Messages - Give and Go

While we go into meltdown over prayers in Tyrone, not an eyelid is batted at the close link between American Football and 'Church'. Religion is a huge part of football in US, huge teams from many faith backgrounds participate in prayer before games... I've been to some games there and its a common sight to see individual players kneel and pray before games and its done collectively in the locker rooms.
You can say it has no relevance here but it is interesting that it happens and there does not seem to be any outrage over it.
We are getting too excited. I don't believe Mickey forced his beliefs on anyone and all willingly participated.

Think brendanantrim is more realistic than give and go.i actually think there build up could be quicker.but the way pmcbride and a few others is playin they have a good chance.hope burke is a wee bit fitter
Can't see Carlow being near them with promotion at stake.

Antrim have possibly the best defensive record in the four divisions and have yet to concede a goal.
Their ability to turn defence into attack is impressive as they break with so much pace.
I'd fancy their chances of topping the group - especially with their good record against Laois in recent times.

A win is a win. No one has had it handy over there this year. Promotion guaranteed and thats progress

Laois and Antrim in round 5 is a huge game. Antrim have had the upper hand on Laois in last few years. If both win tomorrow that will be some clash. Looking forward to it.

No doubt Corporate Park are pushing for the development of an elite level; eight teams playing round robin. But they have to be seen to as concerned with the remaining counties hence the different tiers.
On the other hand there is lip service to the club.
When are we going to stop deluding ourselves?

If the club is so important how can additional inter county fixtures allow for a meaningful programme of club games - where county players take part?

We cannot have more inter matches full stop.

People at the top need to cry halt and rebalance the club - county divide.

The 4 divisions of the NFL are really working very well BUT that doesn't mean that we need a 2ND 'NFL' DRESSED UP AS A CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! Counties will get sick of playing each other - and that is why the bottom 16 do not want it.
Why do we keep trying to invent new competitions?
If we are serious about treating club players with respect we should pull back the inter county programme. people say that can't be done - of course it can.
The qualifiers, tiered championships, league championship suit the stronger outfits. They will continue to dominate.

If the league was marketed better, played in better weather it's status would improve, attendances would rocket. It would become a much more important and prestigious competition.
If it was played alongside a knockout championship players like Paddy O Rourke would have greater incentive - knock Dublin or Kerry or Mayo out and they are out! On any given day that could happen.

End result is we have less inter county competition - but greater quality and more competitive; a restricted season that reduces the advantage of the financially richer counties and brings hope back to all county squads.

will Jim make his players do same as Harte as done?
How come not one ex player has ever came out and said there is a ban. Because there isn't one. Quit making up lies

they know they cant step outside it. Ffs! Sean Cavanagh was on RTE less than 24 hours after his last game.
100% agree
The reason none of the players speak to rte is because it's a there way of showing Harte that they believe in him and support him 100%. That's straight from a players mouth. If you were the manager longballin and rte made a sketch that made fun of what happened I'd say the lads would show you the same solidarity. Harte will never talk to rte again, and if you were in his shoes neither would you

London are making Ruislip a fortress by the sounds of it! Another point picked up today. And what about Wicklow drawing with Antrim in Belfast??? I couldnt see anyone touching them up there.

London gave Wickla a thumping today - and have 5 more home games to come. Can they be the surprise packet in the promotion race?

Laois have Donie Kingston back and the players have bought into Sugrue.  They should go back up. Antrim have a kind run of fixtures and could be in promotion spot early before meeting stronger teams. Carlow had a good summer but have two sticky away games to start with which could put them under pressure. I think Limerick are going to be very competitive this year - they got a bad start last year and never recovered. Wicklow will find the going very tough - too much team building ahead for Evans this year. Funny thing about Div 4 this year is London have 7 home games and that will help them get a few wins. Leitrim are young and missing too many first teamers to seriously contend.

I suppose I am also referring to our habit of second guessing managers and players; engaging in constant speculation about decisions and motivations - more often than not done without factual basis. Here we are on about players he will or will not be including when in fact we have no idea what the management are thinking because they haven't made a public statement! Sometimes we are better to say nowt and stop adding to the swirl of rumour and innuendo that wafts around every county set up in the country!

The internet is the curse of the modern age!
And I'm as guilty as anyone before I start!
Everyone has an opinion these days and it must be heard regardless of how offensive it is.

Martin O Neill and the the Irish Team are getting it in the neck now after losing heavily last night. Laois footballers have been subject to it constantly on social media since 2003.....that was the sixth title since the start of the GAA!!

We need to stop this constant barrage of criticism of players, coaches, officials and either support them or stay away and keep mouths shut and keyboards quiet!

It ain't right the way society has gone - all this 'opinion' is very hurtful and damaging to those involved. Paying an admission fee into a game doesn't bestow this entitlement to abuse and insult the voluntary efforts of Gaels in all our clubs and counties.

Best wishes to the team and management in 2018.
