The Div 1 League Final was played last weekend. When I saw the result on the local paper I had to phone a friend to ask was it this years or last years final. It was great to get the leagues played but it seems teams played Saturday and Wednesday evenings so it was rushed. OK now the Championship starts five or six group  games. If a teams fails to make the knockout stage there season will be over second week of September. Is that what Clubs want.

GAA Discussion / Re: The Sunday Game

Didn't like Donal OG's comment about the Irish Rugby team on the front of the Sunday paper. If he is talking about the Indo the Hurling got lots of coverage in fact I still reading it. It was a super weekend for sport with the Hurling, Rugby and Golf plus the weather. Just thought it was a cheap shot.

Hard to disagree with your selection. But I hope you considered  Bobby Burns, Frank McNamee and Mick Casey.

I just discovered a exhibition GAA game was played in Neath in 1949 Irish XV v English XV. Know its a long time ago but anyone any information on this. Who played, Who organised it, Who picked the teams. Who won was it ever played again.

Have not been not here for a while. I enjoyed the Longford v Laois game or what I have  seen of it. But how Longford lost I am still trying to work out. I think if Mickey Quinn was there he would have steadied the ship. Twice Longford were in one on one with the keeper and the keeper saved I suppose to have to give him credit. With Cork and Down gone up Division 3 might not be so tough next year.

Great Times. Was working with a crowd of Rossies 1980. They thought they won win it the Bomber missed the final. They had the songs wrote, the flags up you name it. But in fairness they were a very good team [ I would never admit that to the crew I was working with] Harry Keegan was some corner back, Earley and the Jigger. What ever about Kerry winning 4 in a row that group of players should at least have won 1. So for that group of Roscommon players thanks for the memories. And for the F--kers I was working with I hope life treated ye well and ye are all as happy as I am.

Longford / Re: Longford Football (& Hurling) Thread

The Mullinalaghta v St Vincents game is surely what the GAA is all about. The big city club against the half parish. Hope TG4 show it live.

A lot of Football been played just to get rid of one team out of the group. Think Killoe will survive. Is it a open draw in the last 8 if so they could meet Slashers again.

It's time for Mayo to write the songs and paint the sheep. Sam could well spend the winter in the West.

With no outstanding team any of the 8 could go up or indeed down. I think it will be tight and I hope it gets coverage in the national press and on tv. Most of those teams have been training since before Christmas and any little success they get is going to come in the league.

Heard a song about him years ago was looking for it on U tube since he died but can't find it. It was called the Pride of Kiltoom and Roscommon. Any one ever here it ?

A Killoe v Lomans would be interesting indeed. As Declan Rowley trained Lomans to win the Westmeath title in 2014 and this year trains his home club Killoe.

Just looking at the draws all very interesting. Surely Athlone are a senior club. I see they are playing in the Leinster Inter/c
