It's a great statistic in fairness. That's 3 different panels of players of 25 or so that have won a Leinster. I know the schools amalgamation hasn't really provided any success at A level but you would have 3 or 4 players from each school who could probably hurl at the 'A' standard.
Hopefully we see a good year from the minor hurlers to continue this progress and a decent showing from our U21's over the next couple of years.

It's a discussion board unlaoised not a cheerleaders forum so it can still be debated. I would concur with PK that Darren Maher would add strength to the team and panel however Cahir seems to be growing into the position.
I was in Nolan Park when we played the Dubs 3 or 4 years ago and Maher was great at full back that day. A very tenacious player and he would definately be an addition to the team.

The hurlers have a similar problem to the footballers in that there are alot more options in attack than defence. If we get any injuries or lads are out of sorts we would struggle. In saying that the hurlers have been generally injury free aside from Picky's break.

Congratulations to Mountrath CS who won the SH B final today by 3 points. They were made sweat for it though as they were 10 points up with 15 minutes to go. Another great result for Laois hurling and best of luck to them in the All Ireland series!

On Friday evening in Crettyard.

Should be interesting alright. Kilcruise certainly very fit for this time of year and O'Dempseys will benefit from having both O'Leary and Meredith available to them. In saying that Kilcruise will have Meaney. Should be close enough.

I see where Setanta are showing the game so that will stop people travelling up from Laois.

Healy in the 'Hoganstand' team of the week. Small bit of recognition for his performance on Sunday. Hopefully he grows into that position because it will be crucial to have a solid full back come championship.

I see that 'Hoganstands' love for John O'Loughlin hasn't abated as he is named in their team of the week again. Well done Johnno!

Interesting to see that Cahir Healy got man of the match yesterday. Indo gave him a 9. Considering he was struggling somewhat it's great to see that maybe he's settling into the full back position. Cha Dwyer showing how important he is to the team contributing with 3 points from play.

One of the reporters on the game today was praising O'Carroll for not taking the easy option of a fisted point and instead laying a goal on a plate for Kingston.

Got that one completely wrong and glad I did. Fair play to them and particularly O'Carroll. Des Cahill was on commentary and couldn't get over the silence when the Laois team came out. Said there were far more Rossies in the stand. He was full of praise for Evan O'Carroll. Said it was a cracking game to watch. Anyhow delighted we got the win. Didn't realise McMahon had left the panel. Meant Paul Begley was full back and Timmons into the corner. How did Colm Begley go at centra half? Boyle at 11? Donaher sounds like he had a good game. Hopefully they can kick on from here as the division is wide open and we've given ourselves a fighting chance.

Fantastic win today. Great to see Purcell scoring a goal and Zane Keenan reliable from frees. He is very important to the team. Onwards to Wexford now with a bit more confidence.

That's the issue under TOF the forwards have to be on fire because you will have to outscore the opposition. Obviously to win any game youhave to outscore your opponent but as you say, because out defense in so leaky there is more pressure on the forward lines.

Look at the score that both Fermanagh and Tipp put up against us last year.  We eventually outscored Fermanagh but despite 4 goals we couldn't get the better of Tipp.

I've said it more than once but if you have a man in the backs that can score a couple of points for you but cannot defend then you are in bother.

This is a sub forum so if I want to look at or discuss GAA at a national level I will go to the main forum. If I want to check out the Offaly football championship then I will go to the Offaly forum.

We are in a Laois GAA forum! Dunno, do we put Laois into every thread then?
