Perhaps Cluxton will now take an interest.

Hi Armagh
I hope he dose and he's more than welcome, but I'm not sure if it would suit his style of free taking. Don't get me wrong he is an incredible free taker from distance but id like see if the closer in shots at more acute angles suits his particular style.
I suppose there is only one way to find out and that is to get him registered so if you can get me his number I'll give him a call  :D

Are the profits from this competition going to the Young Irelanders or does the individual running this get a cut?

Hi Sludden

Brian Sheehan is the best free taker I have ever seen (over the last 30-35 years). Phenomenal striker of a ball from anywhere inside 60 yards and sometimes further out.

hi lenny;

Just to let you, "Bryan Sheehan" has registered for the Cic Saor Championships. So if you would like to watch him test his free taking talent against the likes of Oisin McConville, Paddy Bradley, Cian Ward, Paddy Keenan, Joe Sheridan and many more from throughout Ireland; head for Dundalk next Saturday (8th of September) 9 am start should have the final between 4-5pm ,

"Hope to see you there"

I have been asked a few reoccurring questions about the Cic Saor Championships through our website www.cicsaor.ie

(Q) How long will the event last?

(A) This very much depends on how many entries we have. We can facilitate 500 contestants so time scale is based on this figure. The first contestant will start at 8am, our target is to complete Round (1) by 12 o clock, Round (2) by 2pm, Round (3) by 4pm, Round (4) by 6pm, Round (5) is the semi final and round (6) is the final, these two rounds should not take more than 1 hour to complete so this would mean the competition should finish up somewhere between 7-8 pm. I would say that this is most likely worst case scenario; we could very easily have our winner well before 6pm.

(Q) How many chances do I get for my entry Fee?

(A) Firstly a dinner voucher will be included with every entry fee. You get two lives to start with; lives can be carried through each round. If you are knocked out in rounds 1, 2, or 3 you have the option to re-enter for a fee of €20. (Note; you can only re-enter the round you have been knocked of and each round has a limit to the amount of re-entries you are allowed) for further details see our rules on www.cicsaor.ie . Lastly; if you make it to the Semi Final without a re-entry you will receive an extra life.

(Q) Can I buy in on the day of the event?

(A) "No" there are many reasons for this. The main one is, to ensure that event is properly organised in relation to officials, facilities, health and safety etc, we would need to know accurate numbers a week before the event takes place, which is why registration closes on 1st of September. It is important for anyone interested in entering, to do so ASAP.

(Q) What time dose the competition start?

(A) This is a particularly important question. Every entrant will receive a randomly selected "Start Time" and "Pitch Number", beginning at 8am. We would ask every contestant to be at their allotted pitch at least 5Min's before their "Start Time", we will send an information pack by email or text to each contestant four days before the event starts.

(Q) Are Frees taken from the ground or from the hands

(A) Both ways are allowed, you cannot use a kicking tee and drop kicks are not allowed.

If you have any questions about the Cic Saor Championships please don't hesitate to ask at info@cicsaor.ie

Thanks for your replies.

I certainly have my own opinion of who i would give it to but because of my involvement with the cic saor championships i have to abstain from the debate...... i would say they are all incredible players/free takers (there records speaks for themselves).

The fact is no matter who you mention it will only be a matter of opinion, that's why i love the idea of the Cic Saor Championships because it can give us an answer to what must be one of the great unanswered question in GAA "WHO IS THE BEST".

Oisin MccConville must be eager to find out the answer as he has already register.

I'd like to thank Bryan Sheehan for his support of the Cic Saor on twitter.

"To answer a few Questions"

You can kick from the hands or from the ground (kicking tee not allowed) (drop kick not allowed)
Anyone can enter 18 years or older male of female ,past or present
You can only enter the competition on our website www.cicsaor.ie entries close 1st September
All spectators are more than welcome entry fee has yet to be decided
Thankfully we have a fantastic mix of county players and club players already registered ; Oisin McConville(armagh), Paddy Keenan(louth), Derek McGuire(louth), Paddy o Rourke(meath), and Joe Sheridan(meath), are just some of the more notable names taken part. A full list of entrants will be posted about 3 days before the event.

It's important to point out again "this is not just for county player's anyone can enter".

Register "NOW" www.cicsaor.ie

" Lets Find Out "

All Ireland Cic Saor Championships... www.cicsaor.ie

The all Ireland Cic saor Championships is taking place on the 8th of September 2012 in the Dundalk Young Irelands club. Dundalk Young Irelands are considered the oldest existing club in the GAA; we played in the first ever all Ireland final. Unfortunately we find ourselves in a precarious financial position, and are fearful for our clubs future. "As I'm sure you will appreciate" we as club members feel, it is our duty to do everything in our power to insure the future of what must be one of the most historically important clubs in Ireland.
To address this problem we are hosting the first ever all Ireland free taking/point scoring competition. This competition is played out over 6 elimination rounds to determine the best free taker in Ireland. The eventual winner will be crowned a New All Ireland Champion and receive an estimated €10,000 first prize, the total prize fund is estimated at €30.000 and 10% of participants will receive prizes.
All relevant information can be found on www.cicsaor.ie . We would very much appreciate if you could notify all your club members of this event and forward the website address to anyone you think might be interested in entering. Anyone can enter once 18 years old or over, players can take part on there own behalf, or represent there club or sponsor. They can register and pay on the Cic saor website; entries close 1/9/2012. I would like to add that anyone wanting to enter should go online and do so ASAP, as the competition is capped and places will go fast.

Ps; "The Cic Saor Championships is a brand new competition" and should not be confused with other distance based competitions as it is more of an accuracy test.

Kind regards
Cic Saor
