Will there be 2 threads? One for trash talk and one for the build up to the game?

Stew
We are not getting tanked
We will be fine.
For me I think we are winning this.

I can see why they are favourites. They did better than us at a higher level than us. But there is no head to head and I wouldn't read anything into games against Dublin. Genuinely think we have the players to compete. Tankings either should not and will not be on the cards

I believe Armagh are very rough this year.

Define rough?

As I predicted it looks like Feely will have his ban overturned. He can appeal any of his three black cards this year and knowing the GAA appeals process, it's hard not to see him succeed.

Why is it likely that he will get the ban overturned?

He clearly stepped into the space of ongoing player. Classic black card. The degree of contact is relevant only to how good he is to taking out a runner. It's not relevant as to whether taking a player out is a black card

It's the GAA, bans regularly stick no matter how appropriate they are. Throw in the fact there are 3 cards they can appeal, it will be overturned, deserved or not deserved.

On that basis all cards would be appealed and overturned

Seemingly the Cork one is the one they expect to be rescinded.

Fair enough. I don't recall that one. Is there no time limit on these appeals?

Looking forward to the match, never been to Thurles before and should be a good game. Armagh will go into this game knowing they had the measure of Tipp before and Tipp will go in knowing the beat us playing poorly.
I still believe Armagh play better away from home and will prob have the siege mentality here, match will be nip and tuck and again like last week I'm going for a 2-3 pt win for the men in Orange.

What siege?

Mickey Harte says the mark has nothing to do with the longer kickouts. . . we may delete the thread so!!

I thought it wouldn't improve things unless it was a forced kickout past the 45 but I'm glad to be proved wrong I think it's a great introduction and hasn't slowed the game down in the slightest bit!

Mickey acting the mick there.

Wouldn't want to be giving Jarlath and his cohorts any encouragement to look at any further rule changes

I fancy WH for this one.

Home crowd, tight pitch, smarting after Dublin so nothing to lose.

I think their drubbing against Dublin won't be a huge factor as the players themselves decided to give it a lash and see what happens. If they'd went hammer and tongs to stay as close to Dublin as possible with a specific defensive system then, yeah, a 30 point stuffing would be catastrophic. However, their mindset going in and the two week break leave them a dangerous prospect when added to the factors above.

Would agree with that. I don't see the drubbing they got as being relevant. They knew the risk they were taking, that they would lose and that they would end up here.

Armagh should win. We have the better player even if Westmeath have a few stars.

Some lads love nothing more than complaining. I'm looking forward to it.

The actual fight?

Wait till the hype train gets going.  They'll be falling over themselves to get tickets and pay the PPV rate. Some people will rightly moan about it being a non contest etc but far more will pay to see the freak show.

Look, at the end of the day it's still boxing and anything can happen.

All broadcasters bar the host is likely to lampoon the circus from beginning to end . The hype will be in that context
But they'll have a strong boxing undercard to give it some respectability.

Floyd will have a few of his boxers, and at least one of them will be for a world title. And Mick Conlan and Paddy Barnes will be hoping to get places on the early undercard. Maybe KatieT too.

Maybe get A Song For Europe and the ploughing championships in there too
Nah it'll be a quality undercard. Gervonta Davis, one of the most exciting young boxers around. I'd say we'll see him defending his title.
Hard to know what kind of input McGregor will have, but it would be good to have some Irish talent in the early bouts

Sounds like the main event is a marketing ploy for the undercard

Wouldn't be at all be surprised if there is a strong reaction to this. People will see it for what it is . Retired boxer boxes non boxer in a lazy effort to get you to give them a big pay day. Anybody who pays for this is probably still peeved at the money they sent to Nigeria.

Any truth in the rumour that the undercard is an elephant on a tricycle?
