Yeah, we have to accept that.
And I didn't go for it so there's no point whinging about someone else getting it.

Anyway, what about the motions passed? U16s not allowed to play for county minors the biggest talking point. Fair enough, I suppose. Young lads playing a lot at that age.
I'd expect the next move will be to make Minors ineligible for U21 or Senior at County level.

Presumably a cohesive bunch of "genuine student" lads will always do better than a made up team with a load of County lads who are more interested in their County duties.

While I'm at it, Gerry O'Malley was the best Rossie I ever saw.

A lot of the old timers swore by Bill Carlos but I think Gerry shades it as he played for 17 years and often with very poor teams.
Carlos went of to America while young so only played for a few years and was surrounded by excellent players.
Carney or Langan best of yours? McDonald or Joe Corcoran in the running?

For our Lovley neighbours it's hard to look beyond Emlyn Mulligan. Most skilled player in Connacht with vision only equalled by Gooch. If I could nab any player in the country for my team he'd be very near the top of the list.
Packy McGarty, Cathal Flynn or Mickey Martin would give him a run for his money any day.
Ah now Lar - poor oul Syfín is only 13. He wouldn't be aware of the existence of them lads.

Love starting a wee bit of debate...so imho these are the best ever from each of the 32...I picked them from own opinion, in some cases from general opinion e.g. Jack Brattan and Seán Purcell and others were just pure guesses from a vague knowledge of your county's football history ....if anyone wants to suggest a player from London and NY feel free..

GAA Discussion / Re: Connacht U21 Championship 2014

If we Connacht bucks  were arrogant Nordies we'd be saying that the "Connacht champions will walk the All Ireland" or
"Counties who lose in Connacht should be let enter the other Provinces to bring up their standards"
Better put in one of these for some folks  :P :-*
Anyway we've got a tough one to start and if ever the cliche about we're looking no further than our next game was ever to apply - it's definitely the case this year.

Rather ironic that TG4 had a programme on the Guilford 4 last night.
THe most chilling part was where Gerry Conlon at the end mentioned some English Chief judge saying after they were freed that it would have been better if they were hung rather than exposing the Justice system.
That attitude alive and well with Callinanshatter.

Scary scenario .... and also scary that slíbhín Micilín Martin is now the cool clean hero.

Fair play to you Zulu ... but when you're debating with intransigent cloud cuckoo landers...... you should really save your fingers and go for a walk instead.
Mind you this subject comes up every year at this time and there are always a few who think the RC is the bees knees and all it needs is for "they" to do something about it.

And if you cant see it isnt, or at least its potential, I pity you.

By the way, you do know both sides of an argument must be intransigent or there'd be no argument, dont you? Dumbass
If you keep insisting today is Wednesday and I keep pointing out correctly that it's Tuesday we may be both intransigent but you'd be wrong. ;)
The Railway Cup has no potential any more -it went into decline in the 60s and has been dormant for the last 40 years.
It's a grand little exhibition for a number of the players( 80 or 90) just like All Star tours.
A bit like steam trains and oil lamps it's day as anything other than a meaningless tournament is gone.

. The latest story is so obviously a plant from the guards that it pretty much confirms that someone has something to hide.

There is a fair oul close this quick scenario going on alright.
Callinan "doth protest too much methinks" and then declared that there was no authorised or UUNAUTHORISED Garda involvement.
How could he declare the latter unless they already know who was involved.
Or is it the "deny everything" Fianna Fáil tack.

I was speaking to a friend of someone who was thinking of setting up a crematorium in the meath area. He was doing costings and a business plan his planner told him he'd need about 80grand cash handy. When he enquired what the cash was for he was told "incidentals". Like what? He asked.. To lubricate the wheels of admin.. Will I get receipts or tax relief? Your man laughed him out of the place..  Banks dont lend money for incidentals.. Well it depends who you are doesnt it?

That's great proof alright. ::)

In the main there isn't much wrong with the rules of hurling if the referee deals with the fundamentals early on, blowing for 5/6 steps in the first 5/10 mins usually knocks it on the head, early pulls and yellow given knocks it on the head and so on, the players generally cop on and play on

Exactly the kind of thing that brings out the 'let the game flow' crowd.

Pity Milltown couldn't get to Ref a few Inter County games.
But of course "hurlingman" won't have that because Mill is from bloody Antrim and wouldn't understand the game.  ::)
