On the positive side, Justy McMahon had a fine game and never gave 'the best forward in Ulster ®' a sniff before he was bizarrely substituted. I wonder will the CCCC have a look at the footage of tonights game as it appeared that Bradley got stuck into Conor Gormley on the ground in the incident were he got booked in the 1st half. Probably not, I suspect.

Sure they can look at Gormley's knee on Declan Mullan when they're at it. Or did you miss that?

Tough game ahead. Everton probably carry the greater striking threat. Saha is more of a potential match-winner than Ngog but it inevitably will probably be neither. Hard to see past a draw.

How the hell did Ngog miss that? Unreal!

Horrible miss. He's barely even close to the standard required.

Team to play Bolton: Reina, Carragher, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Insua, Mascherano, Aquilani, Kuyt, Gerrard, Riera, Ngog
(Subs: Bench: Cavalieri, Agger, Maxi, Babel, Lucas, Darby, Pacheco.)

I'm in shock... no Lucas. Surely Rafa is only resting him.

It boils down to too many players not being good enough, and after having been in the job now for 5 years this surely reflects poorly on Benitez. He is living off that CL in 2005, and prob wouldn't be at Anfield now had he not won that trophy.

His methods are not what Liverpool require at this point. He has ingrained-ideas regarding players/selections/tactics that are not conducive to LFC competing solidly for the prem title. In the past, these tactics have worked fine in Europe, but when teams have tied up Gerrard, and now with Alonso gone, they will struggle in the Champions League also, as we've seen the past couple of games.

Liverpool have got to the point now where they're having to play Ngog as the main striker for the whole 90 mins in the most important CL group game. He is nowhere near the desired quality. He haplessly poked about last night trying to pick up scraps. He held the ball up well on a couple of occasions, but his touch continuously lets him down, and he hasn't got the strength to lead the line. There are a few championship clubs where he'd struggle to get a start. I think of Arsenal who have Van Persie, Arsahvin, Bendtner and Eduardo, not to mention Vela and Wiltshire. Players with sublime control and finishing qualities.

And then there's Kuyt, who would be the natural replacement up front for Torres, but he's been transformed into some sort of final-third version of Mascherano.

Babel should have been brought on instead of Voronin who constantly tried to play the 'safe' ball, often going backwards. This change should have been made earlier, and Liverpool's most creative player - Benayoun - should not have been taken off. Substitutions should strengthen a team approaching the last few mins of a game, not weaken it.

Yet Liverpool had a good chance to win this game. In the five mins before half-time Lyon were there for the taking, but there was no finisher on the pitch to get that second goal. The lightweight forward division then failed miserably in the second-half to pressurise a makeshift Lyon defence.

Liverpool are now big underdogs to qual from the group, and even a top 4 place in the prem is looking extremely doubtful. It all depends totally on the fitness of Gerrard and Torres, but what's new!

Mickey Harte's praying they don't bring these sanctions into the GAA!

Has anyone seen as well, the invitations where they tell you what day/date to visit their house with gifts?

I'm sure it's a grand wee day out for the family, but it was overkill on the telly. Live satellite link up to the Europa, which rarely worked.  ::)

OTT on Radio Ulster these days as well. Wendy Austin getting very excited!!

It's because they've got fcuk all else to be getting excited about!

I can tell you now Arsenal will not walk this tie and certainly won't win both legs.

Celtic held and could easily have beaten Man Ure at Parkhead last year with barely 11 fit players, between first and reserve teams, and numerous regulars out

imo celtic definitely gave a better account against utd over 2 games than arsenal did in europe last season.

That may be, but it's hardly relevant as far as this tie is concerned.

I would expect Arsenal to comfortably dispose of Celtic - both in terms of technical ability, and on the scoreboard.

Beckham wants out of here in the worst way, he will probably recieve a death threat now and that will be his ticket outta town.

I dont mind him at all but he should never have let the galaxy down to stay on in Italy, big mistake and the fans turned on him because of it.

Yeah, we hardly ever see players getting involved in on-field arguments with fans (bar Cantona maybe), and I think Beckham is doing this deliberately in order to increase uproar etc, so he can say enough is enough and go back to Milan. This is clearly what he wants.

I wouldn't be in favour of trying midfielders at full-back. Whilst they have the physique, it's a totally different way of playing and thinking. It's not to say it wouldn't work, but i think a lot of defensive line-ups esp at county level should be 'horses for courses'. i.e. McCloy woudln't be an automatic starter against Tyrone, but would cope better against the likes of Clarke/Keaney etc.

people may think its daft but i was thinkin last night that fegal doc may be an option in there, perfroming a similar role to that of which mc anallen did for tyrone.

pasty bradley imo is a very under rated midfielder and makes a world of difference to our team. with him and diver in there (as long as he learns to never shoot!!!) we could hold our own with fergal in full back?

Has Patsy ever been tried there?

naw he hasn't not to my knowledge anyway. crozier tried him at wing half back for a spell, it didnt really work out. out of the 3 we have for midfield, fergal is clearly the best footballer and while the other 2 may find it hard to adapt to other positions i reckon doherty could adjust to play full back. in saying that, he had one horrible game when crozier tried him at CHB against tyrone 2 years ago. still, i think his reading of the game and fielding ability may be an option in there, for me we have to try something else, mccloy is just to slow for this level of football

I could be wrong here, but was Patsy not tried at full-back during this year's McKenna Cup? I'm thinking back to the Fermanagh game specifically.

Sunday the 19th July, is to be the day when the 'might' of Tyrone can expect to face a level of competition like none other, on Irish soil.

Maybe he's thinking back to that game in the skydome?

Oisin is still top. Qualifer scores don't count, I think it's only scores in Ulster Championship games that count.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/northern_ireland/the_championship/7329996.stm

How can only Ulster Championship games count for the title of "Ulster's Top Scorer Ever in Championship Football"?

Maybe you're getting confused with the "Top Scorer Ever in the Ulster Championship".

Fair play to Bradley btw for reaching the top of the charts... and hopefully with a few more years to go yet.

He pays Monaghan a high complement - or doesn't rate Kerry, who knows.

Dismay with the draw?   "That was the immediate 10-second feeling"  Cassidy candidly recalls, "but because it was the toughest draw we could have got, that focuses the mind and without that focus you know you're going to lose."
Most managers let on that they've got the toughest draw, whether they mean it or not. There's a lot of bluff involved.

Either that... or maybe... Derry couldn't have drawn Kerry!
