The championship starts from here, knockout football from here on. Predicting Graigue to have it very handy over Courtwoof +6 pts, Portlaoise to win it comfortably vs CSM +8pts, Port to get the job done vs Ballyroan... ballyroan very very defensive and might be better served by being more attack minded with the talent that's available. O Dempsey's favourites vs St Josephs on the back of a brilliant losing performance vs Port... and giving them the label if dark horse to win the championship this year.

Are there two versions of this out there? 'If the county board came to my door I wouldn't give them a fuckin fiver' ... 'X hasn't got a fuckin scoobydoo'... 'X didn't even fuckin know Derek Mcgrath, had to be tipped on the shoulder to stop calling him Ken McGrath'.... 'they got Derek McGrath for free and almost fucked that up too, very nearly messed it up completely in March'. Might not be exactly 100% word for word but it's very close if it's not. If I was on the receiving end of it I'd be fairly certain I got a slating 😂

There's no way that conversation was intended for the public domain. He even started the conversation by saying 'obviously, this is off the record'. With that said, he shouldn't have pulled the footballers and Quirke into it. His position is untenable now, not a hope he can stay after slating left, right and centre around him. Not too much wrong with what he said, but he's left it in a way that himself and the county board couldn't possibly work together again. And that's a great shame.. you really felt the hurlers could do something big if they'd complete but in from everyone

Can see this being nothing else but a high-scoring shootout with Evan O Carroll in serious form at the minute for Crettyard, and Clonaslee have the forwards to punish Crettyard too, especially With Niall Corbett in good form also. Both teams seem well capable of grabbing a couple of goals, and Crettyard missing a couple of key defenders thru injury. I'll sit firmly on the fence and go for a draw Crettyard 3-11 Clonaslee 2-14.

Would Jason Ryan be a good option?

Thought the match last Sunday was desperate stuff but what else could we do? CRlow shouldn't be allowed into Croke Park for the next twenty years. Septic football on their behalf and two things stood out... the diving of Jordan Morrissey going into contact and also the in sportsmanship of the Carlow no:4.... he was screaming for cards off the ref every single time he went into a tackle with a Laois player. Turn your stomach. Absolutely love what Brody gives us in open play...think he really lifts the crowd with his forays forward and should be encouraged to keep this up... was very impressed how he slotted into full back during a Carlow attack and directed Timmons to stay put in goal... very confident stuff and I think it gives the team and supporters a boost. Thought JOL had a monster game at midfield and was delighted for Evan Carroll too.. tough circumstances and tough week for him. Last two points... we should look at damage limitation in the Leinster final, definitely go for it not like Carlow did, keep it respectable and enjoy the occasion. Who would have thought we'd be here at the start of this year? And finally, great chance to meet all the lads in OMP tomorrow evening... it's Slways a great night out and usually not supported too well. Put on the jersey, throw the kids in the car and go in and show our appreciation of these lads. They deserve it.

I'd expect ODempseys to win easily, 8 -10pts
Josephs to just about get over the line by 3 or 4 pts, injuries still a big problem.
Killeshin to beat The Heath by 4 or 5pts
Kilcruise to beat Strad in a tight game
Killeen to win with a bit to spare
Mountmellick to account for CSM

One or two lads, a few pints here and there. Not the whole panel, not fifteen pints, not every night! Normal behaviour for a young lad, maybe not so normal for intercounty athletes.

The drinking went on alright lads. I've a healthy enough social life and enjoy a few pints and would have regularly had a few pints with a couple of the lads. That'll blow fuses with some posters here but what people seem to forget is we're talking about young lads in the prime of life here.... I think county jerseys all over the country don't mean as much anymore, there's no big carrot dangling in front of most counties now. It's kinda hard get too excited about Laois football for the past ten years and I think that could have permeated into some players minds too. I reckon a lot of lads around the country might feel they can mix both now... A bit of a life and play county. Personally, I don't know why these lads bother commit?

Jesus lads not a hope anyone on an anonymous forum should be publicly naming an amateur sportsman for anything. Or.....put your own name beside the players name if you really feel the need.

Pretty poor stuff alright. Thought both teams were very defensive, very hard look at a team filtering everyone back with almost no-one looking or interested in the opposition bringing out a turned over ball, as in, just get into your position irrespective of where or who has the ball. Us being down to 14 men after ten mins was the real killer, not the missed penalty. We've all seen penalties missed by the very best at the highest of levels, don't see what the shock and horror is about Brian Daly taking and missing this one.... He kicked a sweet free off the ground from out on the sideline at the end of the first half...and no-one horrified he took that?? Overall josephs have really felt the miss of the 5 or 6 summer tourists, not just last night but for the past 3 or 4 games. Disappointing game and result, good crowd present though.

Josephs won 1-12 to 11pts, pretty much level all the way thru after josephs went 3pts to nil up in the first 5 mins. Ciaran Ramsbottom goaled with the last kick of the game leaving a slightly unfair look to the score board from an Emo perspective.

That was a sickening abysmal performance. If you leave the management to one side for a minute and actually think back to some of the decisions the players made on the ball....wing back with a free kick in the second half, he turned back to pass it, turned forward, turned back again, then literally shrugged his shoulders and drove the ball out over the far sideline in frustration...brian daly making a great drive along the line under the stand to get to the end line and then try hook a ball over his shoulder from an impossible angle... Sean Moore losing a great ball that was at least 80/20 in his favour and Offaly going up the field from it and killing us with a goal...the pick of the bunch was our free on our 21 under the stand, where was it passed to? It was kicked 80 yards across and backwards to the tunnel corner flag where Cooney in goals had to tear after it to keep it from going out for a 45... It was diabolical stuff. Game should have been wrapped up after 20 mins. Kicked 9 wides after going 1-02 up..even half up them converted would have finished Offaly off. And lads...give up the bullshite with the Beano comparisons....enough said.

Laois / Re: Who would want to be Laois manager?
September 30, 2015, 11:11:00 PM
Might be a crazy comment to someone like you Tony who seems to have a total over-reaction to pretty much every comment posted here. Jason Ryan had a poor run with Kildare, doesn't mean he's a poor manager...his record would say differently. And I still think he'd be a good option for us taking into account where we are. Look, Mick Lillis is appointed and more power to the man....we'll see what the league panel shapes up like, who has came back that wouldn't commit last year and also which longer serving players stay on for another go. That'll say a lot about our manager.
