I don't know about the rest of ye but I'm lucky if she gives me one of these every couple of months. (I used to eat one every day).

I'd say Scorcher came out in the late sixties. :-[

Were those others before or after Scorcher? If I remember rightly, Tiger came out a long time before scorcher.

[img]http://bike.blogware.com/old%20helmets%202.JPG[/img[/quote        Maddog I hope that tree in your post isn't what I think it is ;D Can any of the older members tell me the name of the comic "Billy's Boots" was in,I think it was Scorcher or Score but can't really remember. My favourite comic character was "Roger the Dodger".

We know we are not a big club & we don't give a fcuk unlike our keep up with the Joneses neighbours. Live for the day is our mantra & we've had plenty of them against the "historians".

Smartarse!! were you never told sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. Who are in the final?
But it is still wit. Burt (Donegal) are playing Creggan (Antrim)

Ulster Club Junior Hurling Championship 2011   Final   12 30 PM   Clones   Kickhams GAC Creggan   ---    v   Beart/Burt   ---   James Clarke

from ulster.gaa.ie

Haven't seen either team play, Creggan have the McCanns decent hurlers who if given the ball can do damage, I'd imagine at that level. Burt, they supply a fair amount of hurlers to the Donegal set up along with Setanta so they will certainly not be lacking in experience.

Based on that I'm going for a Burt win, though I hope Creggan win
Thanks for the info MR, the reason I ask is the ulster champs play the All Britain champs (Fullen Gaels Warwickshire). The last twice Warks champs (John Mitchels HC) played the Ulster champs they ran them fairly close & this year are hoping to go that big step further.

Absolutely brilliant it is.

The best card game ever imo. I wonder are there many on here under the age of forty who would know how to play it.It seems to be a dying pastime. Partners is a great version of it, here in Birmingham we often had 9 players to a table.(3 lots of 3 partners).

There should be plenty - I was rared on it by my late Grandmother. Some great childhood memories - and although I remember the scoring and the values - I'm struggling to remember the start and the strategies.

Had this one cousin with a bit of a stammer and I can still hear the cries of him - "Sh sh sh sh she rrrrrrrenaged the auld bitch so she did"!

:D
Funnily enough it was my late Grandmother who taught myself and the brothers how to play(before we could read). It's a very popular game with women, for what ever reason. You start the game by dealing 5 cards to each player in 2 rounds(3 cards then 2 or vice-versa,never 4 & 1......tinkers deal). The 1st player to the left of the dealer plays the leading card.
