Folks , we went through this with our cub at secondary school, very large all boys school.
It was a very tough time, school were very good with councillors etc and he was referred to CAMH which he hated.
Got through his GCSE's with bare min work. Saw no point in working for subjects that were not practical in nature, rows there.
Started to flourish at A Levels, doing subjects he really liked and very small classes.
Got out to work at 16 summer which was a great help and has been working since.
Is 2nd year in Belfast now and all is good.
This situation puts alot of stress on home life, it took 2 years to get through it but us both had to take it on the chin and nurse him through the situation.
Take all help that is out there and get fully imsered with him/her in their interests out of school.
There is light at the end.

Cahair is the one player in Stown that i think should be looked at and given a s&c programme and who knows what he could develop into in relation to county football in the next year or 2.
He has that extra bit of quality and flair and we are not bleesed with quality inside forwards.

There is no major value in Celtic Park other than a sports ground.

Fear
Most of the rural clubs around Derry have erected lights in the last 20 years or so.
I suggest you have a conversation with them to see what route to take.
It won't be easy but you need to make a start

Very impressed with Glen
Exceptional team and management.
I believe this will be their acid test.
Eunan's will not want a highly rated outfit come into their back yard to to make wee boys of them.
This has the making of a dour show
If Glen come out of Letterkenny I think they will be the team to beat in Ulster
If it Euan's, they head to Monaghan, a completely different show.

Is Elisha not part of the SF establishment being a neice of Martina A.
She was/is a serious liability and was the best asset for Eastwood in the last election.
Bid statement from Mary Lou, it will be intresting to see if there is a 6 county fall out.

GAA Discussion / Re: Sports Funding in NI

I too have been involved in SportNI and DAERA funding applications.
They are far from straight-forward processes and will take alot of patience and commitment to suceed.
Before you even apply to such funds you need to be 'spade' ready, ie have planning permission in place at least.
I know of urban GAA clubs that have been able to secure Dept of Communities funding for capital projects.
GAA clubs generally discuss projects, they visit each other and discuss the pit-falls.
I have met up with a couple of soccer clubs to go through potential programmes and whilst they have genunine eager people involved they are not up for the work-load or dont have volunteer skill sets in-house , projects could run from 3 to 5 years from inception to completion.
GAA clubs are in a stronger position day 1, they generally own their grounds, they cater from the cradle to the grave and alot of clubs offer more activities on their premises than their traditional field games.

I thought the conditioning of the tyrone players we far superior to the Derry lads.
I saw Grugan play for Omagh v Sneil last year, he was a cart-horse, last night he was a lean and agile.
N Sludden is some worker, far superior to Coney who has a terrific left foot skills, but is he a worker.
Darragh C, was like his da, looking for the ball right and left, always thinking.
I think Ryan D was on Coney.
Derry do not have the quality and team work of Tyrone yet, Tyrone were able to slot in young lads that were fully aware of what they had to do.
We had a young team out, i think we have the basis of a team that should get promoted, we need to get our spine sorted and playing on a regular basis.
