Functions, usually weeks later

GAA Discussion / Re: Down Sen Footballers 2007

A performance from Down is more important than a win, though i fancy our chances. Habit is a major factor in football, i have seen good teams develop a losing habit, and mediocre teams develop a winning one. Its all about perception and expectation. For that reason i believe it is absolutely essential that we develop a winning habit pre-championship,so the time for experimentation is over, lets get our  best available team on the field, revved up and fighting.

Must agree with Fivetimes, the Marshes Is a dump which no amount of development will improve sufficiently to win the hearts of the majority of Down fans. Money should have been invested in creating a centre of excellence which would include Co Ground,Co Offices,Training Pitches, Gym facilities etc. My favoured location would also be around Newcastle/Castlewellan area, which would be fairly central and accessible to all clubs within the Co.

My earlier doubts re.the long term viability of this Paperare slowly being laid to rest. This is a quality production, which deserves to grow and prosper. Todays edition was excellent, with entertaining and thought provoking articles. Yes there is room for improvement, but they have hit the ground running, and hopefully will continue that momentum

GAA Discussion / Pick Up
January 15, 2007, 04:55:03 PM
I am becoming increasingly convinced that the pick-up rule is rarely enforced,is in fact practically unenforcable and is rapididly degenerating into farce as the game becomes faster. I would confidently wager that at least 80% of the pickups made during games at weekend did not comply with rules, and were not penalised.
