Just home from the game in Carrick on Shannon
first fifteen minutes of each half Laois showed some improvement from Last week, they were much more direct and played with a purpose. Could have and should have been out of sight before half time and went in 5 points up after the first half, leitrim missed a penalty(saved by Briody) so we could have been only 2 points up.
Ehe second halv for fifteen to twenty minutes we took complete control of the game and at the same time missed at least 4 very score-able goal chances, and had a lead of 14 points at one stage, then we invited Leitrim back into the game Briody made one of his trips up the field and ended up beside the Leitrim goalkeeper. Leitrim broke and senced a chance and punished Laois with a goal after that Leitrim out scored Laois 3 goals and 3 points to 4 points, Laois looked in a lot of trouble when Leitrim run at them.
Full back line Fennell showed well and Nurney at times the half back line were all at sea at times Midfield J.O'L. held his own and the pitch did not suit the running from O'Reilly (he will undoubtably have many better Days. The two wing forwards could have contributed more they lost a lot of good Poscession. Paul Kingston overall had a good game. Walsh and O'Carroll both had good games and when Munnelly was introduced he created a lot of space which Laois should have made more on the score board from. Good experience for the younger Players but when Laois have a team on the rack they need to be more ruthless and drive on. The management possibly Learnt more about the team than the did in the whole game against Limerick and the first 45 minutes against Leitrim. another two points on the board with an away win so we can look forward to next week. Well done to all and it is great to see such hard work been done by all to the cause.

good result.
the most pleasing aspect was the way all of the laois players tackled and harassed the
Limerick players when they had possession. full back line were not really tested but to a man they did what they had to do. O'Reilly at midfield has some pace and will improve as the year goes on.looking  forward to the next few rounds and to see how the squad progress and develop.

fair play to the management team for selecting so many new players, I think this is a correct and brave selection. Win or not on Saturday night we should all get behind this team and current setup and hopefully a new team and a new era for Laois football will emerge. we do not expect miracles, from such a new team but we do hope to see progress as the league campaign goes on and hope to get promotion if not this year certainly next season.
best of luck to all involved and thank you for your commitment to the county.

At the opposite end of the spectrum to that clown of a principal in Castletown

18 Pupils

2 teachers

A first class goalie in every sense of the word

Just goes to show what can be achieved with good people in charge

what a wonderful story well done to all involved. this win was achieved by hard work and dedication. reading the story of the school and all involved would lift anyone's heart. an achievement that will never be forgot by all the students, parents, staff and mentors to me that is the true spirit of  cumann-na-mbunscol a very positive achievement after all the negatives from Castletown N.S.

Castletown were completely wrong and the principal of the school who was also chairperson knew what she done was deceitful and displayed a complete disrespect for the children of her School and the opposing school. as a result of this she put her hands up and resigned in embarrassment.
How can she look at a cup in the school for the next year knowing it was won by cheating under her instruction is beggars belief. All of her Students know this, so the wright thing to do is hand back the cup and close the issue.
lets hope it is a lesson learned, keeping the cup is telling the school kids that it all right to cheat and win at all cost is more important than honesty.

This is an absolute disgrace. How can the principal of Castletown school stoop so low
bringing both the school and local club into such deceitful behavior, shame on all involved. The parents and local club should do the right thing and demand that this is rectified.  Why should the people of Castletown have their good name and reputation dragged trough the mud by the low sneaky carry on of the School principal and chairperson of CNBS.
SHAME ON ALL INVOLVED.

I Can list many more conceded fixtures, What SNIDE remark can you attribute to a never ending list?.
Hurlers on the ditch with throw away remarks are not helpful in any situation.

Clonaslee a once proud and disciplined club are now nothing more than a shambles and an absolute disgrace. Loud mouthed ill disciplined thugs that know nothing about sport and the value that it can bring to a community. their are plenty of decent people in clonaslee that have walked away from the club over the last number of years because of a few ignorant uncontrollable yobs. The CB have dished out all sorts of fines, home match bans etc to Clonaslee club but all to no avail.
Clonaslee as a club have not taken any action by way of suspending certain individuals and as a result they are the most detested ill disciplined Club in the county. What a pity to see a once proud and valued sporting club that offered so much to its own members and to the county now in such a situation.

I agree with most of your post rover, except "once proud & disciplined" club. This s**t is going on for as long as I can remember (i.e. 30+ yrs). Like fathers/like sons bans have been handed down, even lifetime sideline bans for some folk, and they continue to act the b****x year in, year out. This is totally coming from the top down in the club, not all at the top, but the majority, in creating the mindset of what is and isn't acceptable. At an U-8 game last year, I seen a clonaslee chap throw a hurl at an opponent when he was running after him and couldn't catch him, this was met with a chorus of laughter and cheers by the usual suspects watching on the sideline. I will add the ref was their own John Rowney, who pulled the player aside and warned him not to do this again, but they haven't enough guys up there that think like John. Most coaches would reprimand a chap for this, not encourage it, most parents if their child did it at 8 years, would give the kid a boot in the hole, put them in the car, and take them home.
The regularity of this stuff up there is ridiculous. All clubs can have a crazy incident/game up and down where things go wild, but every year clonaslee seem to have loads, almost exclusively in hurling, where they can swing wildly at lads heads with the hurl, the bare fisted combat doesnt appeal to the tough guys who knock lads out with hurls from behind.

It's a f**king disgrace.

I can only speak from my own experience, The reason I said a once proud and disciplined Club was because I did hurl against Clonaslee during the 1980's and 1990's we always found them tough and hard as were most clubs that were in contention for a senior title at the time, they were no worst or better than any other club at that time and always had a number of players playing for county teams at all grades.Looking back I would actually say that  Players from Clonaslee at that time such as Phil Dillon, Paddy and Fran Bates, Tom Flynn, John O'Keeffe R.I.P. Gerry Culliton R.I.P., and many more that I can not remember all their names were gentlemen of the game and I certainly would have held their players and mentors at that time as true lovers of the game. What a pity the Club has now gone to such an all time low.
I will repeat what I already stated a lot of these men of that time have walked away from the Club because of the current standards accepted by club officers, mentors and players.

The only way the Club can mend its ways is internally, the club officers should dish out suspensions instead of protecting them. if suspensions mean that they fail to field teams so be it. Better not field a team than continue in the same manor.

I See Clonaslee Thugs are at it again.
U16 hurling v  Rosenallis, player assaulted and now gone to Hospital by ambulance.
Numerous players from Clonaslee attacked him with hurls. How can the Co. Board tolerate this Club time after time this same club resort to the cowardly act of assaulting opponents and get away with it.

Why on earth do so many people blame management, C.B., referees etc?
the simple fact is with the exception of D.K. we have a bunch of players that probably give their best and invest a lot of their time training etc. we should ask one simple Question how many players do we have that would make the starting 15 on the Dublin, Meath, Kildare, Cork, Kerry, Mayo, Doneygal teams I could list off at least another 10 counties. Not one of our defenders or Midfielders would get a look in.
D.K. is the only footballer that would be considered. Stop the blame game and face the facts

Poor discipline, some players very very overrated, We will need to perform a lot better in the league next season if we have any ambition of getting promotion from Division 4.
I have never seen a poorer Laois team. Midfield out of their debt, defenders unable to tackle, opposing teams just walk trough them.
