Kildare have been doing very good work at underage level (a fair sprinkling of traitor Dubs helping them out too  ;D ), and they have some really classy players coming through. So by 2020 I've no doubt they'll be competitive with the Dubs, maybe even as soon as 2018.
........
We do have talent coming through, but arguable whether it's any better than what Kildare have coming through.

Fair smattering of Kildare & Meath-based players also togging out for the Dubs, which is a shambles given their player resources....the Eadestown-based Mighty Quinn spotted in the stands cheering on his young lad on Saturday...young Deegan from Ashbourne also adorned in blue.

Shouldn't be allowed, at least at underage level.

....was wondering if there were published guidelines on this, but google yielded the answer pretty quickly.
http://www.laoissports.ie/docs/Sport%20for%20All.pdf

there's a kid on our squad - U11, that displays many symptoms, but we've never been approached by the parents, and it's not easy to be the one to reach out....will have a look at this and digest it for training.

i had questioned whether there was a whole lot of benefit in him persisting, given he's so far off the pace, but he scored a goal last year in a game, and the reaction afterwards gave me my answer!

thanks for the post OP

Actually where would we be this season by this ranking. Would kildares win over Laois have been enough to rescue our season? At the expense of Laois perhaps?

... Also think that the provincial championships winner gets a place in the top 16... To allow for your Clare or sligo&aqs outliers.. In practice, this should not be an issue as it's rare enough a team from outside the effective top 16 win one, only arises every 5 years or so in Connacht.. Every 10 years elsewhere...

I'd agree about the weaker counties bit, so have a second tier championship, finalists get a top tier place the following year

..too lazy to type everything I love about this proposal, but suffice to say I think it's brilliant. Highlights are a) upholds relevance of the provincial championships. It actually enhances them. B) makes the league more relevant c) frees up some good weather months for the club championship.

Get this formally submitted please...ive thought about little else since I read it last night  :o

Is there any TV coverage of this?

GAA Discussion / Croker in the rain
August 03, 2014, 11:25:39 AM
Had tickets for the lower Cusack yest - 25 rows back but directly in the deluge anyway.... Actually snaffled some sheltered seating for the second game, so didn't get completely soaked.

Anyway, it does strike me as somewhat cruel to leave paying punters sitting in the passing rain, when there were 20,000 perfectly covered seats in the upper tier that could have been opened at only the cost of a couple of extra stewards..

I think this is particularly relevant for double headers.. Nobody sitting further forward stayed for both games, as they were sodden after 15 mins.

... Appreciate it might look poor on the telly if the pitch side seats are empty, but they were for the most part anyway, and whatabout looking after your customers first....

*If either/both Meath or Monaghan win their Rd 4b games, there will not require to be a quarter final draw as Donegal cannot meet Monaghan again at this stage and Dublin cannot meet Meath. If neither win, there will be a draw to determine which of the Rd 4b winners (Armagh, Kildare) play which of the Provincial Champions in the All Ireland Quarter Finals..... From gah website.

Lillies to cheer for mcgeeneys Armagh then...revenge on the donegalmen for 2010...

Hurling Discussion / Ticket for Sunday
September 29, 2012, 01:31:09 PM
I'd really appreciate getting ticket for Sunday if anyone had a spare. Would be heartbroken to miss out next Sunday having come so close the last time.

Thanks for a pm if you've any prospects...I'll travel up on spec anyway on Sunday, so it's never have too late to call.

I doubt it. Kildare's forward line is not as bad as people make out.

Acid test Sunday, of course, but I'd be more worried about our midfield.

yes but am I the only one disappointed at not seeing more of young fogarty... I thought he'd done enough to play himself into contention to be honest but he has hardly had a look in.
