GAA Discussion / Re: NFL Kerry V Donegal
January 28, 2009, 02:03:19 AM
kerry will be useing the league for checking out the younger lads, little training and little interest in league, id expect sunday to be 50/50 we will lose in derry and tyone but will finish the campaign with enough wins to stay in div 1.  to be honest donegal should be well able to win sunday but the only reason i have doubts is last years game also in 1st rd when we expected kerry to lose by a wide margin in donegal, however a dismal donegal almost allowed us get a draw only for a last minute og ! either way sunday will count for nothing in august.

the GAA is still relevant for sure, great games and super pastime and plenty still love it. i know this is mainly a northern populated site and its interesting to read the different views on various treads  here , from my own (and indeed all my others kerry pals) the whole nationalism thing has never been a factor in the 40 years i have followed GAA/ not sure if thats good or bad but its just fact,it has always been a case of playing/supporting my club, and having a few days out with kerry .
friendship, crack, meeting new pals, shedding a odd tear in both victory/defeat,many a wild weekend, and god knows how many pints of porter, has been the story of most of the lads/lassies i know who follow our games. long may we run with it.

laursen is big blow , expect a defender to sign b4 window closes, heskey is a good signing and he will fit into this villa side very well.
tricky tie tmorr id say  but portsmouth and wigan next week far more important/

its all  good news for kerry along with tommy walshe confirming what we new anyway that he has no interest in going down under.

the brillent french team of early to mid 80's were involved in a host of crackers, v portugal in euro s/f '84, v brasil in w/c in 86 and of course the night that nobody over 40 will ever forget v west germany w/c 82,the game that had everything except the right result . a truely great team .

General discussion / Re: Any Joy Division Fans?
January 19, 2009, 09:28:47 PM
one of my fav bands, remember well when curtis died , love will tear us apart was truely brillent single, but it was the two albums unknown pleasure and closer
that really  made them so popular back in those school days.  for me closer is the better and one of my all time fav albums. if you are not yet a fan then last years best of joy division album is well worth getting, brillent stuff.

phew !!!!  very lucky but we will take it, brillent 3 points, wba and sunderland next up, 6 points there would be deadly.

GAA Discussion / Re: Footballer of the decade?
December 24, 2008, 11:39:35 AM
so many great players but really it would be hard to argue against darragh, he has been there for every year of this decade and rarely had a off day, ive proberly attended all but 2/3 of the champ games he has played for kerry and he has been our main man in most of them.
outside of kerry i would think p.joyce would be my  choice as best this decade.

any views on who we might sign in jan ?  a striker seems certain and going by rumour heskey is very likely, bellamy is also
strongly linked and west ham need to sell.  portsmouth also need dosh and couch or defoe could be sold, either would be decent
for villa. macgeedy's days at celtic seem to be running out and o neill could make a move .

great win, the head is sore today but what the heck, these are great days for all villans.
dont agree with you doogie about wanting liverpool to win, i would prefer a arsenal victory today, would leave  us 4 off the top, roll on friday
for massive game with the gunners.

General discussion / Re: UEFA Cup draw
December 19, 2008, 11:53:58 PM
bad draw for us, cska are good  and oh so far away, and even if we win we have the very good shaktar then, not looking good ,however 3 points v the hammers is far more important in a huge week for the villa, cmon lads.
