Very disappointed for Portlaoise yesterday, a few bad mistakes cost them. Leinster was wide open and there for the taking with Vincents gone. Hard to call a winner in it now!

Wow, only kind of dawns on you the standard in division 4 when you see the fixtures laid out like that!

Arles Kilcruise  v Mountmellick Gaels (Arles)

19:45
Graiguecullen v St Joseph's (Graigue

Portlaoise v O'Dempseys (Portlaoise)

18:00
Portarlington v Arles/Killeen (Kileen)

19:30
Ballylinan v Killeshin (Ballylinan)

I'd find it hard to disagree with any of those predictions

Second that

+1 Can't see any surprises, well Port beating Killeen wouldn't be much of a surprise but think Killeen will win.

Banty is just a gun for hire at this stage. No good to Laois!

Unlikely, he left Wexford because of a 2 hr 15m drive without traffic, to get to Portloaise is about 1hr 55m drive, doubt he is ditching Wexford over 20 minutes

I wouldn't believe that as a reason, Eamon Kelly left Offaly because of work commitments, a couple of months later he was Laois manager. I wouldn't want Banty but it's just one I wouldn't be surprised with.

The Heath v Killeshin -> Very hard to call but will go with Killeshin
O'Dempsey's v Crettyard Gaels -> O'Dempseys are better than they showed v Portlaoise, should win here
St Joseph's v Ballyfin Gaels -> Josephs will be too strong for Ballyfin
Ballyroan-Abbey v Arles-Killeen -> Killeen to have too much firepower

Clonaslee-St Manman's Gaels v Mountmellick Gaels -> Mountmellick to just edge this one.
Stradbally v Arles-Kilcruise -> Draw

Colm ORourke made some good points last night on the bigger picture.

Joe canning article was a good read too  ..

There has to be a tiered championship

Would take a while to bed in but we would wonder then why it wasnt always there.

Local man for the laois jod and a ten year plan to try and make us competitive again ..

Yep, but in a tiered championship we are probably in the lowest tier right now!

In county equivalent
Junior B

Ideal, lads be expected to have a few pints before a game then!  ;)

A big worry with this Laois team is the lack of leaders, considering the age profile and the number of championship appearances on the field you would expect a few but there was not. With about 15 minutes to go Timmons shouts up the field "Will ye stop feeling sorry for yourselves".. That's what it looked like, there was very little drive or fight in the team. Resigned to defeat when something could have been salvaged, much like Wicklow nearly did against us! I think you are harsh on McMahon High Fielder, I thought he was the best of the backs, not outstanding by any means but certainly deserves less criticism than most! Hard to know where to go from here, but Laois are certainly not a division 2 team.

So the football is at 3 in Portlaoise and the hurling is at 7 in Parnell Park. Makes it very difficult for anyone who wants to make both. Not sure what number of people would be going to both but still think it's unfair to make people decide which they would prefer to go to! Any more casual supporters are definitely more likely to see the football purely for handiness sake!

Are many travelling Saturday? Morale seems to be pretty low among supporters, would a win against Wicklow lift it any bit even? As an earlier poster said it's a no win situation really, lose - "we are completely useless", win - "If they couldn't beat Wicklow they might as well forget about it". I hope they win, although it's delaying the inevitable, that is the case for the majority of teams. You would expect to see some changes from the last day, there probably isn't going to much change in term of personnel but you would hope to see changes in approach. My biggest worry is how management react to the how the game is playing out, I feel they are so slow to react when the opposition are getting a run on us or whatever our approach is, isn't working.

Extremely bad form from whatever decision makers in Castletown did this. Considering how important playing team sports is in a child's formative years it really gives the wrong impression to both sets of students. Most likely nothing will come of this but it is a pity that this situation has arisen because of an adults selfishness.

Disappointed yesterday after a good start, conceding the goal after we scored 3 points was an early blow. I felt the most obvious theme of the game yesterday was the Wexford backs winning most of the 50/50, 60/40 battles for possession. You couldn't fault the lads effort but it looked like Wexford were never in too much trouble after getting the lead. Anyone know when the draw is on?

Is Ben Conroy injured?

Yeah, think he is getting surgery on his shoulder which will put him out for the year i'm afraid.

Good win last night, few standouts but thought it was a very good team performance. The sending off didn't have a major impact on the game fortunately. I thought the full back line were very solid, but greater challenges lie ahead! I wouldn't be very confident in the goalie coming out like he did on a few occasions, he didn't look very comfortable, he might have been watching Brody a bit too much!

Looking forward to the Offaly game and a similar performance from Laois!
