on a sunday morning you will get from ros to Dublin in around 90 minutes, 20 minutes from Roscommon to athlone, and an hour on the motorway to Liffey valley roundabout

Revenge on the menu for Armagh. Meath for the winner in the next round as kildare who should beat Clare can't face them again or maybe Meath can pull off the shock of the summer.

Nothing stopping Kildare playing Meath again. Monaghan would have played Tyrone again had Armagh won the Ulster semi final

Not true! Teams that have met each other can meet again in rounds 1 & 2 but not 3&4. No idea why the rules were made that way. Winner will play meath bar a Clare upset.

you are correct JP, meath and Kildare cannot meet in round 4. So if Kildare were to beat clare, and Dublin beat meath, then meath will play the winners of ros Armagh. This happened with Pot A this morning, there was no draw as Sligo could not play galway, so they could only play cork.

on basis that tipp and limk couldn't meet in R3, then galway Sligo cannot meet in R4, I think that rule only comes in from round 3.

As far as I recall:

Pot A

Limerick/Laois/Longford/Wicklow  V Sligo/Antrim/Tipp and Wex (or Dub)

Pot B

TY/LH, WH/CN, WD/CW, DN/LM  V Roscommon, Clare, Armagh or Monaghan, Meath or Kildare

Wow! Some difference between Pot A and Pot B on both sides.  Laois are the only team in Division 1 or 2 in Pot A.

Yes there's a massive discrepancy, that continues all the way to the Quarter Finals. If i'm reading it correctly the two teams to emerge from Pot A play the Connacht and munster final losers and the two winners of those matches play the Connacht and munster winners. Mayo Galway Kerry Cork will all be fancying their chances of a last 8 appearance with the possibility of meeting a major power in the last 12 very much reduced. The other side much more of a lottery.

Should be a good crowd at this.
The senior championship debut of the new bus should add a couple of thousand to the gate.

Yeah, really looking forward to this. I wonder where it will park

its expected that there will be a  bus  parked in front of the roscommon full forward line

the total cost of the championship trip to NY for the Connacht counties, based on a travelling party of 50, works out at around 75K to 80k, of which NY/Croke Park/Connacht Council stump up €50k. The county travelling must come up with the balance.

Thanks farandeelin. every man, even the man with the cap from Strokestown, deserves his day in the sun. We dont get too many and as you know we all are always right behind mayo as ye traverse the N5 on the way to Croker

madness putting it in Tuam. With Sligo/Leitrim/Roscommon reasonably well represented, this game would have drawn a reasonable crowd in Carrick or Sligo and either place would have been much closer to Ulster. Longford or Cavan would have been other options. Do they put any thought into fixing these games?

I brought home the bank of Ireland sign from the hyde after the 2001 Connacht final - not sure why.

DCU beat Dublin  3-8 to 0-16

Roscommon unbeaten in all competitions thus far. If Dublin can't stop us, who can?

Roscommon had one player starting for DCU today. I don't see what point your trying to make?

I still think compared to previous years in FBD we had plenty of players available - the reality is that there is always be a handful of injuries to carry. Did Conor Daly not play for U21 yesterday rather than for DCU? I thought the DCU starters were Caff, Compton and Fintan Kelly coming on.

FT

Galway 3-10 Sligo 0-8

Decent game given the conditions and time of year. James Kavanagh got man of the match. Only scored 0-1 but did play very well in general play setting up others. Eoin Concannon must have been close to it as well. Think he scored 2-1 or 2-2. Michael Martin played well in spells. New Galway captain Paul Conroy continued his impressive form from last year. Frizzel kicked some nice frees for Sligo.

Nice to see, probably under-rated outside Kildare but superb on his day. No doubt will lose the robot tag now that he has found the natural footballer inside himself.

Now he'll just lose his heart. He's living in a real life Wizard of Oz sketch.

We had very few players available and were level with ITS about ten times in the match. 1-14 against what is a decent side in these conditions wasn't bad but the main this was we didn't suffer any major injuries and we got a good work-out.

Do worry about players doing double duty so early in the year with so many games to come - Conor Daly started for the U21s and the seniors this weekend.

Don't know how you make that out, we had 10 championship starters from last summer playing today.
