Quote from: weareros on February 19, 2024, 07:46:36 PMThe problem is if you are a manager that tends to say what's on your mind like Davy Burke, your comments will be a section on the podcasts as the 65 training sessions was on Parkinson's Smaller Fish and the RTE one above. The difference is at least Eamon Fitzmaurice knew that was normal if 3 + 2 gym sessions a week since early Nov whereas Wooly was as usual like the immature little child.

Davy however would be better off becoming a bit more like Jack O'Connor or Dessie Farrell and offer a few meaningless soundbytes, and also be a little less available to the media. Offering his level of detail is an unnecessary distraction to the team.

I'm sure Farrell is a good fella but interviewing him is a waste of everyone's time

Quote from: tbrick18 on February 18, 2024, 04:53:11 PMDerry were impressive last night, the attacking play was top drawer at stages with attacks in waves and 2 me  running off the shoulder.
That's the first time I've seen a change in style of play, last year we'd run to the corners and then play it back out and across until we got a shooter in a good position.  Last night was much more dynamic and our half back line was immense.
I thought Murray played well, not sure why he was taken  off but Toner did well when introduced too.
Gilmore was very good when he came on.
Mcfaul at an excellent first half.
Glass and Rogers on top for the entire game too.
Mckaigue is a liability.  The amount of needless fouls and the mouthing. He's a red card waiting to happen  and he's not the marker he was. I feel at full strength he's on the bench with mcevoy in there.
We are looking like we have a strong panel now with most positions covered, apart maybe from whb.

Scullion looked more comfortable last night also easing any doubts I had of him after the appearance against Tyrone, but Lynch was out warming up which is hopefully a sign he won't be out for very long

Yes he looked like he's stepping up alright.
But...he wasn't under any real pressure in that game. I don't think he had a single shot to stop.
But kickouts were good, positioning was good, seems very mobile too. I hope he gets another game or two, even if Lynch is recovered. It will protect Lynch, improve Scullion and let the other players get used to playing with him.
Baker really growing into it too, a very assured performance. Hard to fault anyone really on that game.
I was surprised Niall O was playing tbh, after the Sigerson mid week. He's bound to have been on the beer after it. But no shortage of work rate from him all the same.

Unreal work rate anytime Loughlin plays, you need these boys in any successful team

Tyrone poor again. If Mayo turn them over next week I'd say the game v Monaghan in Round 6 will sort out the relegation picture.

Quote from: bennydorano on February 16, 2024, 03:08:55 PMKildare getting read up all week, they will be chomping at the bit for Armagh now.Get the money on a draw 9/1. Armagh a ridiculous 2/9, 4/1 Kildare.

Good to see Conaty & McConville starting for Armagh, shows a bit of intent.

Took Kildare +5 last night purely on the back of this - bound to be a reaction of some sort. Obviously can see Armagh blowing them away but it seemed a big spread for a team getting dragged through the coals all week that clearly still have talent within their ranks

I knew things were bad in Kildare but my God. I'll not do that again

Getting on the merry go round early I'd say. Is Gareth McKinless not meant to be involved with Moortown, how would there be enough hours in the day.

Quote from: Onthe40 on February 12, 2024, 10:22:41 AMDecent game, Omagh always looked as if they were in control despite the goal chances Dungannon had which should've been taken and could've very much changed the outcome
Dungannon scoring threat was bit limited up front
Though you'd have to think their in with a big shout in the next few years with the good rannafast Squad coming through and the strong 4th year squad below that

though that is no guarantee as it was interesting to hear that particular Omagh year group won nothing the whole way through their school journey until now

Omagh though could begin to dominate now with the catchment area they have  and a non academic path into the school available.. Dungannon, Cookstown, Donaghmore now pulling from same area and ballygawley pulling in lads too that maybe previously went to dungannon

Overall though the tyrone schools are getting better

Is this true? Jesus, the catchment area is already giant without that being the case. I think St Pat's Maghera is the same though not 100%. They obviously have St Mary's to compete with at least, Omagh have free reign from Greencastle to Trillick

Omagh's best player is an Omagh man. Callum Daly at Centre Half Back is their best player followed by Ruairi McCullagh, Charlie Donnelly, Eoin Donaghy and Nathan Farry, strong argument could be made that he was also their best player last year. McElholm certainly had the biggest reputation last year but their were a number of players who outperformed him over the course of the season - Owens, Daly, McCullagh, Donnelly, Donaghy, Farry all had better campaigns.

Yeah it looks like Ruairi McCullagh from where I'm sitting

It's all flashes of quality here and there with Cork and absolutely no consistency. Hard to see them having enough to finish above Limerick, Clare, Tipp in Munster. And we know how that will go down for the 2nd year in a row with the public down there

Quote from: Tony Baloney on February 10, 2024, 05:58:11 PMIs Glass doing a bona fide degree or is he another perennial student like Jim McGuinness who had more degrees than a compass.

Probably legit enough degree if he couldn't go to university after school due to playing Aussie rules. Sure Niall Loughlin is about 28 but he also done a few years in Australia before hand
